Yggdrasil has entered an online casino content agreement with Veikkaus
Gambling is an extremely popular activity in Finland, both online and in actual casinos. According to the Finnish gambling news portal NettiCasinoHEX.com, Finns are known as people who love to gamble, and part of that is probably because there are a lot of slot machines in every corner across the country, but also because of the thousands of online gambling sites, people can play at home.
Yggdrasil Gaming is one of the largest brands in the iGaming business providing online gaming solutions for iGaming operators whose name doesn’t need any special introduction. Its titles have been at the forefront of the gaming industry, particularly in the slot genre.
The company has announced that it has entered an online casino agreement with the Finnish national betting agency Veikkaus to provide them with high-quality casino content and games.
Veikkaus is the only gambling operating agency in Finland, both in land-based and online games, with a turnover of 3.2 billion Euro in 2017. They own the largest online casino in the state, attracting over 700,000 players per week.
In terms of profit, Vaikkaus is one of the top ten companies in Finland. It’s a company owned entirely by the state of Finland. Its games can be played in the Casino Helsinki, the biggest land-based casino in Finland, in many game arcades, at thousands of points of sale across the state, and in the online casino. There are over 2 million registered customers in Veikkaus, which equals 45% of the total number of adults in Finland. The entire profit from this gambling monopoly is used for the benefit of Finns.
The agreement says that Yggdrasil will provide Veikkaus with a full suite of slot games like Hanzo’s Dojo, Penguin City, and Wolf Hunters, as well as the classic titles like Winter Berries or Jokerizer, and the Vikings trilogy. Part of the package includes access to their in-game promotional tools, BOOST, that gives operators a chance to run promotions directly from within the game client. Yggdrasil’s games will fully comply with the regulatory requirements in Finland.
The chief Executive Officer at Yggdrasil, Fredrik Elmqvist, said that they are happy to join forces with the established and professional company Veikkaus, looking forward to a mutually beneficial partnership.
The Vice President of Casino Games at Veikkaus, Jan Hadelberg, commented that they are thrilled to join with the innovative team of Yggdrasil which brings their unique games to their loyal players. Hagelberg added that the casino content of Yggdrasil is known to perform well across regulated markets. Vaikkaus are sure their loyal players will enjoy Yggdrasil games on a daily basis.
The partnership between Veikkaus and Yggdrasil is a continuation of the company’s foray onto the market of Finland, since they’ve previously made a partnership with the friendly casino Paf in Finland.
Before this agreement, Yggdrasil claimed the new license in Sweden through a partnership with Svenska Spel. And, they also secured their first entry in Taiwan through an agreement with XSG – a social gaming operator.
Yggdrasil provides gaming content to LeoVegas, Betsson, Unibet, William Hill, bet365.com, and other world’s leading operators.

Lithuania to Ban Gambling Ads
The Lithuanian parliament on Tuesday approved restrictions on gambling advertising, set to take effect from next July.
The amendments to the Gaming Law, passed with 73 votes in favour and one abstention, will introduce a ban on gambling advertising starting in July 2025. Exceptions will apply to sports competitions and events, as well as sports sponsorships and broadcasts of sports competitions, which will have a transitional period until January 1, 2028.
Next year’s budget for the Media Support Fund earmarks an additional 4 million euros to compensate media organisations for lost advertising revenue.
Among other things, MPs backed a proposal from the parliamentary Committee on Budget and Finance to have a transitional period until the end of 2027, allowing up to three betting ad spots of under 15 seconds each per hour on television, radio and online between 06:00 and 18:00 and up to two per hour between 18:00 and midnight.
For online media, betting ads without a direct link to the gaming operator’s website will be limited to 20% of advertising space from 06:00 to 18:00 and 10% until midnight.
