Indian Gaming Association Introduces TribalBond Connections Program
The Indian Gaming Association is introducing TribalBond, an exciting new initiative designed to foster meaningful connections between tribal gaming casino executives and solution providers at this year’s Indian Gaming Tradeshow & Convention, taking place March 31-April 3 in San Diego, CA. This innovative program will feature a dynamic “speed networking” format, aimed at creating efficient, valuable interactions and personalized experiences for participants.
As the largest gathering of tribal leaders and casino executives in the country, the Indian Gaming Tradeshow & Convention is the meeting place where the community gathers to learn, network, and create new connections. TribalBond was created with tribal casino executives in mind, designed to bring operators and solution providers together through structured meeting sessions that cater specifically to their unique needs. By facilitating targeted networking opportunities, TribalBond empowers attendees to build connections, share insights, and unlock new opportunities. A special focus will be put on equipping solution providers with knowledge and insights on how to effectively engage and build long-lasting relationships with the tribal gaming industry.
The Indian Gaming Association has tapped into the extensive industry knowledge and experience of Frances Alvarez, to lead this program. Alvarez is a highly respected leader in the tribal gaming industry, with over 24 years of service. She remains engaged and influential in Indian Country through her roles as Chairwoman of the Tribal Gaming Protection Network, President of the National Native American Hall of Fame, and Gaming Commissioner for the Wilton Rancheria Gaming Commission. In these capacities, she builds strong relationships and fosters opportunities for collaborative success. Through her firm, Rezonate LLC, Alvarez demonstrates her unwavering commitment to service while actively working to reshape the conversation surrounding tribal relations.
Indian Gaming Association Chairman Ernie Stevens Jr said: “We are excited to introduce TribalBond at the Indian Gaming Tradeshow & Convention. Our goal is to provide Indian Country with the best experience to foster meaningful connections and support their communities. This program will be a game-changer to support the innovation that tribal gaming is known for. We could not think of a better person than Frances to help us introduce this program to the event.”
The highlight of TribalBond is its engaging speed networking format. This fast-paced, efficient program ensures participants maximize their time at the tradeshow while establishing meaningful professional relationships. The 2025 event will feature five rounds of speed networking over the course of April 2 and 3. Participants in the TribalBond program will enjoy exclusive benefits designed to enhance their experience as well as their professional growth.
“As a long-time supporter of the Indian Gaming Tradeshow & Convention, I’m excited to lead the TribalBond program. My aim is to support the tribal gaming community by connecting them with innovative products and insights to enhance their operations and communities. Equally important, I will provide solution providers with the knowledge and resources needed to foster meaningful, lasting partnerships with Indian Country. I am encouraged by the positive feedback we have already received from the tribal gaming community regarding TribalBond,” Alvarez said.

Joint AGA-IGA Letter Addressing Unregulated Sports Event Contracts
Below is a joint letter from the American Gaming Association and Indian Gaming Association on addressing unregulated sports event contracts in upcoming cryptocurrency market structure legislation.
Dear Members of the United States Senate and House of Representatives,
On behalf of the American Gaming Association (AGA) and the Indian Gaming Association (IGA), we write to urge timely congressional action to address the explosion of unregulated sports event contracts being offered by prediction markets. Since these contracts, that are indistinguishable from legal sports betting, were launched last January, they have grown exponentially in trading volume and have expanded beyond the outcome of single games to include complex parlays and even potential wagers on the collegiate transfer portal. This growth has occurred by exploiting regulatory inaction by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), which undermines state law and tribal sovereignty and flies in the face of existing federal laws and regulation intended to protect consumers and the integrity of our nation’s financial markets. We firmly believe that congressional consideration of cryptocurrency market structure legislation provides an important, bipartisan opportunity to prevent sports betting and casino gambling under the guise of “event contracts.”
Together, our associations represent the legal regulated gaming industry in the United States that generates $329 billion in annual economic impact, produces $53 billion in tax revenue, and supports 1.8 million jobs. As one of the most highly regulated industries in the United States, licensed gaming operators work with more than 8,400 state and tribal regulators across the country to ensure our industry has transparency, integrity, strict consumer safeguards and responsible gaming practices. It’s a proven framework that ensures local control and protects players and the public while delivering billions of dollars in community benefits.
For decades, we have followed a uniquely American approach to gaming – an approach that has been the foundation of our success. This system gives the people a voice on whether and how to allow gaming, which creates a social contract between states, tribes and our industry: when we earn the privilege to enter your community, we deliver benefits in return.
In 2018, the Supreme Court overturned the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act and ruled that states have the right to determine whether to legalize sports betting. Since then, 39 states and the District of Columbia have done so, which in many jurisdictions has included close coordination with tribal authorities. Where sports betting has been legalized, states and tribes have set strict guardrails to ensure strong protections such as:
• Minimum betting ages (21+ in most jurisdictions)
• Licensing and suitability requirements for operators
• Anti-money laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) protocols
• Mandatory responsible gaming resources, including self-exclusion programs
• Independent integrity monitoring and compliance audits
In contrast, several CFTC registered prediction market platforms have made self-certified event contracts available to anyone 18 and over, in all 50 states, circumventing state and tribal gaming laws and denying states and tribes hundreds of millions of dollars of critically needed revenue for schools, roads and first responders. The CFTC has not reviewed or approved any of these contracts as more entities enter the market, and their offerings get more audacious.
