RPGTV to feature Ladbrokes Golden Jacket and Shelbourne Gold Cup

RPGTV will take it first step into daytime racing transmission with coverage of the Ladbrokes Golden Jacket following that up with evening coverage of the Shelbourne Gold Cup on Saturday 6th February.
The Ladbrokes Golden Jacket has been a Saturday morning staple at Crayford for over 30 years having first been staged at Harringay during the 1970s when it sporadically featured as a horse-racing substitute on ITV.
It is the most valuable off-course betting industry competition and, apart from a four-year flirtation with an evening final which ended in 2019, has had an iconic Saturday morning role since its inception.
As a result, RPGTV coverage has been restricted to the first round only in previous years but the whole competition will now be covered in its entirety on three consecutive Saturday mornings, February 6, 13 and 20. Trial stakes for the ÂŁ17,500 Category One event begin over the 714m course this Saturday evening, live on RPGTV.
The Shelbourne Gold Cup, known as the Best Car Parks Gold Cup in 2021 for sponsorship purposes, was first staged in 1998 when won by the Denis Shanahan-trained Real Branch and quickly established itself as the leading early-year competition.
Run over the 525 yards course at Shelbourne Park, it is regarded as an ideal starting point for leading four-bend greyhounds and has been won by legendary names such as Paul Hennessyâs Late Late Show (2001) and the late Seamus Grahamâs Mineola Farloe (2006). Hennessy is the competitionâs leading trainer with seven victories, while Liam Dowling has won two of the last three renewals.
The 2017 staging was abandoned at the semi-final stage as the first high-profile victim of a dispute between the then Irish Greyhound Board and the Dublin Greyhound Owners and Breeders Association over the announcement of the closure of Haroldâs Cross.
Kevan Moretti, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of GTV commented: â
âRPGTV powers on with a set of top class racing in the first week of its new High-definition transmission platform being launched, and there are further announcements still to come. Breaking into daytime racing coverage is another first and we look forward to our audience relishing RPGTVâs expanding schedule.
Following on from RPGTVâs coverage of the Irish Derby last year we are delighted to have racing back-on from Shelbourne Park featuring as a Saturday evening feature in the first week of our HD output.
Ger Dollard, CEO of Greyhound Racing Ireland, said:
âIâm delighted that the Best Car Parks Gold Cup from Shelbourne Park is the first Irish greyhound racing competition to be featured live on RPGTV in 2021. It promises to be an excellent night of racing and we are delighted to be delivering live competitive greyhound racing from Ireland.â
Ian Smyth, Director of Racing for Crayfordâs owners, Entain Group, said:
âWeâre delighted that the extension of RPGTVâs coverage means weâve been able to retain the traditional Saturday morning slot for the Golden Jacket.
Current circumstances mean betting shops will be unable to provide coverage this year, but this announcement ensures that a great and long-standing event remains accessible to all.
The staying division has thrown up some fantastic racing in the last 12 months and weâre sure to see some stars at Crayford in the build-up over the next two Saturday evenings and the following Saturday morning when the main event kicks off.â
RPGTV executive producer Clive Lawrence said:
âSaturday morning action from Crayford and Romford is expected to become a firm favourite with not just our regular viewers but perhaps also some new ones captivated by the action in their living rooms at breakfast, or maybe brunch, time.
The show will also welcome increased viewer interaction with a new weekly competition being introduced, while the other main sporting action of the day will also be featured.
Of the Shelbourne coverage, Lawrence added: âOur ambition is to bring the best quality racing from both sides of the Irish Sea and the first big night for Irish racing in 2021 is the final of the Best Car Parks Gold Cup from Shelbourne Park. Covid regulations permitting, we will have a reporter onsite for interviews.â

Arizona Department of Gaming Issues Cease-and-Desists on âPhoenix Dream Home Sweepstakesâ

Â
The Arizona Department of Gaming (âthe Departmentâ or âADGâ) issued cease-and-desist orders to Raffall, a company based in the United Kingdom, and to an Arizona resident using the platform to promote the âPhoenix Dream Home Sweepstakes,â currently advertised online and through a separate website, winthisazhome.com, which is marketing the chance to âWin a Luxury $1.3M Arizona Mountainside Home.â
According to the Departmentâs investigation, the promotion required participants to purchase entries for a prize to be awarded and promised either a home transfer or a cash payout, depending on sales volume. The investigation further determined that the organizers intended to profit from ticket sales. Based on these findings, the Department alleges the activity constitutes an illegal gambling operation under Arizona law.
As part of the enforcement action, Raffall has been directed to remove all gambling-related drawings or giveaways targeting Arizona residents, and the Arizona resident has also been ordered to cease promoting or conducting any unlawful gambling activity.
âIllegal gambling can take many forms and it does not matter if it is labeled a sweepstakes, raffle, giveaway, or drawing,â said Jackie Johnson, Director of the Arizona Department of Gaming. âUnregulated operations put Arizonans at risk because there is no oversight, and therefore no accountability or safeguards in place. The Department will continue to take enforcement action to protect consumers, and we urge the public to learn what is legal before participating in or hosting any gambling activity.â
Why This Operation Is Illegal
Arizona law prohibits gambling unless it is specifically authorized (A.R.S. Title 13, Chapter 33). There is no exception for so-called âsweepstakes.â Raffles may only be conducted by Arizona charitable, tax-exempt organizations (A.R.S. § 13-3302(B) & (C)), and personal profit is prohibited. Only individuals 21 years of age or older may legally participate in gambling in Arizona.
Because this operation is accessible to users under the age of 21, is conducted for personal gain, and is not conducted by a qualified nonprofit, it violates Arizona law. Additional potential felony violations include:
- Promotion of Gambling â A.R.S. § 13-3303
- Illegal Control of an Enterprise â A.R.S. § 13-2312
- Money Laundering â A.R.S. § 13-2317
Furthermore, foreign-based platforms, such as Raffall, do not adhere to Arizona or U.S. gambling laws, leaving consumers without essential protections.
Consumer Protection Advisory
As illegal online gambling activity continues to rise, the Department urges all residents and visitors to be cautious when participating in gaming, whether online or in-person. Regulated gaming provides important consumer protections, ensuring fair play and fair drawings, data security, accountability, and a safer overall experience.
If you purchased entries in this illegal gambling operation:
- Stop participating immediately and do not buy additional entries.
- Contactyourbank or credit card company to dispute the charges or request a chargeback. Your financial institution is the best avenue for seeking a refund.
- Monitor your accounts for unauthorized transactions.
- If you suspect identity theft, report it to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC):
- IdentityTheft.gov (English)
- RobodeIdentidad.gov (Spanish)
Important: The Department cannot assist with refund requests or individual disputes against unlicensed platforms. Consumers must work through their financial institutions to protect themselves and/or retain legal counsel. They may also file complaints with the Arizona Attorney Generalâs Consumer Information and Complaints Unit at (602) 542-5763 or azag.gov/consumer.
