Red Bull Solo Q, the official 1v1 League of Legends tournament, has revealed details of its 2022 return. National tournaments and International qualifiers kick off in March giving amateur players the opportunity to compete at the highest level and offering League of Legends fans a unique spectacle. The top players will compete at the Red Bull Solo Q World Finals later this year, battling for bragging rights as the world’s best amateur 1v1 League of Legends player.
Red Bull Solo Q adds a unique twist to traditional League of Legends play. The format consists of 1v1 duels, where the player must draw “First Blood,” take down the opponent’s tower, or reach a 100-minion score to claim victory. This format tests players in a completely different way than the traditional 5v5 and also gives fans the opportunity to see champions and strategies they may not otherwise. Red Bull Solo Q is built for players who want to develop their solo skills and fans looking for fast, high-intensity battles.
Red Bull Solo Q returns from a successful 2021 season, which saw more than 55.000 registrants compete across 33 different countries. The tournament is founded on giving solo amateur players the opportunity to showcase their abilities on the biggest of stages, against the best, while representing their country, and acting as a springboard for even greater League of Legends success.
The tournament circuit is kicking off in March, with national tournaments spread throughout the year and across 25 countries, alongside International Qualifiers in various regions giving players a second chance to progress. The champion of each event will earn the chance to reach the highest level of the competition, of the Red Bull Solo Q World Finals. The Red Bull Solo Q World Finals gives these players the biggest of stages to show their skills, following last year’s highlight event which took place live at BMW Welt in Munich. At this year’s Red Bull Solo Q World Finals players will battle for pride and notoriety, hoping to follow the footsteps of Red Bull Solo Q Champions who have continued their success in the League of Legends scene.
Each participating country will have multiple national qualifiers, taking place throughout the year. National qualifier winners will then head into a playoff stage that will crown one national champion. Players in the international qualifier will go through similar steps to identify those summoners that will head to the World Finals, where players from all over the world will battle for the title of Red Bull Solo Q 2022 champion, engraving their name in League of Legends history.
The 2021 Champion, Mads ‘Viggomopsen’ Mikkelsen, showcased his skills as he dominated the World Finals, taking viewers and commentators back with his prowess. Viggomopsen kicked off his journey with victory at the Danish National Qualifier, before dominating the Red Bull Solo Q World Finals and finishing with a tough but deserved victory in the final match against Arnas “arnax” Stepanauskas. Viggomopsen said of the event “I had actually planned to stop playing League of Legends for some time this year. But I think this tournament has shown me that I shouldn’t give up quite yet and that I can still pursue a great and hopefully fulfilling career in esports and League of Legends going forward. For the next year, my goal is to join a team in a European Regional League and hit Challenger again.”
To provide competitors with the very best equipment, Red Bull Solo Q has joined forces with AGON by AOC, the global leader in gaming monitors, as the Official Monitor Partner for the event, bringing exceptional visual clarity and ultra-high refresh rates to competitors.

10-15% Of Gamers In Florida Show Signs Of Gaming Addiction: Here Are 10 Signs Your Kid Is Suffering From It (And How You Can Help)
Recent studies indicate that 10-15% of young gamers in Florida exhibit signs of gaming addiction. These findings underscore the need for early identification of symptoms to prevent negative impacts on children’s mental and physical health. Gaming addiction, if not dealt with, can lead to poor academic performance, social withdrawal, and even health problems.
Marin Cristian-Ovidiu, CEO of FreezeNova, discusses key indicators of gaming addiction and offers practical advice for parents.
Recognizing Early Signs
“Early recognition of gaming addiction is crucial in preventing long-term negative outcomes,” Marin explains. The following signs can help parents identify if their child might be developing an addiction:
Exhaustion and Irritability
Constant tiredness and grumpiness during the day could indicate late-night gaming sessions interfering with sleep.
Gaming Obsession
If gaming dominates your child’s thoughts and conversations, and they plan their day around it while neglecting other responsibilities, it could be a sign of addiction.
Decline in Academic Performance and Lost Interests
A noticeable decline in academic performance or loss of interest in previously enjoyed activities may suggest your child is prioritizing gaming over more important tasks.
Emotional Volatility
Extreme emotional reactions to in-game outcomes, such as uncontrolled anger, known as ‘Gamer Rage’, or intense celebrations, could indicate an unhealthy attachment to gaming.
Physical Strain
Signs of repetitive strain injuries like ‘Gamer’s Thumb’ or ‘Nintendo Neck’ from prolonged screen time are warning signals.
Neglecting Basic Needs
If your child is neglecting basic needs like eating, sleeping, or hygiene to keep playing, gaming has likely taken an unhealthy control over their life.
Creating a Supportive Environment
While video games can be a great source of entertainment and connection, around 70% of people with signs of gaming addiction also experience social disorders. Marin recommends a few tips for building a supportive and open environment for your child.
Teamwork and Setting Boundaries
“Parents and children should work together to create a healthy gaming environment. Gaming addiction requires a holistic approach,” Marin advises. Start by setting clear boundaries on gaming time to ensure there’s room for schoolwork, chores, and quality family time.
Revisit activities your child once loved, like football practice or exploring new hobbies together. It’s vital for your child to take breaks from screens, so create a balanced daily routine that includes homework, chores, exercise and just some gaming time. This allows your child to enjoy their games without neglecting other aspects of their life.
Open Communication
Maintain open communication. Discuss the games your child enjoys and any concerns you might have. By understanding their world, you can work together to find solutions.
Remember, you’re not alone. If you feel overwhelmed, seek professional help from specialists in gaming addiction. Marin concludes, “By working as a team, setting clear boundaries, and fostering open communication, we can help your child develop a healthy relationship with gaming and thrive in all areas of life.”
