Superbet Officially Confirms That it Paid 30 Million Euros for a Technical Error

Reading Time: 2 minutes
After the “Fire Blaze Red Wizard” gambling game generated uncontrolled winnings with almost every visit to the Superbet website, the company that is the main sponsor of Romanian football has now made the first clarifications about the case.
Over 7500 Romanians took advantage of the opportunity, and the agency recorded losses of over 30 million euros. Initially, the respective accounts were blocked, but Superbet decided to reverse the decision and honour the payments.
The company claims that the payment made is simply a gesture of business fair play, a demonstration of seriousness in business and the fact that it wants to maintain an immaculate image.
This is given that, most likely, Superbet would have won the lawsuits that the players would have filed against it in court.
In the regulations accepted by customers when they create gaming accounts on the site, an article specifies that those winnings obtained as a result of technical problems will not be paid out. Under these circumstances, Superbet’s decision to forgo a huge amount was astonishing.
If at first there was talk of a bug, now Superbet says it is analyzing the causes that caused the disaster.
Most likely, Superbet will seek compensation from the game provider, Playtech, which would be guilty of making a problematic game available.
Here is the company’s statement:
“Superbet: we do what is right for our customers, regardless of the circumstances.”
Superbet fully honors payments of over 30 million euros, generated by an incident whose causes are currently being analyzed together with our partners.
It is essential to mention that the incident in question has been fully resolved, and the Superbet platform and services remain safe and fully available for our customers to enjoy.
Following preliminary assessments, we identified a series of improperly calculated winnings, which led to the erroneous awarding of higher amounts than those that should have been awarded according to the random components of the game.
In this context, our company remained consistent with its vision of always doing what is right for our customers. Thus, we decided to honor all payments resulting from this situation.
By deciding to honor these payments, we demonstrate the assumption of an organizational culture based on trust in relation to customers and the ability to manage unforeseen situations.
This approach is one of the factors underlying the exponential growth of our company. Thanks to this philosophy, Superbet has managed to constantly innovate and transform itself into one of the most important global sports betting and gaming operators.
We remain steadfast in our commitment to our customers, to provide them with the most engaging, innovative and secure digital entertainment ecosystem in the global industry.”
