NCPG, EPIC Risk Management, Join Forces to Tackle Problem Gambling

Published

on

EPIC Risk Management, the world’s leading independent gambling harm minimization consultancy, has further strengthened its commitment to supporting a responsible and sustainable US gambling industry by becoming members of the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG).

Now EPIC and the National Council on Problem Gambling, the national advocate for programs and services to assist people and families affected by problem gambling, have today announced a collaborative effort to work cooperatively on initiatives of advocacy, training and education while shiring expertise and experience from across the globe.

EPIC will share learnings and insights of working with over 125,000 individuals and organizations over the last six years across some of the highest risk, hardest to reach sectors including professional sports, the gambling industry, financial services, the education sector and the armed forces.

“We are so pleased to welcome EPIC as a member of NCPG. They provide best-in-class programs and training in the UK and across Europe and we are eager to learn from their experience and share our insights into the unique US gambling market and healthcare system,” said Keith Whyte, Executive Director of NCPG.

“Gambling is growing fast in the U.S. across a number of states. For the majority, gambling will remain an enjoyable form of entertainment; but for a small but significant percentage, it will lead to problems that can be catastrophic for the individual, their families and for organizations. I am delighted to announce our collaboration with the National Council on Problem Gambling that will ensure that less people reach the edge of the cliff with gambling problems and, those that do, have a  fit for purpose and coordinated pathway of support,” said Paul Buck, CEO of EPIC Risk Management.

Last month it was announced that EPIC is collaborating with GVC Holdings, one of the world’s largest sports-betting and gaming groups and a fellow member of the NCPG, to reduce gambling related harm throughout the U.S.

GVC Foundation US, GVC’s unique non-profit subsidiary which is dedicated to promoting safer gambling, is providing $2.5 million in funding to the partnership which aims to educate professional and student athletes, coaches, and staff across the U.S.

It is estimated that 7 million U.S. adults suffer from gambling problems, and with the gambling landscape and nascent sports betting environment in America evolving rapidly, NCPG and EPIC Risk Management are at the forefront of minimizing gambling related harm with essential services.
