Monzo and TrueLayer team up to protect vulnerable customers

Published

on

Reading Time: 2 minutes

We’re running a joint pilot to create an open banking powered gambling block

Monzo was the first bank to introduce a Gambling Block in 2018, following demand from customers who wanted help controlling their gambling addictions. Over 275,000 Monzo customers have chosen to activate the Monzo Gambling Block and less than 10% have ever switched it off permanently.

The Gambling Block is a completely optional tool that blocks card payments to gambling firms. Customers can apply to their Monzo account themselves in the app or by speaking to a member of Monzo’s customer services team.

However, with more and more gambling providers switching to convenient, open banking powered payments, Monzo and TrueLayer have teamed up to offer the same protections for customers using these new payment methods to gamble. This pilot means that Monzo customers will be able to benefit from an extended gambling block that prevents card transactions and open banking powered payments to operators supported by TrueLayer.

We believe that banks like Monzo and open banking providers like TrueLayer have an important role to play in offering customers greater control over how they spend their money.

How it works

Right now, Monzo customers can request to block transactions made to gambling providers, from their account. To remove the block, a customer who has opted out will need to speak to Monzo’s customer support team and wait 48 hours to switch off the feature.

Most of the gambling blocks currently on the market today work by blocking card payments to specific  ‘merchant category codes’, assigned by card schemes (like Mastercard or Visa). These codes let the bank know what type of business their customer is trying to pay, before they send their money. However, these merchant category codes are only available for card payments – not open banking powered payments. As more and more consumers switch to these new, convenient methods, we need to act to make sure they could access the same protections.

Now, TrueLayer will automatically let Monzo know, via an enhanced API call, any time their customer attempts an open banking payment to a gambling firm specifically. This additional data access enables Monzo to prevent the payment on the customers’ behalf if they have their gambling block activated.

This is a relatively straightforward change that Monzo and TrueLayer engineers were able to build in a few days. However it could make a huge difference for those struggling with gambling addiction.

What it means for the future of the industry

Every consumer should have access to a gambling block, regardless of who they bank with – or how they pay.

This is relatively simple for banks and open banking providers to put in place, but can have a big impact on someone’s well being. Other banks and open banking providers should follow our lead, to allow gambling blocks to cover non-card payments.

Providing customers with self exclusion tools for gambling is only the beginning, and there’s so much more that can be done.

Open banking providers offer a unique opportunity to help gambling operators seamlessly support those experiencing gambling harms – and empower consumers to stay in control of their finances. Initiatives like affordability checks to flag at-risk players earlier, spending limits to help ensure players do not overextend themselves, and friction free identity checks can all be improved using open banking.

By enabling the right types of protections for all players, gambling can remain a purely social activity, rather than one with life-altering negative effects.

Qzino Affiliate Program: Daily Profit Sharing, Tokenized Rewards, and Lifetime Revenue

How Qzino Is Redefining Affiliate Partnerships in Crypto iGaming

The Affiliate Model in Crypto iGaming Is Changing — and Qzino Is Leading That Shift

The crypto iGaming affiliate market is moving away from short-term commission models toward long-term, ownership-based partnerships. Affiliates today are looking for transparent revenue, sustainable earnings, and a direct connection to platform growth.

The Qzino Affiliate Program addresses this shift by introducing daily profit sharing, tokenized rewards, and lifetime revenue participation — all built into a single Web3-native ecosystem.

What Is Qzino?

Qzino is a crypto iGaming platform designed around decentralized ownership and transparent economics.

The ecosystem includes:

  • 10,000+ casino, sports, and esports games
  • AI-powered analytics for sports and esports betting
  • Provably fair mechanics with on-chain verification
  • A native Qzino token $QZI used for rewards, governance, and profit participation
  • A daily profit-sharing mechanism allocating up to 50% of platform revenue to token holders

Behind the project is a team of 100+ industry professionals with direct experience building and scaling platforms ranked among the top 10 global crypto casinos.

Qzino operates under an official Anjouan Gambling License and applies modern compliance standards while maintaining the flexibility and openness of Web3 infrastructure.

The Core Innovation: Daily Profit Sharing

At the heart of Qzino’s ecosystem lies its profit-sharing model.

Unlike traditional platforms that retain the majority of revenue, Qzino distributes up to 50% of platform revenue allocated for token-based rewards — including affiliates.

This means:

  • Affiliate income is directly linked to platform performance
  • Earnings grow as the ecosystem grows
  • Rewards continue long after the first referral

Instead of chasing volume, affiliates are incentivized to build quality traffic, long-term communities, and sustainable growth.

This model transforms affiliates from traffic providers into economic participants.

Inside the Qzino Affiliate Program: A Live, Multi-Stage Ecosystem

The Qzino Affiliate Program is not a static commission plan. It’s a living ecosystem designed to scale alongside the platform.

Stage 1 — Platform Launch & Farming Season (Live)

With Qzino now live, affiliates earn through a dual-reward structure:

  1. Revenue Share from Player Activity. Affiliates earn a percentage of the revenue generated by referred users from day one.
  2. Farming Points. Every bet placed by referred players generates farming points. These points accumulate over time and are later converted into Qzino tokens during the airdrop phase.

This gamified system rewards engagement, not just acquisition — encouraging affiliates to stay active and invested.

