Kate Nicholls OBE to join UK Gambling Minister, Shadow Minister and fellow industry CEO’s at 2023 bacta Convention
Kate Nicholls OBE, CEO of UKHospitality and one of the most respected and influential voices in the sector is the latest thought-leader to accept an invitation to speak at this year’s bacta Convention (Wednesday 22nd November, County Hall, London).
Kate Nicholls will join a line-up of leading industry and political figures which includes the UK Minister responsible for gambling, The Rt Hon Stuart Andrew MP, the Shadow Minister, Alex Davies-Jones MP, the Gambling Commission’s Andrew Rhodes, Michael Dugher of the Betting and Gaming Council, the Bingo Association’s Miles Baron as well as representatives from The Bank of England who will be sharing the latest trends impacting payments including what the Bank is doing to protect access to cash.
Bacta CEO John White who is curating the Convention believes the line-up of speakers reflects the reputation enjoyed by the UK trade association and its members who are key supporters of economies and communities on the high street and at the coast.
He stated: “We have aimed extremely high in our endeavours to bring together the key voices from within and outside the industry and I’m delighted at the response we’ve had.
“Kate Nicholls OBE, our latest confirmed speaker played a pivotal role during the darkest days of lockdown when she took the hospitality sector’s arguments to the heart of government. It will be fascinating to listen to her perspective on that period, what help she believes the sector needs from future governments and how land-based hospitality businesses can contribute to the UK’s economic recovery.”
“The bacta Convention is part information exchange, part debate and part inspiration and I’m confident that our distinguished speakers will tick all of those boxes.”

EveryMatrix secures licensing approval in Alberta Canada
EveryMatrix has received conditional licensing approval from the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission (AGLC) to offer its iGaming technology in the Canadian province, marking another step in the company’s expansion across North America.
The approval enables the Group to provide its award-winning casino and sports platform technologies to licensed operators in Alberta, soon to become Canada’s second regulated iGaming territory following Ontario.
Alberta’s regulated iGaming market is expected to launch in July this year, opening the door for licensed operators to enter the province under its new framework.
At launch EveryMatrix will offer premium titles from its in-house studio, Fantasma Games, as well as aggregated content with further opportunities to expand its portfolio.
The approval further strengthens EveryMatrix’s position as a tier-1 provider in North America, where it already holds licences in multiple North American jurisdictions, including Ontario since 2022, New Jersey, Michigan, West Virginia, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania.
With a population of approximately five million, high digital adoption, and one of the strongest GDP per capita profiles in North America, Alberta is a high-potential iGaming jurisdiction.
EveryMatrix has already secured commercial opportunities in the province, with agreements in place to deliver both platform and in-house gaming content.
Rani Axon, Market Manager, North America, EveryMatrix, said: “Entering Alberta marks an exciting step for the Group as we expand further into one of North America’s most attractive regulated markets. This approval shows the strength of our compliance team and our readiness to meet regulatory requirements in any market.”
