EGBA Members Assess Minor Protection Advertising Measures in Latest Code Monitoring

The European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) has released a summary of findings from the second monitoring exercise of the association’s pan-European responsible advertising code, conducted by the independent European Advertising Standards Alliance (EASA). Following the first monitoring exercise in 2022, this latest assessment focused on minor protection measures, revealing strong compliance in traditional advertising channels while identifying areas for improvement in social media.
The monitoring exercise, concluded in December 2024, assessed 120 individual advertisements from EGBA members across multiple platforms including television, YouTube, websites and social media channels in four selected markets: Greece, Spain, Romania and the UK. Self-Regulatory Organisations (SROs in these markets assessed the compliance of the advertisements with the EGBA code and national regulatory and self-regulatory requirements, focusing particularly on content moderation, managing exposure of minors and safeguards against minors’ access to gambling content online.
The results demonstrated high compliance among EGBA members in television advertising and YouTube platforms, with successful implementation of key minor protection measures such as age-limit requirements and restrictions on the use of celebrities and cartoon characters. Social media advertising showed strong adherence to age-limit symbol requirements, but the monitoring identified a need for more consistent application of age-gating mechanisms and forward advice notices across members’ social media profiles.
The assessment of influencer marketing practices of two EGBA members, in Spain and the UK, revealed strong compliance with content moderation and appeal restrictions, while highlighting the need for enhanced transparency through consistent use of paid marketing disclosures (e.g. using an #ad hashtag).
EGBA and its members will use the monitoring results to further enhance the effectiveness of the code and will continue to advocate for responsible advertising practices across the entire European gambling sector.
“This latest monitoring exercise demonstrates our members’ commitment to responsible advertising and minor protection. While we’re encouraged by our members’ high compliance rates across traditional media channels, we recognise there’s more work to be done in the social media space. At EGBA, we’re dedicated to promoting the highest advertising standards and will continue to work with our members to strengthen compliance with our code across all platforms,” Maarten Haijer, Secretary General of EGBA, said.

The upgraded offering will give operators access to increased in-play opportunities and new micro markets
Altenar has enhanced its sportsbook offering with an upgraded tennis vertical, now featuring official TDI data through a strategic integration with Sportradar.
The recent launch brings fast, live data from ATP and Challenger Tour events, increasing the number of in-play betting opportunities and introducing innovative micro markets. By leveraging Sportradar’s advanced AI and deep tennis data from TDI, Altenar can now process hundreds of thousands of data points from every match, offering a significant boost in betting options for users.

Tom Horn Gaming, a leading supplier of iGaming content, is thrilled to announce the release of its latest slot game, Wild Skyfire, launching on 4 March. This enchanting slot transports players to the serene town of Hanabi, where a breathtaking fireworks-lit night sky sets the stage for an unforgettable gaming experience.
Blending traditional slot mechanics with a cosy, atmospheric aesthetic, the slot offers players a new way to enjoy gaming – one that’s both familiar and refreshingly different.

Unlike fast-paced, high-intensity slots, Wild Skyfire takes a different approach, immersing players in a calm yet engaging environment. Its medium volatility ensures a balanced gaming experience, appealing to both casual and seasoned players alike.
One of the standout features of Wild Skyfire is the Wild symbol, which appears in both the base game and the bonus round. In the base game, the Wild symbol forms wild clusters, increasing the chances of higher wins.
Free Spins, triggered by three Scatter symbols, introduces Sticky Wilds for greater win potential. When activated, any Wild symbols that land during the Free Spins round remain in their positions for the duration of the feature, maximising the opportunities for big wins. Players can retrigger Free Spins multiple times, with each Scatter symbol awarding an extra spin.
For players who enjoy instant action, Wild Skyfire offers a Special Offer Bonus Buy feature. This allows players to immediately access the Free Spins round by purchasing it directly, skipping the wait and diving straight into the most thrilling part of the game.
“With Wild Skyfire we wanted to create something that stands out from the typical high-energy slots, offering a tranquil yet captivating adventure. Its serene atmosphere provides players with an immersive escape while delivering the action they love,” said Katarina Slaninova, Head of Marketing Communications at Tom Horn Gaming.
By offering a game that seamlessly blends tranquillity with gameplay excitement, the company caters to a broad audience looking for both traditional slot thrills and something refreshingly different.
Players can experience the magic firsthand when the game goes on general release on 4 March. They’re invited to explore the captivating world of Hanabi, where big wins shine as bright as the fireworks overhead.
