Racing Post launch new downloadable betting shop version

Racing Post recently launched a new QR code system that allows customers in betting shops to download the daily newspaper for free to their mobile devices. The new initiative was launched post-lockdown to support high street betting shops increase footfall to their shops and offer customers a chance to read the paper in a safe manner.
Each day the regular betting shop display edition which is pinned to the wall of nearly 8000 betting shops in the UK and Ireland will have a unique QR code at the front of it. Once the customer scans the QR code it then takes them to the landing page to read today’s newspaper and help them make an informed betting decision.
This is the latest in a line of retail improvements provided by Racing Post following last months announcement they would be rolling out new interactive screens for Toals bookmakers in the UK.
Discussing the new QR codes and the popularity of the downloads, Spotlight Sports Group Retail Director, Alan Pepperell said:
‘Post-lockdown we know bookmakers want to get as many punters in their shops in a controlled and safe environment. We also know most visitors enjoy sitting and reading the paper before making their betting decisions for the day. We decided to trial the QR codes to help customers who may not want to read the paper in the shop but can now do so on their mobile device.
Pepperell continued: ‘We’ve seen from the data that this has been a popular initiative and we know the appetite for the paper never goes away. However, in the current climate, we understand if customers are apprehensive about picking up a newspaper and as we’ve seen in other high street shops and restaurants the QR codes are a simple way of getting a digital version to the user. We will continue to work with our partners to ensure we deliver the best experience in shops in the safest way possible.’

GGBET UA CEO Sergii Mishchenko shared his thoughts about the collaboration and the future of the partnership: “GGBET chooses its partners carefully. Signing football clubs just for the sake of a portfolio is not the approach we take. Shared values, a drive for growth, and a desire to evolve and improve are all important to us. Our partnership with FC Zorya is a brilliant example of our philosophy when it comes to collaboration. We only started working together at the end of 2024, and we’re already seeing results. And we have many new and interesting things to look forward to in the future.”
During the press conference, club representatives also shared the results of their winter training sessions and discussed how the team is preparing for the second half of the Ukrainian Premier League season. The club also announced that it has signed some new players: Bosnia’s Dejan Popara and Ukraine’s Volodymyr Bilotserkovets.
You may recall that previously GGBET UA broadened its support for Ukrainian football by partnering with FC Dynamo Kyiv. A press conference with the club was held in autumn 2024 and was an important step forward in terms of strengthening the brand’s ties with Ukrainian football.

Missouri Sports Betting Launch Delayed Until Fall 2025

Missouri’s plan to launch legal sports betting this summer has been delayed after Secretary of State Denny Hoskins rejected an emergency rulemaking request filed by the Missouri Gaming Commission (MGC). The decision, announced on February 21, means that regulators must follow the standard rulemaking process, effectively pushing the anticipated June launch to late summer or fall 2025.
Hoskins stated that the proposed emergency rules, which were submitted to Governor Mike Kehoe on January 27, did not meet the legal requirements for emergency approval.
Under Missouri law, emergency rulemaking can only be granted if there is “immediate danger to public health, safety, or welfare” or if the rule is necessary to “preserve a compelling governmental interest that requires an early effective date.” Hoskins determined that sports betting regulations did not meet these conditions, meaning they must proceed through the standard rulemaking process, which includes a public input period.
The MGC had initially targeted June 2025 as the market’s launch date, despite the state’s legal deadline requiring that wagering begin no later than December 1, 2025. Following Hoskins’ rejection, the MGC confirmed that its proposed licensing rules, which were filed alongside the emergency request, will become effective on August 30, 2025.
