BetBlocker expands support to Greek in its first 2026 language launch
In a thrilling beginning to 2026, BetBlocker reveals that its anonymous and free-to-use gambling management and blocking software is now accessible for native Greek speakers.
The BetBlocker team starts 2026 with an ongoing commitment to the charity’s growth into new languages. The driving forces at BetBlocker have long acknowledged that offering customized assistance in native languages is crucial for their users to maintain complete control over their gambling behaviors. Only at that point can gambling-related harms be averted. The recently launched Greek language edition is a significant contribution to the variety of languages already offered by the charity. Having more than 13 million Greek speakers documented globally is significant.
Although there has not been any recent comprehensive studies on the prevalence of problem gambling behaviors in the Greek population, a journal article released in 2019 by the National Library of Medicine indicated that:
2.4% of participants fulfilled the criteria for gambling problems. Male gender, being part of a minority, residing with one’s family of origin, low education, and minimal to no income were identified as risk factors for the disorder.
This emphasizes the necessity of offering both free and language-specific editions of BetBlocker’s software to at-risk native Greek speakers.
The BetBlocker team appreciates the assistance from EveryMatrix and Christina Theophilos, who contributed to translating the app.
Jake Cachia, Head of Compliance for EveryMatrix had this to say about the collaboration: “EveryMatrix is proud to partner with BetBlocker and support the Greek translation of the app. With BetBlocker now available in Greek, people in Greece can access the tool in their own language, making it easier to take practical steps to pause, stop, or reduce their gambling if they need to.”
Ms. Theophilos added: “As a Greek-Canadian with close family ties in Greece, it was an honour and a privilege to translate the BetBlocker app into Greek. Many people are unaware that they are gambling on illegal websites that offer no player protection and can cause serious financial and emotional harm, and while statistics suggest that at least 2.4% of the population may experience gambling addiction, the true number of individuals and families affected is likely much higher and often hidden.
I sincerely hope that operators will signpost BetBlocker.org to those in need, as this free tool allows individuals to self-exclude and block access to both licensed and illegal gambling websites, helping them regain a sense of control while they are in treatment and recovery, and until a national self-exclusion framework is fully in place—offering hope, dignity, and protection to all those who need it most.”
BetBlocker’s Chief of Safer Gambling Partnerships, Pedro Romero, was keen to recognise the value of the freshly launched Greek language version of the app: “Supporting people in their native language is not a “nice to have”, it is often the difference between someone successfully reaching a blocked state and giving up part way through set up. Blocking software can be technically involved, requiring multiple manual changes to device settings, and many people seek out this support when they are already under stress or at a point of crisis, so clarity and familiarity of language matters.
Language support also helps communities who can be underserved by national services, including people living as minorities in other countries, migrants, international workers, and anyone who cannot comfortably navigate technical instructions in the majority language. By prioritising localisation, not just direct translation, we help ensure BetBlocker is accessible, usable, and respectful across cultures, and easier for local partners to signpost effectively within the communities they support.”

AdmiralBet Spain reinforces commitment to player protection with BetBlocker collaboration

Greentube, the NOVOMATIC Digital Gaming and Entertainment division, has reinforced its commitment to responsible gaming through a new partnership between NOVOMATIC’s Spanish-facing brand AdmiralBet.es and BetBlocker, aimed at improving player protection and raising awareness of safer gambling tools in Spain.
Through this collaboration, AdmiralBet Spain together with BetBlocker are supporting ongoing safer gambling initiatives, further strengthening the operator’s long-standing commitment to player wellbeing and responsible play.
BetBlocker, a UK-registered charitable organisation, provides a free, anonymous self-exclusion tool that allows users to block access to thousands of online gambling websites and apps across multiple devices and languages. Players can choose blocking periods ranging from a few hours to several years, without needing to register or submit any personal information.
As part of the collaboration, AdmiralBet Spain has added the BetBlocker logo to its website footer and included details about the tool on its Safer Gambling page. The resource is also being highlighted within the operator’s player communications, ensuring that users seeking support can easily find and access it.
The initiative follows a previous collaboration between BetBlocker and Greentube’s German operations, marking another step in the company’s ongoing mission to promote responsible gambling across its European markets.
Clara Gómez Grau at AdmiralBet.es, added: “AdmiralBet.es is convinced that a sustainable gaming environment is one where players feel safe, informed and in control. Partnering with BetBlocker allows us to strengthen that commitment by providing a practical tool that supports responsible play and promotes player wellbeing.”
Pedro Romero at BetBlocker, said: “We’re delighted to receive the support of AdmiralBet.es and Greentube in expanding BetBlocker’s reach within the Spanish market. Every partnership helps us to make our service more accessible to those who may benefit from additional tools to control their gambling habits.”

