WORLD SERIES OF POKER® ADDS TWO STARTING FLIGHTS FOR 2021 MAIN EVENT
The 52nd annual World Series of Poker® (WSOP®) has added two Day 1 starting flights for the 2021 Main Event. The additional starts have been slated in response to the easing of international travel restrictions, allowing more opportunity for fully vaccinated international participants to enter without extending the tournament or impacting current participants schedules.
International participation is a key component to the WSOP experience. In 2019, players from 118 countries participated in the World Series of Poker. Beginning with Australian Joe Hachem’s triumph in the 2005 Main Event, seven of the past 16 Main Event Champions have been international players.
Added flights are:
- Monday, Nov. 8, Day 1E, beginning at 11 am
- Tuesday, Nov. 9, Day 1F, beginning at 12 noon
Additionally, registration now closes at 3:40 pm on Wednesday, Nov. 10.
“The Main Event is the World Championship of poker and we want players from around the world to have a chance to compete for the title in 2021,” said Ty Stewart, Executive Director, World Series of Poker. “We are thrilled with this creative solution to add flights allowing international players the chance to play without extending the duration of the event or asking any player to change their plans.”
The updated schedule can be found at WSOP.com/tournaments
Mega Satellites have also been extended through the morning of November 10th to allow more opportunities for participants to win their seat into the championship.
All participants are still required to show proof that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 one time, upon first registration, to become eligible to participate in WSOP.
The WSOP will make use of CLEAR’s free mobile app and Health Pass feature. Participants who successfully add their proof of full vaccination through CLEAR’s Health Pass may go directly to the registration cage tellers within the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino Convention Center. WSOP will also provide an on-site center to verify alternate documentation including physical vaccination cards, and state or country-specific health passes.
To be considered “fully vaccinated” against COVID-19, participants must receive their final vaccine dose 14 days prior to start date.
