Overwolf Launches New CurseForge App Ahead of WoW Shadowlands Expansion

Overwolf, the all-in-one platform that enables creators to build, distribute, and monetize in-game apps and mods, today announced the launch of the beta version of the new CurseForge app. The app will replace the mod tab in the Twitch client and help gamers and mod authors to manage mods and addons for supported games, beginning with World of Warcraft. Overwolf announced in June its plans to acquire CurseForge from Twitch to empower mod authors to not only create better experiences for gamers, but also make a living from their passion. The new dedicated app, built on the Overwolf framework, is launching ahead of WoW Shadowlands expansion to allow gamers to download the latest addons prior to the highly anticipated release.

Designed as a dedicated app for PC and Mac, the new CurseForge app will initially offer similar functionality to the “mods” section inside the Twitch client which includes discovering, downloading, and managing mods and addons. Since the announcement of the impending acquisition of CurseForge, Overwolf has collaborated with top in-game creators and gaming communities to identify how to improve CurseForge. The community’s feedback and most requested features were then used to lay out CurseForge’s development roadmap, available here. Improvements including sidebar navigation between games and better search functionality are already introduced in the launch version, with additional features coming during the next few months.

“We’re building our roadmap by listening to community suggestions on which features the players and mod authors would like to see in the new home for CurseForge. Essentially, we are giving the community the keys to shape the future of CurseForge,” said Uri Marchand, Overwolf CEO and Co-Founder. “Overwolf is focused on empowering mod authors with tools and services to build, share and monetize their amazing gaming creations with gamers. As part of our mission to put in-game creators first, we are fully committed to paying CurseForge mod authors 50% more by 2022, compared to what they’re making today.”

Overwolf has reached out to the addon community to ask for feedback and ideas for potential new features to ensure that the development of the CurseForge platform benefits everyone including addon authors, but also the players. A lot of changes have been made based on feedback and suggestions to improve the overall experience of the platform, and I am really excited to see what’s in store for CurseForge in the coming months,” said Nnoggie, creator of Mythic Dungeon Tools, a leading World of Warcraft addons with over 10,000,000 downloads.

Support for Minecraft and additional games are also scheduled to arrive on November 17, 2020. Beginning November 30, gamers will no longer be able to use the Twitch client for mod management. All exploration, updating, and downloading of mods and addons will be done through the new CurseForge app and website.

A 39-year-old South African expat, Branden Tekram, has won AED 5 million in The UAE Lottery’s Lucky Day draw, according to the operator. The company said the win marks “the first time the second prize has been won on a Wednesday draw since its recent introduction.”

Tekram said he discovered the result while checking email. “It’s still overwhelming and unbelievable. I don’t know how to explain it. I mean, I’m a millionaire in Dubai,” he said. He added that he told his wife at home and they “sat there in disbelief.”

The winner said the family plans to take a staged approach to using the money, including funding a prototype linked to a patent application his wife is working on, and potentially moving into a villa. He also said the win could help them access additional support for their son.

The operator said it has awarded more than AED 300 million in prizes to more than 340,000 winners across its portfolio, including Lucky Day, Scratch Cards, and E-Instants. Lucky Day draws run every Wednesday and Saturday, with prizes including the AED 30 million grand prize and AED 5 million second prize. The company said all games are regulated by the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA).

Spinomenal has released The Desperado Drifter Hold & Hit 3×3, the latest addition to its Hold & Hit portfolio.

The Western-themed slot uses a 3×3 bonus grid and features a Wild symbol (a bag of gems) that substitutes for all symbols except Bonus and Bonus Collect. Bonus coins land on reels one and three, while the Bonus Collect coin lands on reel two.

When Bonus Collect lands alongside one or more Bonus symbols, the game triggers an Instant Win Feature that collects the values and adds them directly to the player’s balance. The same symbol combination also starts the Bonus Game, with triggering symbols locked in place and three spins awarded initially.

During the Bonus Game, only Bonus and Bonus Collect symbols can appear. Kwiff has appointed RavenTrack as its primary affiliate tracking provider, as the sports betting operator looks to strengthen oversight and reporting across its affiliate channel.

The companies said the partnership will see Kwiff integrate RavenTrack’s platform-as-a-service tracking technology to support “greater transparency, accuracy, and efficiency” for its affiliate programme.