The CFTC’s own regulations – adopted pursuant to the Commodity Exchange Act (CEA) – prohibit event contracts regarding terrorism, assassination, war, gaming, or an activity that is unlawful under any State or Federal law. According to 39 state Attorneys General, these contracts are contrary to their state laws. They violate the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA) that gives tribes exclusivity to offer gaming products on their land. Sports event contracts also violate the federal Wire Act that makes it illegal to offer sports wagers across state lines.
And while the gaming industry has focused our efforts on stopping unregulated sports wagering, we have seen a troubling proliferation of other concerning betting categories that seek to capitalize on tragedy, invite manipulation, and undermine public trust. Most recently, questions and concerns have been raised regarding contracts tied to the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and ongoing armed conflicts abroad – categories that would never be permitted under state or tribal law.
These contracts are being offered in flagrant disregard of state laws, tribal sovereignty, the Commodity Exchange Act, and CFTC regulations. They mislead consumers into believing that a sports bet is an investment, fail to protect the young and the vulnerable, open the door to money laundering, match fixing and insider trading. They rob state budgets and tribal finances while simultaneously forcing states and tribes to expend massive legal resources to defend their sovereignty.
During his confirmation hearing, Chairman Selig made it clear that the CFTC would not rein in sports betting contracts under his leadership, instead deferring to the outcome of litigation that could take years to be fully resolved. However, Mr. Selig also said that the CFTC would follow Congress if they were to step in and speak on these contracts. Therefore, it is critical that Congress act swiftly to include legislative language in the cryptocurrency market structure legislation that reenforces existing law and prohibits gaming through CFTC-registered platforms. We stand ready to work with you on this issue and appreciate your consideration.
Sincerely,
Bill Miller

NOVOMATIC Americas Makes Sales Strides at IGA 2025
NOVOMATIC Americas demonstrated strong commercial momentum at this year’s Indian Gaming Association (IGA) Trade Show, held March 31–April 3 in San Diego. With a focused, performance-driven presence, the team showcased an expanded portfolio of cabinets, games, and scalable merchandising that directly addressed the priorities of tribal operators nationwide. The result: a pipeline of new opportunities and a reaffirmed position as a key partner in the North American tribal gaming landscape.
V.I.P. X Series leads with floor presence and performance
At the core of the NOVOMATIC exhibit were the V.I.P. X Royal 1.85 and V.I.P. X Dream 3.43 cabinets – both drawing significant interest from operators due to their premium format and proven ability to elevate floor entertainment. The V.I.P. X Dream’s triple curved display and panoramic bonus presentation make it ideal for high-engagement content, while the V.I.P. X Royal’s portrait orientation provides maximum impact for vertical progressives and cascading bonus mechanics.
These cabinets were shown with key new titles which demonstrated their potential to extend time-on-device and support diverse bet levels. Attendee feedback reinforced the V.I.P. X cabinets as a high interest level product.
Building on NOVOMATIC’s performance-first product strategy, the new game lineup emphasized volatility choice, interactive features, and multi-level progressive appeal:
• Ultra Boost 3 Treasures Tiger Storm captured attention with its “pot-style” multi-feature bonus, expanding reels, and mystery multipliers – earning strong interest in installs in Oklahoma and the Upper Midwest.
• Piggy Prizes – Wand of Riches, already gaining traction with operators, combined vibrant visuals and 15-reel gameplay with a “Feed the Pig” mechanic and cash reveals. Interest was high, with tribal groups planning installations in Q2.
• The Apex Pro Gaming ELEMENT Series (Clover Twist and Clover Inferno) from our technology partner stood out with independent art styles and flexible gameplay – suited for various player segments and floor placements.
Also at IGA was NOVOMATIC Americas’ modular point-of-sale signage solution, which drew consistent praise for its cost-efficiency and customizable display capability. Tribal buyers appreciated the flexibility to scale signage according to floor size, configuration, and budget without sacrificing visual impact. This new approach contributed directly to increased interest in the Piggy Prizes title and supported bundled placement discussions.
Throughout the event, NOVOMATIC executives engaged in targeted discussions with leading tribal operators focused on floor optimization, premium zone development, and 2025 roadmap alignment. These conversations emphasized new positioning strategies for high-limit, pot style games, and ETG zones, with renewed interest in NOVO UNITY PRO terminals for communal electronic table game setups.
In addition, operators responded positively to NOVOMATIC’s enhanced merchandising programs, designed to drive stronger ROI from the first day of installation.
Jakob Rothwangl, Managing Director of NOVOMATIC Americas, said: “The success at IGA 2025 reflects the strength of our team and the relevance of our product strategy in the tribal gaming market. The response to our latest cabinet innovations and game offerings reinforces our position as a trusted, performance-driven partner in North America. It is an exciting time for NOVOMATIC Americas as we continue to grow.”
