Coljuegos, the regulatory authority overseeing gambling sites in Colombia, has intensified its efforts to block illegal gambling websites. Coljuegos will now directly send requests to Internet Service Providers to block websites that operate online games without paying the respective royalties.

Coljuegos President Marco Emilio Hincapié said this strategy will be implemented based on Circular 017 of 2025, issued by the Ministry of ICT, which defined the guidelines and procedures for blocking websites dedicated to the exploitation, sale, payment, or advertising of unauthorized games of chance.

“From the Government of Change, we are working together to protect the gambling industry. After several roundtable discussions with the Ministry of Information and Communications (MINTIC), we were able to simplify the process of blocking illegal gambling websites,” Hincapié said.

The president of the entity highlighted that, to date, nearly 26,600 blocking orders have been issued to unauthorized betting sites.

“With this new procedure, we hope to block illegal platforms more quickly. We will no longer have to submit requests to different entities; instead, we will be able to order blocks directly from internet providers,” Hincapié said.

This Ministry of Information and Communications (MINTIC) measure is issued in compliance with Decree 0175 of 2025, which adopted tax measures due to the state of internal unrest declared by the National Government.

“In addition to fighting illegal operators, our goal is to protect resources for peace and health, as well as provide greater safeguards for the 14 authorized operators in the country,” Hincapié added.

Coljuegos, the regulatory authority overseeing gambling sites in Colombia, continues its efforts to block illegal gambling websites. Since the beginning of the Government of Change in 2022, Coljuegos has issued a total of 46,228 blocking orders against websites that operate unauthorized betting.

According to the president of Coljuegos, Marco Emilio Hincapié, this is the result of an intense fight against gambling structures that operate outside the law.

“Never before has an administration fought illegal gambling with such force. At Coljuegos, and through our Artificial Intelligence Center, we have optimized the detection and blocking of unauthorized websites,” the official said.

He added: “We have been working with the Ministry of ICT to simplify the process with Internet Service Providers and effectively block any page that operates or promotes gambling illegally.”

It is worth noting that, throughout the history of the entity, 55,658 blocking requests have been issued, of which 83% correspond to the Government of Change.

“While past administrations only issued around 9,000 blocking requests, we multiplied that figure by 5, and in just 4 years. Illegals have never had it so bad,” Hincapié asserted.

Furthermore, the official reiterated the importance of players only betting with the 15 operators authorized by Coljuegos.

“By playing on legal websites, you are not only guaranteeing the protection of your data and your bets, but you are also contributing to the health of less fortunate Colombians,” concluded the president of Coljuegos.

Betplay and Super Astro remain two of the most profitable and popular gambling brands in Colombia. In 2025 alone, these two products, belonging to the Corredor Empresarial group, paid $347.587 billion in monopoly royalties.

“These funds paid to the Nation were transferred to finance the health system. Furthermore, they represent an 11% increase compared to the monopoly revenues paid for both products in 2024,” said Marco Emilio Hincapié, president of Coljuegos.

Similarly, between January and the first half of March 2026, Betplay and Super Astro have already paid out around $106.259 million, representing an increase of 1.56% compared to the same period in 2025.

“At Coljuegos, we have strengthened the innovative gaming industry, including Super Astro and online betting. That is why we continue to make history every day in raising funds for healthcare from this sector,” said the president of Coljuegos.

It is important to highlight that, during 2025, Betplay received deposits totaling $5.5 trillion from bettors. In addition, the platform contributed $745.594 billion in VAT, funds that were allocated to support peacebuilding efforts in the affected territories. Meanwhile, in 2025, Super Astro reported sales of $754.820 billion.

“Our commitment is to continue protecting the legal industry. That is why we will continue to fight tirelessly against those who operate unauthorized gambling and harm both businesses and the resources allocated to the health of Colombians,” Hincapié added.
