IBAS Unveils New Plans to Become the First Gambling Ombudsman

The Independent Betting Adjudication Service (IBAS) has unveiled plans to become the new Gambling Ombudsman.
IBAS believes the long-awaited UK Government White Paper will call for the creation of a new Ombudsman, once released. IBAS claims it is the perfect candidate for the role, aiming to protect consumers from gambling harm while raising industry standards across the board.
The body already offers an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) service â as opposed to the Gambling Commission, which is the official route for resolving issues.
Per its bid to become the UKâs first Gambling Ombudsman, IBAS has outlined its aims and goals should it assume the position.
IBAS has called for its Ombudsman governance framework setting to be produced outside its remit; new and compulsory funding from the industry to ensure impartiality remains central to all gambling disputes; and a Fair Play Code â outlining the criteria for deciding complaints, including fairness terms & conditions for harmful gambling complaints.

I welcome the creation of a new Ombudsman, but for this to work it needs to be run by an organisation that understands the sector and has a track record of helping and protecting consumers. An Ombudsman with additional resources, built on the foundations of IBAS is best placed to hit the ground running, protecting consumers, and raising industry standards through fair, consistent decision making and constructive dispute avoidance feedback,â Richard Hayler, Managing Director of IBAS, said.

What is a Penalty Challenge?
The Penalty Challenge is an exciting game where participants predict the outcome of a penalty kick. Simply guess whether a football player will score a goal or miss, and if youâre right, youâll earn a chance to enter the prize raffle.
How to participate
Eager to test your luck? Just look for Boomerang Partnersâ friendly promo team with tablets, or use the touchscreen at booth F50. Hereâs what you need to do:
- Click on the PLAY button.
- Fill out the quick registration form with your Name, Email, and Category.
- Once the football video loads, click on either the Score or Miss button.
- If your guess is correct, youâll receive a paper number â thatâs your entry for the raffle.
If you donât get lucky the first time, you can try again â there is no limit to the number of attempts.
Two raffles, two winners
Boomerang Partners will host two raffles during the Penalty Challenge. All holders of unique paper numbers will be eligible:
- Day 1 (Offline Raffle): July 2, 4:00 PM at booth F50
- Day 2 (Online Raffle): July 3, 4:00 PM at Boomerang Partnersâ Instagram page
The winner for each raffle will be selected using a randomizer. If your number is drawn during the offline raffle but youâre not at Booth F50, a new winner will be chosen. The winner of the online raffle will be notified via email.