Stage 2 — Token Generation Event & Scaling

Following the Token Generation Event (TGE), the affiliate economy becomes fully tokenized.

At this stage, affiliates gain access to:

  • Daily profit sharing in Qzino tokens
  • Lifetime revenue share on all referred users
  • Sub-affiliate earnings, enabling network-based income
  • Asset growth potential, tied to token performance

This creates a layered earning model that compounds over time — one of the most advanced structures currently available in crypto iGaming.

How Affiliates Earn with Qzino: Revenue Share, Tokens, and Daily Profit Participation

The Qzino Affiliate Program is designed for long-term sustainability, not quick wins.

Affiliates benefit from multiple income streams:

  • Up to 50% Lifetime Revenue Share. Earn up to half of the revenue generated by referred players — without time limits.
  • Tokenized Airdrop Rewards. All user activity generates points that convert into Qzino tokens, unlocking profit participation.
  • Daily Profit Sharing. Receive a share of platform profits every single day — directly tied to ecosystem growth.
  • Sub-Affiliate Network. Invite other partners and earn from their performance, creating scalable passive income.

This structure ensures that every action inside the ecosystem has long-term value.

Why Qzino Is Not “Just Another Affiliate Program”

Traditional affiliate systems reward promotion. Qzino rewards participation and ownership.

From early MiniApp engagement to token-based profit sharing, every stage of the affiliate journey is designed to align partner incentives with platform success.

Affiliates don’t just market Qzino —

they grow with it,

earn with it,

and own a part of it.

Join the Qzino Affiliate Program and earn from platform growth — not just referrals.

Why Slots Remain The Spearhead Of Global Casino Gaming Marketing

Published

why-slots-remain-the-spearhead-of-global-casino-gaming-marketing

Casino gaming companies spend countless hours trying to piece together their next big marketing campaign. For some, they can throw the kitchen sink at it, spend millions of dollars, and it can fall flat; for smaller brands, they can have a makeshift promotional concept that brings in a global audience.

There’s no clear-cut way to guarantee success when it comes to global casino gaming marketing, but for many casinos, it’s hard to go wrong with a promotional idea that has a slot game as the centerpiece.

But why? What’s behind this enduring appeal, and even in the light of brand new concepts ranging from VR gaming, although this has cooled recently, to the power of blockchain and cryptocurrency, why do slots remain such an integral part of the marketing strategy?

Slots Welcome Bonuses & Their Simplicity

Unlike many casino games, which can often involve strategy and rules, slot games do not require the same level of attention. They’re games that require no skill, and as long as you have a basic grasp of how to set a betting amount, the number of lines, and flick through the info and payout rules of the slot game, they are not difficult games to wrap your head around.

Now, this doesn’t mean they aren’t fun, or that their modular nature doesn’t create almost countless innovative ideas. But it is the simplicity and the fact that the games are to the point, easy to access, and have something for every type of casino gamer, that make them the obvious candidates for marketing ideas.

A slots welcome bonus may come in many different formats, but they all have the same goal of showcasing to you the quality of the game, the provider, and, just like the games themselves, a slots welcome bonus can be modular, fit around your gaming style, and offer a cost-effective insight into how a casino operates.

The Importance Of Choice

Those of you who have played slot games will have a solid understanding of how many titles are out there. It’s no exaggeration to say there are thousands of themes and ideas, with more added to the vast global market each passing day. Therefore, for those people who utilize welcome bonuses that leverage slots, you often have a selection of games you can browse.

While other bonuses will try to encompass other parts of the site. If you don’t play blackjack, for instance, then you’re not going to check out a blackjack bonus; it’s pretty simple math. But if you are somebody who enjoys slots, or have a passing interest, the range of games available means that you can shop around, find slot ideas that are most suited to your gaming style, and get a true idea of the scope of a casino platform and its gaming library.

A Foot In The Door

In the days before online casino gaming, conventional casinos relied on slots as their main attraction. We’ve seen how multiple other areas of the gambling market have moved online. While the likes of Powerball have adjusted, keeping the essence of their design and funding local projects, they have also allowed digital audiences to purchase tickets and expanded their markets online.

Online casinos have operated in a similar vein, drawing on the success of land-based slots in conventional casinos in the days before the internet to adjust their business models and shift their marketing strategies online

They continue to comprise large sections of conventional casinos, but when it comes to marketing ideas and promotions, playing with bonus money is one of the more efficient ways to play and potentially win, because there is little upfront cost. However, you should not see slots or any gambling game as a source of income; they are meant for fun, and you should only ever gamble with money you can afford to lose.

Could It Change In The Future?

Bonuses are a vital tool casinos use to promote their games. As part of a marketing strategy, it’s the sheer size of the gaming options and the plethora of themes and genres that make it such a key part of the market.

They’ve proven to be a fruitful idea for casino companies expanding their brands, and even amid new payment methods, the rise of crypto slots, and a host of other innovations in the igaming market, slots remain the spearhead of global casino gaming marketing. Throughout the last 25 years, there’s no stone that casinos have left unturned when it comes to marketing.

The fabric of the industry may have shifted, with social media influencers, SEO, and company social media pages becoming the frontline of the marketing world, but slot gaming ideas still comprise the largest portion of the casino gaming industry.

Despite dipping into blackjack, poker, and other niche games, and fusing them with bonus ideas and free spins, it’s the standalone slots promotions that often yield the best engagement and customer conversion rates.
