Altenar – How will Brazil and Mexico fare in 2024?

The winds of change are sweeping across LatAm, with the creation of a regulatory framework now in motion. Over the coming months, legislators will attempt to build a structure that works for all. Altenar’s Americas Regional Director, Hugo Llanos, offers his expert insights on why Brazil holds the ‘most promise’, and how its more established neighbours have offered valued lessons ahead of what could be the provider’s biggest year to date.

The hottest news for Brazilian operators is the regulation of sports betting being approved in December. You have previously stated Brazil holds ‘the most promise for businesses’ – how does this development drive Altenar forward in its growth for the coming year?

Regulation in Brazil presents a positive opportunity for everyone in the industry, as with regulation comes greater trust from players and hopefully, increased channelisation. They can be confident in the knowledge they are entertaining themselves in a modern, fun and safer environment.

We are opening an office in LatAm looking at improving our business support, with the aim of being closer to our partners in the region.

There are opportunities abound for those willing to grasp them and Brazil’s regulation has given the green light for innovation and creativity. This now means that Altenar can press ahead with its work to develop the best tools and features designed specifically for the Brazilian market.

Mexico is a booming market, with an estimated 40% of Mexicans betting on sports in some form in 2023. What opportunities lie ahead of Altenar’s expansion in the country for the coming year?

Mexico has always been an intriguing sports betting market and for us, it is a close second to Brazil. It is a substantial market with a growing economy, which saw a quarter of bettors wager on sport for the first time in 2022. This, for us, represents huge growth.

In 2024, we expect further opportunities and innovation to fuel our success in Mexico. Brazil is of course the newcomer, but it would be foolish to take our eyes off the ball in other territories, like Mexico, Peru and Chile.

How do you differ your offering in LatAm regions, compared to European territories? What are the key differences in LatAm players’ needs?

The key differences between LatAm and European markets are in the user experience, not the product itself. The way a sports betting website is presented to a customer in LatAm is different to how it would appear to European players due to differences in taste. A player in LatAm may like some promotions over others, for example, or certain sports in Mexico, such as American sports, are more popular than in Europe. It is essential to make the experience intuitive and as seamless as possible for players who are accessing the content from their home countries.

What do you anticipate being Altenar’s legacy in LatAm by this time next year?

We are working hard to ensure we listen and collaborate with our customers, and to engage in discussions to make sure the product we offer meets their needs. We listen, help formulate their ideas and then help them achieve their objectives. For us, it is about making that distinction between partner and provider – we will never just offer a product without supporting customers to get the most out of it. By this time next year, I hope we will see the market in Brazil live, with a robust regulatory framework, and a number of additional partnerships.

Leading sportsbook provider Altenar will attend iGB L!VE London 2026 to meet with industry stakeholders and discuss the challenges and opportunities shaping one of the world’s most mature and competitive regulated gambling jurisdictions.

According to the latest data published by the UK Gambling Commission, online real-event betting generated £530 million in Gross Gambling Yield (GGY) during Q4 2025, underlining the scale of the UK’s regulated sports betting sector and the ongoing demand for high-performance sportsbook products.

Against this backdrop, operators are under increasing pressure to differentiate their offering, maximise player lifetime value, and remain fully compliant with evolving regulatory requirements.

Altenar’s sportsbook is designed to address these challenges through flexible technology, advanced trading capabilities, localisation tools, and a comprehensive suite of engagement and retention features.

The platform enables operators to launch and scale efficiently while delivering tailored betting experiences that resonate with UK audiences.

Giannis Papakonstantinou, Account Management Director at Altenar, said:

“The challenge in the UK is no longer simply entering the market. Operators need to acquire players efficiently, retain them for longer, and remain fully compliant in an increasingly demanding regulatory environment. Our role is to provide the technology, flexibility, and operational expertise that help partners achieve exactly that.

“Every operator faces different challenges, whether that’s managing multiple brands, improving sportsbook engagement, or creating stronger connections between casino and sports betting. At Altenar, we work closely with our partners to deliver solutions that support sustainable growth and long-term success.”

Altenar recently published a case study with L&L Europe, a UK-focused multi-brand operator, demonstrating how a scalable sportsbook strategy helped support rapid growth across its portfolio.

Altenar’s sales, account management, and senior leadership teams will be available at the expo. Attendees are invited to book a meeting with the Altenar team and visit stand P65 to discuss how operators can strengthen their position in today’s highly competitive UK market.

Logrand partners with Altenar to launch enhanced omni-channel sportsbook experience

Altenar, a leading sportsbook provider, has partnered with Logrand Entertainment Group, one of Mexico’s most established and respected casino operators, to deliver its complete sportsbook solution across the operator’s online and retail channels.

Through the agreement, Altenar will deliver a fully-integrated sportsbook experience designed specifically for omni-channel operations. The solution will be deployed across Logrand’s digital brands, jubilee.mx and vivento.mx, while also being integrated directly into the retail environments of its casino venues in cooperation with Calimaco’s platform.

The partnership will enable Logrand to offer a seamless and consistent betting experience wherever players choose to engage.

Recognised for delivering premium entertainment experiences across both land-based and digital channels, Logrand continues to strengthen its position in Mexico’s competitive gaming landscape through strategic technology partnerships and a customer-first approach.

Altenar’s flexible and scalable sportsbook technology will support Logrand’s ambitions with advanced trading capabilities, localisation features, and a platform built to meet the evolving expectations of sports bettors in the Mexican market.

Diego Salas, Sales Director at Altenar, said:

“We are delighted to partner with Logrand. This agreement reflects Altenar’s commitment to delivering market-leading sportsbook technology tailored to local player expectations and operational requirements.

“By bringing our complete omni-channel sportsbook solution to both online and retail environments, we look forward to helping Logrand create an engaging sports betting experience and supporting its continued growth in Mexico.”

Eduardo Peláez, Online Operations Director at Logrand Entertainment Group, added:

“Our players don’t separate ‘retail’ from ‘digital’ the way the industry does — they expect their casino and their sportsbook to recognise them, follow them, and behave the same way regardless of where they are sitting. This partnership with Altenar is how we deliver on that expectation. One sportsbook, one player view, one product running across jubilee.mx, vivento.mx, and our retail venues through Calimaco’s integration.

Choosing Altenar was a long-term decision. We needed a partner with the localisation depth and the technical reach to support Logrand at the scale we are planning for the next phase of growth in Mexico.”

Gerardo González, Sportsbook Manager at Logrand Entertainment Group, added:

“We chose Altenar because we know the local market and we know what our players need. We weren’t just looking for another supplier – we were looking for the right one. With jubilee.mx and vivento.mx, Logrand is stepping up to compete head-on in the Mexican sports betting market, and we are doing it with the right platform to win.”

The partnership further reinforces Altenar’s growing footprint across Latin America and highlights the provider’s ability to deliver adaptable, high-performance sportsbook solutions that help operators expand across both digital and retail channels.
