Racing Post has announced the signing of an exciting partnership with four-time champion jockey Richard Johnson. The sponsorship will see Johnson as a regular fixture in the paper and online with columns every Saturday and every day of the 2020 Cheltenham and Aintree Festivals. He will also play an valuable part in representing the Racing Post as an ambassador for the all-important subject of jockey welfare.

Johnson is set to return to racing on Thursday at Musselburgh after suffering a nasty fall and breaking his arm just over a month ago. His imminent return to action is not only a timely boost for the jockey before the Cheltenham Festival, but also reignites the title race between himself and Brian Hughes.

Speaking about the partnership, Johnson said: “I’m delighted the Racing Post has come on board and is going to sponsor me, so you will see Racing Post on my leg from the end of this week.

“There will hopefully be plenty of times that I’m in the studio doing shows and I’ll be writing for the paper as well, so hopefully there’s lots to look forward to. This is the main racing paper, so it’s great to be attached and to work with the Racing Post.”

The champion jockey will be working closely with the Racing Post on multiple content and interview features. Johnson will be a regular guest on the new weekly Friday show What A Shout starting this Friday, 28th February. He will offer the audience invaluable insight into his speedy recovery and how he plans to reclaim top spot in the jockeys’ championship.

Louise Agran, Chief Marketing Officer at the Racing Post, commented: “Richard is one of the most successful jockeys around and he is a role model to many in the industry so we are delighted to have him on board. I am thrilled that he has chosen to partner with the Racing Post and we look forward to working together on some exciting projects ahead.”
