nanocosmos: market changes and opportunities: the advancements in live streaming technology

Reading Time: 3 minutes
1. Looking at the iGaming / online gaming market what trends do you see and what requirements evolve for live streaming providers like nanocosmos?
There is growth and a continuous demand for mobile live gaming via browsers. To ensure a great experience for players, operators depend on a solid solution that provides live video streaming with ultra-low latency. Only this will offer smooth interaction with a live dealer in real-time. At the same time this is one of the biggest challenges platform operators face, especially when it comes to live casinos and sports betting to ensure a seamless user experience when players are on the move. No matter which network or location you are in, any changes to network bandwidth – 3G to 5G to 4G to bad WiFi – that can interrupt or even cut gameplay. This challenge has been met with the rise of new, innovative technologies like adaptive bitrate streaming on any device.
Knowing this is a major challenge for the igaming businesses, we at nanocosmos are introducing a new generation of live streaming, including the brand new nanoStream Player at ICE this year. It is a key component of our platform nanoStream Cloud and now enables live streaming with sub-second latency enabling and maintaining full interaction between live dealers and players, yet stability for even bad networks on all devices, anywhere in the world, based on our unique Adaptive Bitrate technology.
On top of the live stream, additional tools and features are getting more and more important: data insights with an analytics platform, and security and protection against any possible misuse of your online live content.
2. nanocosmos has more than 20 years of experience in the audio/video industry and also expertise when it comes to B2B interactive live streaming – Why is it all about the latency and what are the strings attached?
Interactive live streaming can only be successful if latency is under control. Otherwise the players’ experience is subpar. That is why latency is cited as a particular challenge for certain use cases like betting and online gaming. The other factor that comes into play is that successful interactive live streaming is a concerted effort. Each component has to work well together such as camera, ingest, player, delivery around the world, latency etc. plus data insight to understand how the stream that is provided offers the right quality to the right targets. However, the most important aspect of latency is to approach it end-to-end for an immersive real-time experience.
3. How does nanocosmos offer something unique to other regular streaming solutions?
Generally speaking our solution is different in terms of the fact that it is with ultra-low latency to enable live interaction for gaming and betting with large audiences anywhere in the world. Hence we are not competing with regular streaming that traditionally does not require low latency. Looking at other interactive live streaming solutions in particular, we see our head start in terms of the most comprehensive approach to integrate businesses’ requirements with a comprehensive API in a future oriented way into their operations. You can look at it as an equation. Our solution nanoStream Cloud covers the following parts of it to result in success for our clients: It is easy to use, with end-to-end control, supports live metadata, offers a global network (CDN), player, analytics and stream protection besides the fact that it is white label and can be branded to your own solution.
We have been constantly innovating. Now we will be introducing the new generation of nanoStream Cloud with new features that will ensure lowest latency and highest stability of your live content, with sub-second latency glass-to-glass, this means from the camera to the player. Updates across all key components of our platform were made to ensure the best quality of service and quality of experience for our customers and therefore to their customers as well.
4. Can you provide an outlook in terms of live streaming interactive games and how technology adapts to changes?
We have always been focussing on innovation with the belief that innovation is a continuous process. Based on our long-year experience in the professional video business with a strong engineering team, we launched new innovations like Adaptive Bitrate Playback, Live Transcoding, extended Analytics and an amazing dashboard for stream management in 2020. Now it is time to focus on extended Analytics and stream protection/ security and the player for sub-second latency. This is based on close cooperation with our clients, good client relations and a continuous drive to move forward: each step counts to get better as long as it serves our clients.
We will continue to improve the quality of service, ensuring a seamless experience for our customers and their customers. Next step from our point of view is data-driven streaming.

