Fortnite: Arsenal Superstar Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang And Galaxy Racer Launches First-Ever Cross Regional Esports Tournament

Galaxy Racer, the biggest esports, content and lifestyle organisation, based in the Middle East, North Africa and South-East Asia, is launching an all-new competition, the Galaxy Racer Aubameyang Cup, starting August 1st 2021 which sees Fortnite Duos teams from across the Middle East and Europe collide online for the first time.
Named after Arsenal and Gabon star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and his brother William-Fils â both renowned fans of the popular battle royale game â the Galaxy Racer Aubameyang Cup is the first-ever cross regional online event for Fortnite. The competition will pit 150 teams from the Middle East and Europe against one another over four consecutive days, with one day of qualifying rounds for each region, with the top teams going through to the Grand Finals on August 3rd and 4th.
Where competitive cross region online tournaments have been unheard of due to network latency between servers, the Grand Finals will see the top 24 teams from each region battle it out over 12 games, hosted on âHomeâ and âAwayâ servers that mitigate ping issues to offer a unique and fair competitive platform for players.
Results are based on total points over the 12 games in the Grand Finals, with the top ten teams sharing a âŹ10,000 prize pool. The four-day competition will be streamed live on Galaxy Racersâ Twitch and YouTube channels, with in-stream competitions and giveaways throughout including the official Scuff Aubameyang Controller, with only five controllers and five headsets up for grabs.
Launched in December 2019, Galaxy Racer has quickly become the biggest gaming and content organisation in the MENA region and is expanding across the world with a growing global reach of over 160 million followers and generating over a billion monthly views. The competitive gaming organisation manages innovative new esports tournaments while also featuring its own esports teams, content creators, merchandising and lifestyle brands and even a music label. The organisation carries rosters in all major esports titles, over 60 players from 22 nationalities and 20 of the biggest content creators in the MENA and Asia regions.
Galaxy Racerâs last major tournament, the OCE CUP, boasted the highest independent prize pool ever seen in Australia and broke records for the most watched Fortnite Competitive Event, with over 28,000 peak concurrent views.
The Galaxy Racer Aubameyang Cup aims to not only bring the two regions closer together and provide a platform for up-and-coming Fortnite players, but looks to continue bridging the gap between esports and sports, with Arsenal and Gabon captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and his half-brother William-Fils âWillyâ Aubameyang swapping the football pitch for Pleasant Park. The footballing brothers will make guest appearances throughout the esports tournament, including exclusive interviews and a 2v2 matchup with Galaxy Racerâs own Fortnite pros, Milan “milan” Lopes and Maciej “Teeq” Radzio. Nyle “Nyle” Hasan who is currently ranked the #1 player in MENA will also make an appearance to offer players tips and tricks during the competition.
Paul Roy, CEO of Galaxy Racer, commented: âThe Galaxy Racer Aubameyang Cup will unite professional, amateur players, gaming personalities and athletes, and will be the first event of its kind to bring players from the Middle East and Europe to clash in an online tournament that is highly competitive and fair. Our ambition is to offer up-and-coming professional players a chance to show off their skills, provide opportunities for players to test those skills against players from other regions, and to create an unforgettable event for fans to watch.â
The Middle East qualifiers will be managed by SAQR Scrims, while the European qualifiers and Grand Finals will be managed and produced by esports commentator Monster D Face and his production and tournament administration company Practice Server.

Â
Superbet has become the new main sponsor of Jagiellonia BiaĹystok. The logo of one of Polandâs leading bookmakers will appear on the front of the Podlasie teamâs match jerseys. This is the fourth Ekstraklasa club, alongside Lech PoznaĹ, GĂłrnik Zabrze and GKS Katowice, to join the bookmakerâs extensive sponsorship portfolio.
The new partnership is more than just a logo on a jersey â the collaboration between Jagiellonia and Superbet is intended to have a particularly fan-focused nature. The brand is announcing numerous dedicated campaigns, events and surprises aimed at fans of the yellow and reds. The first of these has already launched with the announcement of the partnership â and will undoubtedly delight anyone planning to purchase the new jersey.
Superbet will pay a 100 PLN bonus towards the purchase of an official Jagiellonia match jersey. A total of 1920 jerseys will be available as part of the promotion â a number symbolically related to the year the club was founded. The promotion is valid both in-store and online and is open to all Superbet app users.
âWhen making a purchase in a stationary store, all you need to do is show the installed application, and for online customers, verification will take place via the email address: [email protected], to which you can simply send a short message, and in response, fans will receive a unique code entitling them to purchase a T-shirt at a discount,â explains Bartosz Malaka, Head of Marketing & Sponsoring at Superbet.
However, this is not the end of surprises for fans of the BiaĹystok club, because if they register using the special code âJAGA,â they will also receive a welcome bonus.
âJagiellonia fits perfectly into our sponsorship strategy â itâs a club with ambition, a strong identity, and enormous potential that combines modernity with local character. Wââre thrilled to be embarking on this journey together. Our logo will now appear on the fronts of the jerseys of four Ekstraklasa clubs, confirming our continued leadership in sports sponsorship,â said Ĺukasz Seweryniak, General Manager of Superbet Polska.
âJaga is the perfect partner for us â with a great history and a huge, loyal community of fans who live and breathe this club every day. With them in mind, weâre preparing a whole package of activations, surprises, and events designed to build even stronger bonds. We want to show that just as Jaga is a super club, Superbet is a super sponsor,â Malaka said.

VGCCC Fines Werribee RSL for Self-exclusion Failures

Â
The Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission (VGCCC) has fined the Werribee RSL $30,000 for failing to prevent 2 self-excluded customers from gambling.
VGCCC CEO Suzy Neilan said: âThis is the first time the VGCCC has taken disciplinary action against a club or hotel for self-exclusion breaches.
âSelf-exclusion programs empower people to manage their gambling by registering to be temporarily or permanently blocked from entering gambling areas of clubs, pubs and casinos.
âBy failing to respect a personâs decision to self-exclude, a venue may put customers who have decided to take a break from gambling, or quit altogether, at risk of experiencing gambling harm.â
In January 2024, the VGCCC received an anonymous tip-off that a self-excluded person entered the Werribee RSL gaming room and used the poker machines. The venue self-reported a second breach in May 2024, after realising a different customer had gambled at the venue on at least 4 occasions between February and May 2024.
Ms Neilan said: âTaking disciplinary action is the last resort. We would prefer venues take their harm minimisation responsibilities seriously by complying with their legal obligations, including through the effective implementation of tools like self-exclusion.
âVenues and their staff are the last line of defence for self-excluded customers, who should be able to trust that their decision to self-exclude will be respected. They must have the appropriate controls in place to prevent self-excluded people from entering gaming rooms.â
The VGCCC acknowledged that Werribee RSL cooperated with the investigations and has since taken steps to strengthen its procedures. These include improved and regular staff training, daily audits of the self-exclusion register and greater use of technology to identify self-excluded customers who attempt to enter the gaming room.
This remedial action was taken into consideration in determining the amount of the fine.
