Clarion Gaming to show historic Columbia 1-cent slot machine at G2E Las Vegas
Clarion Gaming has enlisted the help of The Mob Museum to promote its presence on stand number 5538 at G2E Las Vegas. The organisers of the world famous ICE London gaming expo (7th – 9th February, ExCeL London) have secured the loan of a Columbia 1-cent slot machine which dates back to the mid 1930’s and is part of the extensive collection of exhibits and artefacts that are on show at the Museum.
G2E visitors will be able to view the historic slot which was produced by the Groetchen Tool & Mfg. Co. of Chicago and which displays images of fruit, bells and bars that reads ‘Columbia.’ The visible jackpot bank displayed pennies previously paid into the machine.
Clarion Gaming, Managing Director Stuart Hunter said the appearance of a piece of gambling industry history will provide a platform to discuss future initiatives impacting ICE. He said: “We are coming to G2E to meet with the industry and our many friends in north America in order to explain the exciting plans that we have for the development of the ICE show in London.
“I’m delighted to confirm that 2023 will represent the first full scale edition of ICE since 2020. All of the major suppliers and innovators are returning after a Covid-enforced absence and such is the demand for space that the 2023 event is on course to be the biggest on record – which represents great news for all sections of the global industry.
“We hope visitors will come on to the stand to see a piece of history and leave excited by our plans for the future.”
The Clarion Gaming team will also be hosting over 200 gaming industry professionals who have accepted an invitation to participate in the ICE London 2023 Ampersand event which is taking place on October 10th at Top Golf Las Vegas. Insights arising from the ‘Open Space’ style gathering will be fed into the ICE development programme helping to ensure that the show remains totally relevant to the needs of what is one of the economy’s fastest-moving and most dynamic sectors.

Court Decision Upholds iGaming Ontario’s Model
iGaming Ontario has welcomed the decision of the Ontario Superior Court, which found that iGaming Ontario’s model is consistent with the Criminal Code and that iGaming Ontario is conducting and managing igaming in the province.
“We have always been confident in our model and are pleased that the court has ruled in our favour, and that Ontarians can continue to play with confidence in our regulated igaming market,” said Martha Otton, Executive Director of iGaming Ontario.
“Ontario’s model meets the requirements and contributes to the public good by protecting players, their data and their funds, while helping to fund priority public services in Ontario, and bringing well-paid, high-tech jobs and economic development to Ontario,” Otton added.
In dismissing the application brought forward by the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK), the Superior Court found that iGaming Ontario is the “operating mind” behind Ontario’s competitive igaming market in accordance with the conduct and manage requirements of the Criminal Code.
iGaming Ontario will continue to conduct and manage igaming as it has since the launch of the regulated market on April 4, 2022.
