Inspired Reports Third Quarter 2023 Results

Inspired Entertainment, a leading B2B provider of gaming content, technology, hardware and services, reported financial results for the three-month period ended September 30, 2023.

Lorne Weil, Executive Chairman of Inspired, said: “We have completed the financial restatement process and as of today, all amended filings are complete. For the first half of 2023, the net impact to Adjusted EBITDA from the restatement was effectively zero, with a $1 million decrease in previously reported results in Q1 offset by a $1 million increase in Q2. The impact to our Adjusted EBITDA for the full year 2022, was a decrease of $0.6 million, from $99.6 million to $99.0 million, or less than 1%. Adjusted EBITDA margin for the third quarter was 27%, but excluding Low Margin Gaming Hardware sales, the margin was 36%, compared to 37% in the prior year quarter.”

Weil continued: “For the quarter, our aggregate digital business, which includes our Virtual Sports and Interactive segments, grew Adjusted EBITDA 9% to $16.4 million from $15.0 million. Year to date, our digital business generated 58% of Adjusted EBITDA contribution compared to 50% in the prior year period. This performance reinforces the shift in our strategic focus towards our higher margin, scalable digital business and we continue to invest in premium content creation for these segments. At the same time, our Adjusted EBITDA for the third quarter was impacted by the timing of several one-time sales moving into the fourth quarter. Excluding one-time product sales, Adjusted EBITDA grew 4% year-over-year during the third quarter. As we look forward, we expect our fourth quarter Adjusted EBITDA to be in-line with consensus. Additionally, our fourth quarter Adjusted EBITDA would have been nearly $2 million higher if not for the ransomware attack on our IT systems impacting results.”

Weil added: “Our digital business third quarter results were led by the Interactive segment where revenue and Adjusted EBITDA increased 28% and 55% year-over-year on a constant currency basis, respectively, underscoring both the growth and scalability of the business. Interactive results reflect another quarterly record as we continue to benefit from an increased footprint through new customer launches, the consistent deployment of new content and increased promotional activity through exclusive deals with tier-one customers as well as revenue growth from existing customers. In our Virtual Sports segment, we generated $13.4 million of revenue during the quarter compared to $14.4 million during the prior year. The year-over-year decline was driven by a major customer’s optimizing of their customer base, with a partial offset due to increased retail revenue. In the last two to three years, we’ve seen extraordinary growth in our Virtual Sports business, driven by new products and market expansions. We believe we are heading into another strong growth phase, driven by our exciting new content partnerships with the NFL and NBA. We have two major markets with substantial growth opportunity, North America and Latin America. In addition, we’ve recently launched Hybrid Dealer, a revolutionary new iGaming product. We are proud to have partnered with BetMGM to launch this innovative new product. With all of this recent progress, we are more convinced than ever that we are in the early stages of an expanding global opportunity with our digital business that will continue to exhibit a high margin and low capital intensity profile.”

Weil continued: “In our land-based operations, which includes our Gaming and Leisure segments, we’ve completed the deployment of our new ‘Vantage’ cabinet across two of our largest licensed betting shop customers, recording another $22.7 million of low margin terminal sales in Q3. We continue to see approximately 11% year-over-year revenue per machine increases with these new terminal deployments. In our pubs business, we’ve deployed ‘Vantage’ across approximately 20% of our customer estate and have experienced approximately 20% year-over-year growth in revenue per machine. This gives us confidence that we are seeing a reacceleration across our land-based businesses.”

Weil concluded: “Fundamentally, our business remains very strong, which was reflected in our repurchase of $1.5 million of our stock during the third quarter. We are optimistic about the compelling digital growth dynamics of the business, as a wider audience engages with online betting and gaming while new jurisdictions continue to launch. Combined with a resilient land-based business, our diversification and expansion ability reinforce our omni-channel strategy combining our high-margin, capital efficient digital businesses with our steady land-based businesses.”

DoubleDown Interactive, a leading developer and publisher of digital games on mobile and web-based platforms, announced its unaudited financial results for the fourth quarter and year ended December 31, 2023. The Company’s consolidated financial results for the three- and twelve-month periods ended December 31, 2023 include 61 days of contributions from European iGaming operator, SuprNation, which was acquired by the Company on October 31, 2023.

