Hawks Talon GC Dominates Defending Champions T-Wolves Gaming
Bp (Michael Diaz-Cruz) Leads All Scorers with 37 and 25 in Two Games vs. T-Wolves Gaming
On the night that T-Wolves Gaming celebrated their 2019 2K League Championship in front of a national audience, Hawks Talon Gaming Club, the official NBA 2K League affiliate of the Atlanta Hawks, defeated T-Wolves Gaming twice in a best-of-three series. As a result, Hawks Talon earned their first regular-season victory of the 2020 NBA 2K League regular season. The result of the first game was an 82-52 victory, and the outcome of the second was 78-62.
“BP showed in both games tonight why we acquired him this offseason. His elite playmaking dominated all aspects of the game and more importantly, he got his teammates involved,” Hawks Talon GC’s Team Manager and Head Coach Wesley Acuff said. “We look forward to getting back on the virtual stage next week.”
In the first game, BP (Michael Diaz-Cruz) led the team with 37 points, highlighted by shooting five-for-six from three-point range, to go along with a game-high nine assists, two rebounds and one steal. The team’s 2020 first-round pick LEE (Lee Lamb) totaled 15 points and a game-high 18 rebounds to record his second double-double of the season. He also contributed with three assists. Hawks Talon’s MRSTYLEZ (Andrew Valle) added 12 points and a career-high nine rebounds while FOLLOWTHEGOD (Kwan Larry Niblack Jr.) added 11 points, two assists and a game-high three blocks. Rounding out the performance was KEL (Mykel Wilson) who finished the game with seven points, two assists and two steals.
In the second matchup, Hawks Talon’s BP totaled a game-high 25 points to go along with 11 assists and three steals. This marks BP’s first double-double of his Hawks Talon career. KEL added 23 points and two steals while FOLLOWTHEGOD scored a career-high 21 points on shooting seven-of-eight from three-point range. LEE finished with nine points and a game-high 12 rebounds. He also contributed with six assists and a team-high four steals and game-high two blocks. Rounding out the group was MRSTLYEZ who added three rebounds, one assist and one block.
Hawks Talon will continue its regular season competition as part of six weeks of remote gameplay. The club’s next match will take place at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13 against Grizz Gaming. These games will be livestreamed on the league’s Twitch and YouTube channels.

CREAM CITY CONVERGENCE ESPORTS TOURNAMENT SELECTED AS CAPCOM PRO TOUR EVENT
Bucks Gaming’s Cream City Convergence Esports Tournament has been selected as a Capcom Pro Tour event, becoming one of just three tournaments in North America chosen to be a qualifier for the prestigious Capcom Cup.
The Capcom Cup is an annual Street Fighter 6 competition, hosted by video game developer and esports organizer Capcom, with a $1 million first place prize. Each year, Capcom selects a small number of tournaments worldwide to serve as Capcom Pro Tour events, with the winning players from each event qualifying for the Capcom Cup. As one of the tournaments selected by Capcom for the honor this year, Cream City Convergence will become the first esports event run by an NBA team to work with a major esports organizer.
Top-ranked Street Fighter 6 players will compete at Cream City Convergence when it returns for its second year on Saturday, Aug. 24, at Baird Center. In addition to Street Fighter 6, this year’s tournament will also have brackets for Tekken 8; Super Smash Bros Ultimate; Super Smash Bros Melee; and Guilty Gear: Strive.

This partnership signals the alignment of Kambi’s longstanding commitment to corporate probity and sports integrity with ESIC’s ongoing battle against match-fixing and corruption in esports.