BetBlocker Layers Harm Minimisation Support Internationally with New Signposting Feature
Reading Time: < 1 minute
As part of Safer Gambling Week, harm prevention charity BetBlocker today announces the launch of its improved app dashboard.
BetBlocker, which provides blocking software to help people manage or restrict their access to online gambling services, is unique in adopting a charitable model for this type of support, and facilitating users accessing protection both free of charge and anonymously.
The improved dashboard will include signposting for other types of support – a national gambling support phone number, a national gambling self-exclusion register, and a national information resource – for almost 50 countries.
BetBlocker’s Founder and Managing Trustee, Duncan Garvie made the following comments on this upgrade:
“Blocking software is a fantastic tool to support harm minimisation efforts. But it is just one tool, not a complete solution in its own right. Far more significant reductions in harm can be achieved where different types of support are used in conjunction with each other.
The UK has previously led the way in this area with the TalkBanStop campaign. We want to roll out a similar approach to the layering of support in as many countries as possible. So BetBlocker is looking to lead by example, signposting relevant support for our hundreds of thousands of users, wherever appropriate and relevant services exist.”
The new dashboard will also include information on academic research that BetBlocker users can participate in and support. Garvie added:
“The stigma associated with gambling harm can make engaging participants to support crucial research challenging. BetBlocker’s users are exactly the kind of audience that can help researchers better understand how to most effectively reduce harm. BetBlocker is looking to support academic research teams to reach the type of participants that help them expand our understanding of how people interact with gambling.”

Coolbet Reaffirms Commitment to Responsible Gaming with Donation to BetBlocker

Coolbet is proud to announce a renewed donation to BetBlocker, a leading responsible gaming charity offering free access-control tools to players worldwide. This marks the second time Coolbet has supported the organisation’s mission to help individuals manage their gambling habits and play responsibly.
Two years ago, Coolbet’s contribution and volunteer efforts enabled BetBlocker to launch its app and website in Spanish, expanding accessibility to millions of users across Latin America and other Spanish-speaking regions. The renewed donation underlines Coolbet’s ongoing commitment to ensuring such vital tools remain free and available to all.
“Responsible gaming has always been a cornerstone of who we are,” said Fjodor Rauten, Responsible Gaming Manager at Coolbet. “We strongly believe that tools like BetBlocker must remain free for anyone who needs them. By supporting BetBlocker again, we’re helping ensure that players everywhere have access to the help they might need, without barriers.”
BetBlocker’s free software allows users to self-restrict access to online gambling sites and apps for periods of their choice. Its unique Scheduler feature enables users to block access during moments of increased vulnerability, such as weekends, holidays, or paydays.
Coolbet’s renewed donation will help BetBlocker continue expanding its reach, maintaining multilingual support, and improving its technology for global users. The partnership aligns closely with Coolbet’s guiding principle: “Stay Cool. Bet Responsibly.”
“Last week, BetBlocker passed a quarter of a million active users in 2025,” said Duncan Garvie, Founder and Trustee of BetBlocker. “That is an astronomical level of uptake. We couldn’t deliver support to so many people, all over the world, without socially conscientious operators like Coolbet. Their ongoing contribution demonstrates genuine commitment to player protection and ensures that essential tools remain accessible to those who need them most.”
Coolbet first partnered with BetBlocker in 2023, contributing financially and through staff-led volunteer translations that made the service available in Spanish. The collaboration has since been recognised as a milestone in responsible gaming accessibility for Spanish-speaking audiences worldwide.
