African Gambling Market
SOFTSWISS Powers New South African Challenger PantherBet as Market Hits €75bn
Editor’s Take
Why this matters: South Africa is rapidly becoming the crown jewel of African iGaming. With the National Gambling Board reporting a massive surge in turnover to over €75 billion, the market is moving past its “emerging” phase into a highly competitive, high-volume jurisdiction. For SOFTSWISS, empowering a new entrant like PantherBet isn’t just about adding a logo to the client sheet; it’s a strategic proof-point that their localized tech stack can handle the specific demands (data lightness, mobile-first UX) of Southern Africa’s premium segment.
The Full Story
SOFTSWISS, the global tech leader in iGaming solutions, has confirmed a major new partnership in the African market, announcing that it is now powering PantherBet, a newly launched operator in South Africa.
The deal sees PantherBet utilizing the award-winning SOFTSWISS Sportsbook and Casino Platform as its technological backbone, marking another milestone in the supplier’s expansion across regulated African jurisdictions.
A Market on the Rise The partnership comes at a critical time for the region. Recent figures from South Africa’s National Gambling Board (NGB) revealed that the country recorded a gambling turnover of EUR 75.47 billion (R1.5 trillion) during the 2024/25 financial year—a significant leap from the EUR 55.3 billion recorded the previous year.
Against this backdrop of explosive growth, PantherBet launched in September with a strategy focused on “premium” entertainment. Unlike many data-light, simplified betting sites in the region, PantherBet is positioning itself with a focus on modern design and intuitive user experience (UX), aiming to build long-term trust with a maturing player base.
Management Commentary Miranda Guliashvili, Head of Regional Growth at SOFTSWISS, noted that the operator’s vision aligns with the supplier’s capabilities:
“Partnering with operators who share our dedication to responsibility and high-quality entertainment is central to our strategy. PantherBet entered the market with a clear vision and a focus on quality, performance, and local relevance… we see enormous potential in PantherBet as they continue developing their presence in the region.”
Andrey Rozhkov, CEO at PantherBet, emphasized the importance of stability and compliance in their choice of partner:
“Our purpose as a company is to provide responsible, safe, and accessible entertainment while becoming one of the most innovative, reputable, and trusted leaders in our industry. Partnering with SOFTSWISS supports that purpose. The company’s global reputation, compliance expertise, and proven ability to empower premium brands give us the foundation to grow with confidence.”
Strategic Context SOFTSWISS has been heavily investing in its South African intelligence, recently releasing market reports including the South Africa: iGaming Market Overview 2025. This partnership serves as a practical application of those insights, deploying a tech stack already battle-tested in LatAm and Europe to meet specific local demands.