Fourth Quarter 2023 vs. Fourth Quarter 2022 Summary:

  • Revenue was $83.1 million in the fourth quarter of 2023 compared to $76.2 million in the fourth quarter of 2022. Revenue contributed by SuprNation totaled $4.3 million for the 61 days the Company owned and operated the business. Revenue exclusive of the contributions from SuprNation increased 3% year over year to $78.8 million.
  • Operating expenses declined to $47.5 million in the fourth quarter of 2023 from $321.4 million in the fourth quarter of 2022, primarily reflecting the one-time, non-cash goodwill and intangibles impairment of $269.9 million incurred in the fourth quarter of 2022.
  • Adjusted EBITDA was $36.2 million for the fourth quarter of 2023, an increase from $24.7 million for the fourth quarter of 2022, primarily due to higher revenue and lower cost of revenues and sales and marketing expenses, partially offset by higher general and administrative expenses. Adjusted EBITDA margin increased to 43.5% in the fourth quarter of 2023 from 32.4% in the fourth quarter of 2022.
  • Net income was $25.5 million, or earnings per fully diluted common share of $10.27 ($0.51 per American Depositary Share (ADS)), in the fourth quarter of 2023, compared to a loss of $(194.4) million, or a loss of $(78.47) per fully diluted common share ($(3.92) per ADS), in the fourth quarter of 2022. Note each ADS represents 0.05 share of a common share.
  • Average Revenue Per Daily Active User (ARPDAU) for the Company’s social casino/free-to-play games increased to $1.24 in the fourth quarter of 2023 from $0.98 in the fourth quarter of 2022 and $1.06 in the third quarter of 2023.
  • Average monthly revenue per payer for the social casino/free-to-play games increased to $279 in the fourth quarter of 2023 from $227 in the fourth quarter of 2022 and $245 in the third quarter of 2023.

In Keuk Kim, Chief Executive Officer of DoubleDown, said: “Our fourth quarter results, which include a 3% year-over-year increase in core social casino revenue to $78.8 million and a 46% increase in Adjusted EBITDA to $36.2 million, highlight our best-in-class ability to monetize our loyal players combined with our disciplined approach to user acquisition and R&D spend which drives consistent profitability and strong free cash flow. We continue to deliver strong engagement metrics for our flagship social casino game DoubleDown Casino, as ARPDAU and average monthly revenue per payer rose 26% and 23%, respectively, compared to the 2022 fourth quarter. As a result, cash flows from operating activities were approximately $30 million in the fourth quarter.

“Our acquisition of SuprNation in the fourth quarter marked our entrance into the European iGaming market and we are moving quickly on a range of initiatives to scale the business which will be our initial focus before we turn to optimizing the cash flow generated by this business. These initiatives include increasing marketing investment and leveraging our legacy of marketing and product expertise to grow SuprNation’s market share in its core U.K. and Sweden markets.

“We place a primary focus on being capital efficient as reflected in our strong Adjusted EBITDA margins and free cash flow generation. At 2023 year-end, cash and cash equivalents and short-term investments net of current borrowing were approximately $235 million, which is equivalent to approximately $4.75 per ADS. Our strong net cash position and consistent ability to generate attractive free cash flow provides the Company with significant flexibility to evaluate further opportunities to deploy capital that would continue to expand our business in gaming categories with attractive addressable markets and where our operating discipline would ultimately deliver additional free cash flow and create new value for our shareholders.”

Wynn Resorts Limited reported financial results for the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2023.

Operating revenues were $1.84 billion for the fourth quarter of 2023, an increase of $835.5 million from $1.00 billion for the fourth quarter of 2022. Net income attributable to Wynn Resorts Limited was $729.2 million for the fourth quarter of 2023, compared to net income attributable to Wynn Resorts Limited of $32.4 million for the fourth quarter of 2022. The increase in net income attributable to Wynn Resorts Limited was primarily the result of increased operating revenues from the Macau Operations and Las Vegas Operations, as well as an income tax benefit related to the release of valuation allowance on certain deferred tax assets as a result of achieving sustained profitability in the US. Diluted net income per share was $6.19 for the fourth quarter of 2023, compared to diluted net income per share of $0.29 for the fourth quarter of 2022. Adjusted Property EBITDAR was $630.4 million for the fourth quarter of 2023, compared to Adjusted Property EBITDAR of $195.1 million for the fourth quarter of 2022.

