Anticipating the future is no longer a fictional exercise but a competitive advantage. With the launch of the study “Gate to 2050” about the future of iGaming, Oddsgate takes a decisive step toward a new level of strategic intelligence, reaffirming its role as a reference in innovation, trend analysis, and future scenario building for the industry.

Oddsgate selected the independent consultancy ALVA Research & Consulting for its expertise, which led to the development of this unprecedented study. ALVA is recognized for its work with organizations and leaders in building future scenarios and anticipating long-term transformations. It conducted an in-depth investigation structured to go beyond conventional forecasts.

The research began in the summer of 2024 and took shape during the SBC Summit Lisbon, where it was officially presented to the market in its initial phase. The process extended over several months, combining rigorous analysis, multiple methodologies, and contributions from specialists across different regions and sectors.

The result is more than just a report. It is a strategic overview of the possible developments in the iGaming industry — including online betting, digital casinos, and gambling — over the next 25 years, offering analytical depth and provoking reflection on the sector’s future on a global scale.

A global and collaborative vision

The content results from a multifaceted methodology, including document analysis, desk research, 200 surveys conducted during SBC Lisbon, and interviews with 20 specialists in various sectors and regions worldwide. With voices from every continent, the study was designed to be truly global and cross-sectoral.

In addition, 21 transactional variables were analyzed, linking iGaming to transformations affecting other industries, ranging from geopolitical and technological changes to social, economic, and environmental factors. This was done with the goal of identifying the main drivers of change and creating a consistent and thought-provoking image of the future.

The study’s approach follows three key steps: collecting signals and directions from the world, projecting a probable image for iGaming in 2050, and sharing this vision to inspire long-term decision-making and direction.

By diving into the megatrends that will shape the world in the coming decades, the report presents topics such as:

The role of artificial intelligence, blockchain, and extended reality (AR, VR, metaverse);

The growing personalization of platforms and use of predictive CRM;

The centrality of digital payments and cryptocurrencies;

The advancement of digital security and data protection;

The urgency of sustainability and social responsibility in gaming.

These elements, combined with a forward-looking perspective, make this content essential for operators, regulators, and stakeholders who want to confidently navigate the sector’s future.

A milestone for the industry

The study was presented for the first time during SBC Summit Rio in February 2025, where Oddsgate’s CMO, Wagner Fernandes, shared the project’s main takeaways.

He said, “This study is not limited to predicting the future of iGaming. It also serves as an invitation for reflection and action. We are entering a new era in which technology and responsibility intertwine to create safer and more innovative experiences. This material guides those who want to lead this transformation.”.

By turning knowledge into concrete direction and trends into actionable paths, Oddsgate consolidates its position as a reference in market intelligence for iGaming. It fosters meaningful connections among the industry’s key players and contributes to collective progress toward a more prepared and innovative sector.

The future has already begun and is available on the Oddsgate website, which invites the entire industry to look ahead with greater clarity, foresight, and ambition.

The General Directorate for the Regulation of Gambling (DGOJ), which reports to the Ministry of Social Rights, Consumption and the 2030 Agenda, held the constituent meeting of the recently renewed Responsible Gambling Advisory Council.

This renewal follows the expiration of the previous council’s term last May. The meeting was chaired by the Director General of Gaming Regulation, Mikel Arana, in his capacity as president of the Council.

Presentation of the Safe Gaming Programme 2026-2030

In addition to the constitutive session of the new composition, the meeting focused on the presentation, by the General Directorate of Gaming, of the proposal for the Safe Gaming Programme 2026-2030, a strategic document that establishes the lines of work for the next four years.

This document reflects three priorities: analysis and diagnosis of the current situation, prevention and promotion of safe gaming and participant protection.

The programme also includes six general objectives and 22 specific measures, which aim to promote new lines of work in collaboration with the Advisory Council.

The new Council members will have three months to provide input on the draft programme proposal submitted, with the goal of reaching a consensus and approving a final document to guide public policy on safe gaming at the next Advisory Council meeting.

BGC Welcomes Government Investment in Grassroot Sports

STANDARDS body the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) has welcomed the UK Government’s recent announcements to spend £400m boosting grassroots sport and its new Modern Industrial Strategy.

The investment in grassroots sport is part of a wider £900m package of “transformational” cash backing which will also create a pipeline of major sporting events in the UK, including Euro 28, the 2026 European Athletics Championships and start stages of the men’s and women’s Tour de France in 2027.

BGC members are already major contributors to grassroots sport, through Entain’s Pitching In and Flutter’s Cash for Clubs, plus sponsorship deals which support sports including horse racing, darts, rugby league and snooker.

BGC CEO Grainne Hurst said: “As long-time committed supporters of grassroots sports through investment, charity partnerships and sponsorship deals, we are delighted to see the Government commit more cash to unite communities and inspire people to take up sport.

“We absolutely agree with DCMS Secretary of State Lisa Nandy, sport tells our national story in a way like no other, and thanks to this funding alongside the money invested by BGC members, we are creating and improving new ways for tomorrow’s sporting heroes to train and take part in sport.”

Pitching In is an Entain initiative to support and develop grassroots sport in the UK, helping non-league clubs improve their facilities and providing a platform for aspiring athletes to chase their dreams.

The multi-million-pound, multi-year investment programme is working with Isthmian, Northern Premier and Southern League clubs, known as the Trident Leagues, to champion their achievements and tell their stories.

Meanwhile Flutter’s Cash4Clubs, has donated £6.5m since 2008 in small grants to grassroots sports and community clubs across Ireland and the UK, particularly in areas of need.

More widely, BGC members are huge financial supporters of sport. According to a report by EY commissioned by the BGC, horseracing benefits to the tune of £350m annually, while the English Football League and its clubs receive £40m, and snooker, darts and rugby league receive more than £12.5m.

Meanwhile, in a separate announcement the Government launched its new Modern Industrial Strategy, which included a commitment to an internationally competitive tax regime to promote the UK as a prime destination for business and growth, plus a renewed focus on the creative industries.

The BGC has repeatedly urged the Government not to raise taxes on betting and gaming amid a new online tax consultation.

BGC CEO Grainne Hurst said: “We welcome this boost for creative industries, but the BGC would have welcomed more focus on the leisure and tourism sector. The land-based betting and gaming sector, including our world leading casinos, are a pillar of the UK economy, and are generating growth across the nation’s towns and cities. They deserve continued Government support,” she added.

“We also welcome the Government’s commitments to a tax regime that supports its growth ambitions. We have been clear, any tax rises on our sector will not boost growth, but will force people to the growing unsafe gambling black market.”
