Pollard Banknote Congratulates BCLC on the Launch of Canada’s First JAWS Instant Game
Pollard Banknote Limited has congratulated the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) on the launch of Canada’s first Scratch & Win instant ticket based on JAWS, the original summer blockbuster from Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment. This brand-new $5 game invites players to relive all the excitement of the Academy Award-winning movie in an entertaining new way. In its first three weeks on the market, the game has achieved sales of more than $1.6 million.
This summer marks 48 years since JAWS premiered in theatres. BCLC’s ticket, designed by Pollard Banknote, pays homage to the memorable movie poster, featuring iconic imagery that commands attention at retail. With a top prize of $100,000, the suspense of revealing the winning numbers is matched only by the suspense of waiting for the killer shark to appear onscreen.
The game is supported by a multifaceted marketing campaign produced by Pollard Banknote, which includes extensive social media support, digital terminal signage, and additional merchandise prizing, all leveraging the nostalgic visual assets of the original blockbuster.
“It’s safe to say this ticket has made a big splash with players. This fun addition to our Scratch & Win portfolio is a hit with our players, conjuring up nostalgia for an iconic summer blockbuster movie,” said Shirley Park, Senior Product Specialist at BCLC.
“We congratulate BCLC on the successful launch of Canada’s first Scratch & Win instant ticket based on JAWS. Our licensed games portfolio continues to grow with the addition of compelling new properties that we know will make great games. Thanks to BCLC’s player-first approach to its Scratch & Win portfolio, we’ve got another summer blockbuster on our hands,” said Brad Thompson, VP of Sales & Marketing at Pollard Banknote.

Pollard Banknote Awarded Five-year Contract Extension from the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation
Pollard Banknote Limited announced an extension to its Instant Ticket Printing Services Agreement with the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation (ILC). The original contract term began on December 30, 2013, and under this extension Pollard Banknote will continue to provide instant tickets, game design, and related services through December 31, 2028, with an option to renew for an additional five years.
The contract extends the successful and collaborative partnership Pollard Banknote and ILC have established over the past 35 years. As a coordinating agent representing all five Canadian lottery organizations, ILC has worked with Pollard Banknote throughout the years to leverage a variety of print innovations and regionally-specific strategies to deliver top-selling national games to players, which have consistently been significant drivers of overall sales for Canadian lotteries. Two recent examples are ILC’s latest launch of its $50, $100, $150 game, featuring the eye-catching hues of neon ink, and the Mystery Multiplier ticket with Pollard Banknote’s Flip Scratch innovation that features pop-up windows with additional scratch-off areas. Most recently, Pollard Banknote collaborated with ILC to expand its presence into the digital lottery landscape with the latest iteration of its Jackpot family of games—a key number match series of tickets which includes a 2nd chance contest where players can play an online slots-style game to earn bonus entries with each code they enter.
“We look forward to continuing our strong partnership with Pollard Banknote. Their expertise and experience in the industry has allowed us to bring exciting new concepts and instant games to the Canadian market. The contract extension will allow us to continue to deliver innovative and creative games that players love and that will generate revenue for the vital programs the lotteries support throughout Canada and their respective provinces,” said Sarah Price, Director of National Games, ILC.
“Pollard Banknote is thrilled to have the opportunity to extend our partnership with the ILC. We are excited to continue providing innovative products that stand out at retail and extend the play experience into the digital landscape, with the ultimate goal of maximizing revenue for good causes across Canada,” said Brad Thompson, Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Pollard Banknote.

BCLC Launches the Industry’s First Ticket to Ride Instant Game
Pollard Banknote Limited has congratulated the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) on the launch of Ticket to Ride, the lottery industry’s first-ever instant ticket based on Days of Wonder’s Ticket to Ride, an acclaimed board game in which players compete to claim routes, connect cities, and build the longest rail line. Featuring a top prize of $50,000 and a wild card bonus, BCLC players are on the fast track to experience all the fun of the award-winning board game in an entertaining new way.
As summer travel plans kick into gear, the $3 ticket takes British Columbians on a trip across Canada with colourful, Pollard Banknote-designed artwork that echoes the look and feel of the board game. Leveraging the ever-popular lucky lines play mechanic, players embark on a cross-country adventure to reveal all four numbers within the same-coloured rail line. A wild card bonus provides players with an extra chance to hop aboard for a cash prize. The Ticket to Ride board game rocketed to fame after winning the prestigious Spiel des Jahres prize in 2004 and has sold over 10 million copies in more than 50 countries worldwide.
The inaugural instant ticket launch features an integrated and multi-faceted marketing program supported by Pollard Banknote, which includes an engaging social media campaign and the production of a how-to-play video for BCLC’s website.
“We are delighted to offer British Columbians a brand new way to experience the fun and the spirit of Ticket to Ride this summer. Collaborating with Pollard Banknote has resulted in a great new game that will provide our players with many moments of excitement and adventure, and is a welcome addition to our Scratch & Win portfolio,” Erin Neoh, Senior Product Specialist of Instant Games at BCLC.
“We congratulate BCLC on being the first to market with its exciting new Ticket to Ride Scratch & Win game. Our licensed portfolio features many established game brands, such as Ticket to Ride, which translate seamlessly into engaging instant tickets for all types of players. We’re confident that British Columbians will embrace the thrill of this exciting new game,” Brad Thompson, VP of Sales & Marketing at Pollard Banknote, said.

Pollard Banknote Limited Re-adds Ms.PAC-MAN to its Brand Portfolio
Pollard Banknote Limited has announced that Ms.PAC-MAN, the iconic pop-culture powerhouse, has re-joined its portfolio of licensed properties.
Under license from BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment America Inc., Ms.PAC-MAN fits seamlessly into Pollard Banknote’s Retro Collection – an ever-growing and diversified selection of recognizable retro brands including PAC-MAN, GALAGA, and DIG DUG.
Originally introduced in 1981, Ms.PAC-MAN is credited as the first female arcade game character, and a key driver in the popularity of gaming among women. The game’s simple, yet exciting, play style contributed to the brand’s considerable success, eventually becoming the fourth highest-selling arcade game of all time and placing fifth on Time Magazine’s list of “The 50 Best Video Games of All Time.”
Ms.PAC-MAN has multi-generational appeal, notably among the 22 to 54-year-old demographic, and 90% brand recognition, making an instant ticket featuring Ms.PAC-MAN a perfect fit for any lottery.
“We are thrilled to re-introduce this strong female lead into the lottery market and know that lottery customers will eat up instant tickets featuring Ms.PAC-MAN, like she ate up POWER-PELLETS in the original arcade classic. Lotteries throughout North America have achieved great success when combining Pollard Banknote’s licensed games iconography with our stunning ticket art and entertaining gameplay, and we are certain that the same will be true with instant tickets that feature Ms.PAC-MAN,” Brad Thompson, VP for Sales & Marketing at Pollard Banknote, said.