Operating revenues were $1.84 billion for the fourth quarter of 2023, an increase of $835.5 million from $1.00 billion for the fourth quarter of 2022. For the fourth quarter of 2023, operating revenues increased $411.3 million, $309.0 million, $111.3 million, and $5.1 million at Wynn Palace, Wynn Macau, the Las Vegas Operations, and Wynn Interactive, respectively, and decreased $1.2 million at Encore Boston Harbor, from the fourth quarter of 2022.

Net income attributable to Wynn Resorts Limited was $729.2 million for the fourth quarter of 2023, compared to net income attributable to Wynn Resorts Limited of $32.4 million for the fourth quarter of 2022. The increase in net income attributable to Wynn Resorts Limited was primarily the result of increased operating revenues from the Macau Operations and the Las Vegas Operations, as well as an income tax benefit related to the release of valuation allowance on certain deferred tax assets as a result of achieving sustained profitability in the US. Adjusted Property EBITDAR was $630.4 million for the fourth quarter of 2023, an increase of $435.3 million compared to Adjusted Property EBITDAR of $195.1 million for the fourth quarter of 2022. For the fourth quarter of 2023, Adjusted Property EBITDAR increased $195.1 million, $161.0 million, $51.5 million, $26.5 million, and $1.1 million at Wynn Palace, Wynn Macau, the Las Vegas Operations, Wynn Interactive, and Encore Boston Harbor, respectively, from the fourth quarter of 2022.

For the year ended December 31, 2023, operating revenues were $6.53 billion, an increase of $2.78 billion from $3.76 billion for the year ended December 31, 2022. Operating revenues for the year ended December 31, 2023 increased $1.48 billion, $902.3 million, $348.5 million, $34.7 million, and $13.0 million at Wynn Palace, Wynn Macau, the Las Vegas Operations, Encore Boston Harbor, and Wynn Interactive, respectively, from the year ended December 31, 2022.

Net income attributable to Wynn Resorts Limited was $730.0 million, or $6.32 per diluted share for the year ended December 31, 2023, compared to net loss attributable to Wynn Resorts Limited of $423.9 million, or $3.73 per diluted share for the year ended December 31, 2022. The increase in net income attributable to Wynn Resorts Limited was primarily the result of increased operating revenues from the Macau Operations and Las Vegas Operations, as well as an income tax benefit related to the release of valuation allowance on certain deferred tax assets as a result of achieving sustained profitability in the US. Adjusted net income attributable to Wynn Resorts Limited was $462.3 million, or $4.10 per diluted share, for the year ended December 31, 2023, compared to adjusted net loss attributable to Wynn Resorts Limited of $507.4 million, or $4.47 per diluted share, for the year ended December 31, 2022.

Golden Matrix Group Inc, a developer, licensor and global operator of online gaming and eCommerce platforms, systems and gaming content, reported financial results for its fiscal year ended October 31, 2023, including:

Full-year record revenues of $44.2 million, an increase of 23% on revenues of $36 million in the comparable 12-month period ended October 31, 2022; includes record revenues of $11.8 million in the fourth fiscal quarter of 2023.

Net loss of $1.17 million with Adjusted EBITDA of $2.4 million in fiscal 2023.

Cash and cash equivalents of $17.1 million and total assets of $35.6 million as of October 31, 2023.

GMGI shareholders’ equity increased to $31.1 million as of 2023.

Current gaming operators and registered user numbers of 785 and 8.2 million, respectively, in business-to-business (B2B) traditional business.

Business-to-consumer (B2C) segments – RKingsCompetitions Ltd. (RKings) and Mexplay – now have over 325,000 and 61,000 registered users, respectively.

Management expects the acquisition of the MeridianBet Group to close during the first calendar quarter of 2024.

Revenue contributions in fiscal 2023 from GMGI’s B2B and B2C segments were $15.63 million and $28.54 million, respectively.

The net loss in fiscal 2023 was due primarily to general and administrative non-cash expenses of $2.45 million for stock-based compensation, an increase in income tax expenses of $264,257, an increase in Mexplay operation costs of $497,278, an increase in consulting fees of $296,771, and a decrease in foreign exchange gain of $269,196.

“Year after year, we continue to achieve significant improvements in revenue. This solid momentum has delivered four consecutive years of revenue growth and shareholders’ equity increases.
