Coljuegos: Betplay and Super Astro Contribute More Than $347.5B to health in 2025
Betplay and Super Astro remain two of the most profitable and popular gambling brands in Colombia. In 2025 alone, these two products, belonging to the Corredor Empresarial group, paid $347.587 billion in monopoly royalties.
“These funds paid to the Nation were transferred to finance the health system. Furthermore, they represent an 11% increase compared to the monopoly revenues paid for both products in 2024,” said Marco Emilio Hincapié, president of Coljuegos.
Similarly, between January and the first half of March 2026, Betplay and Super Astro have already paid out around $106.259 million, representing an increase of 1.56% compared to the same period in 2025.
“At Coljuegos, we have strengthened the innovative gaming industry, including Super Astro and online betting. That is why we continue to make history every day in raising funds for healthcare from this sector,” said the president of Coljuegos.
It is important to highlight that, during 2025, Betplay received deposits totaling $5.5 trillion from bettors. In addition, the platform contributed $745.594 billion in VAT, funds that were allocated to support peacebuilding efforts in the affected territories. Meanwhile, in 2025, Super Astro reported sales of $754.820 billion.
“Our commitment is to continue protecting the legal industry. That is why we will continue to fight tirelessly against those who operate unauthorized gambling and harm both businesses and the resources allocated to the health of Colombians,” Hincapié added.

Blask Awards 2025: Betano, Caliente, BetPlay, Betsson and others define Latin America’s iGaming landscape
Year-long data across nine regulated countries show Betano dominating Latin America by demand and revenue baseline, while strong local champions define national markets.
Drawing on a full year of data from January 1, 2025, to January 1, 2026, Blask evaluated licensed operator performance across Latin America’s regulated online betting and casino markets. The conclusion is unequivocal: Betano emerged as the dominant force across the region.
A regional leader emerges
In the LATAM-wide rankings, Betano secured both of the region’s top distinctions:
- America Operator of the Year, awarded for the highest cumulative Blask Index across the region
- America CEB Leader, recognizing the strongest aggregate Competitive Earning Baseline (CEB)
The regional analysis covered nine regulated markets (Brazil, Mexico, Peru, Colombia, Argentina, Paraguay, Panama, El Salvador, and the Dominican Republic) and included only locally licensed operators.
Operators: leadership is local, not regional
Brazil, Latin America’s largest and most closely watched iGaming market, reinforced Betano’s regional dominance. The operator claimed both Brazil Operator of the Year and Brazil CEB Leader, reflecting its unmatched share of demand and revenue baseline in a market that increasingly sets the tone for the continent.
Mexico, the Andes, and Central America: strong national champions
Beyond Brazil, the awards reveal a region shaped by powerful local leaders.
In Mexico, Caliente captured both Mexico Operator of the Year and Mexico CEB Leader, maintaining its position as the country’s dominant licensed brand.
Peru recognized Apuesta Total as both Operator of the Year and CEB Leader, while Colombia’s tightly regulated market saw BetPlay take top honors in both categories.
Argentina presented a more divided picture: Betsson led in demand as Operator of the Year, while Bet365 topped the country’s CEB rankings.
In smaller but fast-formalizing markets, leadership was equally clear. Aposta.La dominated Paraguay, Betcha led Panama, GanaPlay topped El Salvador, and Betcris secured both awards in the Dominican Republic.
Games: one clear regional consensus
At game level, the picture is very different. Across every regulated Latin American market tracked by Blask, the same franchise led player demand:
- Brazil – Gates of Olympus 1000;
- Mexico – Gates of Olympus Super Scatter;
- Argentina – Gates of Olympus 1000
All top titles were developed by Pragmatic Play.
What this tells us about Latin America
Blask Awards data points to a clear regional insight:
- Operators win locally — success does not easily transfer across borders;
- Games win regionally — player preferences converge strongly around specific mechanics;
- LATAM is structurally different from Africa, where both operators and games show more cross-market overlap
Measuring power, not noise
Blask’s awards are built on proprietary metrics designed to capture market power rather than short-term performance.
The Blask Index tracks real-time demand and attention share, while CEB (Competitive Earning Baseline) estimates the statistically attainable revenue range for a brand based on its competitive position. Together, they offer a standardized way to compare operators across countries with very different market sizes and regulatory histories.
Crucially, the Blask Awards exclude unregulated markets and offshore-only brands — a methodological choice that, in Latin America, significantly reshapes traditional perceptions of leadership.
Latin America in the global picture
The Latin American results arrive alongside Blask’s global rankings, where Betano also led multiple worldwide categories.

BetPlay Partners with TAPPP and DirecTV to Launch New Betting Service
Colombian operator BetPlay has partnered with interactive payment provider TAPPP and satellite television provider DirecTV to launch the first in-broadcast betting experience available directly from a television screen.
The product, which went live on Colombian Division A soccer games last week, enables BetPlay customers who subscribe to DirecTV to open an overlay on their TV screens while watching a live soccer match and place a bet within the same screen.
TAPPP’s patented payment technology facilitates the transaction between the broadcast and BetPlay, within both linear TV services and DirecTV’s streaming platform for the first time.
Reflecting on the launch at SBC Summit Americas in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, last week, TAPPP Chief Executive and Founder Sandy Agarwal said, while the product has only been live for six games, initial data shows that 14.5% of people watching the games clicked, age-verified, and accessed the betting experience. Moreover, 6.5% scrolled through to see what kind of bets were available and 37.5% showed intent to bet by linking their accounts.
Agarwal also said that early data from trials showed that when viewers placed even a modest bet, their engagement with the game rose from an average of 10 minutes to 21 minutes.
The technology has the potential to revolutionize the way that bettors engage with sports and entertainment on TV, enabling a more intuitive and social online betting experience.
BetPlay board member Paola Echeverri said the operator hoped to see the offering expand across sports and entertainment programming. “A year from now, this is going to be a lot bigger, and it’s going to be a lot more entertaining and a lot more fun than we’re seeing right now,” she said.
“That overlay will hopefully have transformed into a new way of consuming sports and a new way of expressing your passion, which is what our brand is all about, betting on your passion. We are completely betting on transforming that passion in our customers and hopefully, with TAPPP and DirecTV, creating something completely new that we can’t envision right now, but that we completely feel coming our way.”
The project has taken almost 18 months to deliver after DirecTV accepted TAPPP’s proof of concept in January 2024. Describing the process as “very complex, business wise and technology wise,” Agarwal said it took a team of 60 full-time engineers nine months to deliver the product ready for launch.
However, with sports betting rolled out, Agarwal is ready to expand TAPPP’s innovative payments technology to multiple use cases. “We want to be ubiquitous,” he said. “We’ve taken practice swings with almost every sport. The platform is, in lot of ways, plug and play.”
TAPPP has received investment via two funding rounds. The first was in 2018, followed by a $10 million Series B funding round co-led by Accomplice and Verance Capital in 2022.
Other backers included Stephen Pagliuca of the Boston Celtics and Peter Tomozawa of the Vegas Golden Knights and Seattle Sounders. As well as Permit Ventures, London-based Oakvale Capital and ADvantage, which counts sports betting entrepreneur Laila Mintas among its venture partners.
