Jack Butland has called on Rangers fans to show their support for tackling homelessness in Glasgow and sign-up for the Rangers Big Ibrox Sleep Outs – which encourages Rangers fans to sleep out at Ibrox.
On Friday 14th and Saturday 15th November, Rangers fans will brave the elements and get a glimpse of the nightly conditions those who are street homeless face. As part of their support of the event, 32Red will contribute the first £10 to every participant to kickstart their fundraising.
Jack Butland said: “Over the last 10 years, the Big Ibrox Sleep Outs have made a huge impact on tackling homelessness in Glasgow. These kind of initiatives are invaluable and the work both Rangers Charity Foundation and 32Red do for these is amazing. As a Club and as players we understand the importance of the community work off the pitch as well as on it and we are proud of our supporters for continuing to take on this challenge or support those who are doing it to help people who don’t have a home to call their own”
Half of the funds raised from the Sleep Outs will benefit the work of Glasgow City Mission and Simon Community Scotland, with the other half going to support the Rangers Charity Foundation’s life-changing work in the community. Those who attend the Friday 14th Sleep Out will also receive a complimentary ticket to Rangers v Celtic Women’s at Ibrox prior to sleeping out.
Glasgow City Mission’s Winter Project is committed to providing people with routes out of rough sleeping and ensuring that they have access to a bed. Glasgow City Mission is the world’s first City Mission and has been at the forefront of compassionate care for the city’s marginalised since 1826.
Simon Community Scotland believes everyone deserves a safe place to live. They provide information, care, support, accommodation and homes to people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
This season, the donation from the Sleep Outs to Simon Community Scotland will help to provide basics such as winter clothing (jackets, hats, scarves and gloves) and moving in packs which contain essentials for a new home, as well as supporting the charity’s Connect Hub for women experiencing homelessness.
David Henson, Supporter Engagement and Events Executive, Rangers Charity Foundation said: “Our supporters have been incredible over the last decade, raising over £358,000 for homeless charities via the Big Ibrox Sleep Outs, as well as additional funds for the Foundation’s own work in the community and with its charity partners. They have really taken this particular cause to heart. I think homelessness is something many of us see in the city every day, so it really struck a chord with fans and the Sleep Outs were a great way to get involved and do something positive while at the same time having the experience of spending the night in our iconic Stadium. We hope our 11th annual Sleep Outs continue to be a huge success and help two vital causes working to end homelessness in Glasgow.”
Elyse MacKinnon, Project Manager, Glasgow City Mission Winter Project, said: “The support of the Rangers Charity Foundation over the past decade has been incredible! It has allowed us to expand the winter project and having that extra month each winter has allowed us to support so many people who would have been at risk of rough sleeping. The Rangers supporters have managed to raise just under £277,000 for Glasgow City Mission alone over the years. To the fans who have taken part over the last decade and the ones who are going to do it this year, I truly just want to say thank you. It’s amazing what the supporters of the Foundation do, and it’s incredible that ten years later they are still supporting the winter project.”
Murray Easton, Head of Fundraising and Communications, Simon Community Scotland said: “The support of the Rangers Charity Foundation has been amazing, as its support we can reply upon. More people are homeless in Scotland now than ever before and we are at the frontline of that. The last winter was the most challenging we have experienced as a charity – the weather, the number of people rough sleeping or coming into our Hub looking for all kinds of support. To know that we’ve got regular support from the Rangers Charity Foundation is so important.”
Since 2015, the Sleep Outs have in total raised £358,500 for the community and tackling homelessness. Through their ongoing support, 32Red have contributed over £56,000 towards the events and continually support the work of the Foundation and their charitable initiatives.
Adam Gaskell, Head of UK Brand Marketing, FDJ United said: “We are continuing our support of the Big Ibrox Sleep Out by once again contributing the first £10 of sponsorship to every participant. This is an initiative we’ve been proud to support for many years as it aligns with our overall brand message of helping the local community and giving back. We want to thank everyone who has signed up so far and for supporting such a worthy cause. We hope that we can raise a lot of money to help those experiencing or at risk of homelessness”

One of betting and gaming’s best-known customer acquisition and comparison businesses, Quantum, has announced the next steps in its ambitious growth plan by welcoming two new director-level appointees.

Joining the business are Dimitris Papamichael as commercial director and Luke Watkin as marketing director – both in newly created roles. They come in alongside a full C-suite and a full team of new tech hires that continues a recruitment drive which began in 2023 – and reflects Quantum’s rapid and consistent growth throughout the last five years.

Watkin will lead the development and execution of the marketing strategy across all business verticals. As marketing director, he’ll be instrumental in shaping Quantum’s marketing vision, building scalable systems, and delivering commercial impact as it expands into new markets. Watkin will build and mentor a high-performing marketing team and is also tasked with driving further recruitment.

Speaking of the appointments and new strategic direction, CMO James McCarthy said: “It’s a pleasure to welcome Dimitris and Luke to Quantum during what is undoubtedly a really fascinating time in our growth. From cementing our relationship with some of iGaming’s biggest names to helping us expand into exciting new sectors, both of our new Directors will be integral to the continued success of the business.”

Papamichael said: “I’m thrilled to be joining Quantum at such an exciting stage of its incredible growth journey. Watkin said: “I am delighted to join a business with such a proven track record of excellence in its core markets, as well as highly ambitious plans for strategic expansion into new markets and territories. I am looking forward to contributing towards building on the exceptional progress the team has made to date, and accelerating that growth in the years ahead.”

This people news comes hot on the heels of the company’s exciting rebrand news of last week, moving toward the “quantum” in QiH Group” as well as redefining the business’ purpose and strategic direction.