Independent evaluation shows Ygam training is ‘highly effective’ for practitioners

Health and Social Care practitioners saw a 72% increase in their ability to recognise gaming and gambling harms in children and young people after completing Ygam’s training, an independent evaluation has revealed.
The independent evaluation, conducted by Rocket Science, highlights the ‘vital role’ of Ygam’s programme in equipping practitioners with the knowledge and tools to recognise, support, and signpost those at risk. It emphasises the importance of Ygam’s work as many practitioners initially have limited awareness of the risks that gaming and gambling can pose to children and young people.
The report reveals data that shows that, in 2024, Ygam not only frequently met, but also exceeded, its monthly targets in relation to the children and young people reach of trained delegates, achieving an overall reach of 166% of the intended target. Ygam trained 1,957 practitioners reaching an estimated 199,467 children and young people. Key deliveries of the training included clinical and non-clinical staff at Alder Hey Children’s and frontline teams at the children’s mental health charity Place2Be.
The evaluation provides strong evidence that Ygam’s training is highly effective and well-suited for Health and Social Care practitioners. Participants reported significantly increased knowledge of gaming and gambling harms after completing the training. The findings also indicate that the programme enhances practitioners’ ability to recognise the signs of harm in children and young people, as well as their confidence in signposting and offering appropriate support when concerns arise.
Data collect from pre, and post workshop surveys showed their knowledge of gaming and gambling harms increased from 14.8% to 95.1%. There was also strong evidence to suggest their confidence in communicating with children and young people about gaming and gambling had increased (from 20.4% to 91.9%), as well as their ability to signpost and support those who may be experiencing harm (from 18.5% to 92.8%).
The evidence also suggests that the increase in knowledge is enduring insofar as most respondents reported high levels of knowledge regarding gambling and gaming in children and young people at both three months (57.8%) and six months (75.0%) following the workshop.
The evaluation also presented Ygam with some recommendations to enhance the reach and effectiveness of the programme. These include expanding training access to a wider range of frontline professionals, integrating content into existing safeguarding and mental health frameworks, and developing tailored resources for specific practitioner groups.
Sandy Thompson, Programme Lead for Health and Social care at Ygam, said:
“Being evidence-led is at the heart of everything we do. This evaluation does not just depict our impact but emphasises our heightened focus on reflection and improvement. Over the past year, we’ve embedded rigorous evaluation into every stage of programme delivery to ensure our work is both effective and responsive to the needs of health care practitioners and the young people they support.
“These insights have shaped our approach, informed our partnerships, and strengthened our commitment to continuous growth. As we look ahead, this evidence base will continue to guide our efforts to scale impact and drive meaningful change in the prevention of gaming and gambling harms.”

B90: from turnaround to accelerated growth – 2025 Trading Update

B90 Holdings plc, an online marketing group for the global gaming industry, today provides a trading update for the six-month period ended 30 June 2025.
The Group delivered a strong performance in the first half of 2025, with both revenue and EBITDA increasing significantly compared to the same period last year. This reflects continued momentum in B90’s transition to a lean, scalable, B2B-focused model.
As a result of the progress made, the Board expects full-year 2025 revenue and EBITDA to at least be in line with market expectations.
The Group’s scalable pay-per-click engine continues to deliver high-quality leads and first-time depositing customers to its B2B partners, underpinning strong commercial traction. The number of active partner accounts grew during the period, with new partnerships already contributing to total revenue. Operational efficiency remains a core focus, with operating expenses held relatively flat despite a significant increase in both revenue and EBITDA on the prior year comparable period.
Looking ahead to the second half of 2025, the Group’s priorities include continuing to scale the existing business as partner revenue grows and further diversifying its marketing channel mix. Technology remains central to operations, with early adoption of AI and high levels of automation continuing to underpin performance. The Company remains confident in delivering another year of material revenue and EBITDA growth.
Commenting on the outlook for the remainder of the year, Executive Chairman Ronny Breivik said:
“B90 is no longer just a turnaround story; it is now a technology-led B2B marketing growth story. Strong year-on-year growth confirms that our pivot from B2C gambling operations to a leaner, B2B-led model is working. Our first-half results represent clear progress and position us well for the remainder of the year.
“We now have a solid platform to scale more aggressively, and our focus will be on growing revenues from existing assets; expanding our partner base; unlocking new geographies; and investing in next-generation marketing channels.
“Technology remains at the core of our model, and we will continue to embrace AI and automation to ensure efficiency at scale. We remain confident in delivering another year of material revenue and EBITDA growth.”
