FanDuel Launches “Trusted Voices: Conversations About Betting” Focused on Helping Parents and Families Discuss Gambling
September marks Responsible Gaming Education Month, and FanDuel, the premier online gaming company in North America, announced a new partnership with former NBA player and basketball coach Randy Livingston and his wife, sports agent Anita Smith, to launch “Trusted Voices: Conversations About Betting”. This new program and resource hub is designed to equip trusted adults, including parents, guardians, and coaches, with tools and resources to talk to young people about gambling, associated risks, how to recognize warning signs, and where to go for support.
In the “Trusted Voices: Conversations About Betting” video series, Livingston and Smith detail Livingston’s incredible journey as a five-star prep phenom who went on to play several years in the NBA while also struggling with problem gambling. Livingston shares the story of his initial exposure to gambling, his rock-bottom moment and his journey to recovery with the help of his wife, Smith.
Livingston and Smith hope that their family’s story will help others going through similar experiences, and they have created educational resources for individuals to learn more about the risks of gambling, warning signs to look out for and how to begin gambling-related family conversations. The content emphasizes the importance of modeling responsibility for adults who choose to bet. They also take time to break down what proxy betting is and the importance of not allowing those under-21 access to sports betting platforms. Trusted Voices program content was created in consultation with EPIC Global Solutions, an organization that provides gambling harm prevention solutions. The program and its accompanying resources are available at ConversationsAboutBetting.com, which will continue to be updated with additional content in the coming months.
“As legal sports betting continues to become more accessible, I knew I wanted to use my experience to help families engage in proactive and informed conversations about gambling. It became apparent to me and Anita that FanDuel shares our goal of helping parents navigate these tough, but important conversations,” said Livingston.

Mohegan Sun, in partnership with FanDuel, launched its all-new sports betting podcast, Sportsbook Live from Mohegan Sun. The first episode aired live from Mohegan Sun FanDuel Sportsbook on Thursday, Sept. 5, coinciding with the 2024/2025 pro football season kickoff. Hosted by Mike “Mut” Mutnansky and Eytan Shander, the podcast will air every Thursday at 6:00 p.m. through Nov. 7. Mohegan Sun FanDuel Sportsbook’s General Manager, Brad Bryant, will be featured on the podcast weekly, adding further game analysis, expert picks and general sports talk in addition to detailing special events coming up in the Sportsbook!

The 11,000-square-foot Mohegan Sun FanDuel Sportsbook opened in the winter of 2022 and has always been a hub of sports excitement. Brad Bryant became a regular on Mut Mutnansky’s weekly Boston sports radio show, providing picks, banter and betting advice on the weekend’s biggest games across college and pro football. Reunited with Mut and joined by Philadelphia sports media veteran Eytan Shander, Bryant continues to deliver in-depth analysis and predictions for the weekend’s biggest games across college and pro football.
On the premier episode aired on Thursday evening, the trio of Mutnansky, Shander and Bryant discussed the big games taking place across the football weekend into the Monday night pro-football game.

With a 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. live schedule through Nov. 7, the live podcast leads into the big pro football games each Thursday night, viewable on the largest continuous video wall on the East Coast inside the Mohegan Sun FanDuel Sportsbook. The sportsbook also features 225+ seats, a mezzanine level with a private bar, a Race Book, 33 betting kiosks available 24/7, six cashier windows, a winning dining menu and much more.
Accel Entertainment Inc. and Fairmount Holdings Inc. announced that the companies have entered into an agreement for Accel to acquire Fairmount, the owner of FanDuel Sportsbook & Horse Racing, for total consideration of approximately $35 million (based on a 20-day trailing average), payable to the sellers as 3.45 million shares of Accel Class A-1 common stock. The strategic transaction adds a promising single-site racetrack and future casino to extend Accel’s convenience gaming expertise to a larger and more concentrated venue – an adjacency in Local Gaming that is complementary to Accel’s steadily growing, route-based footprint.
During the year ended December 31, 2023, Fairmount generated $29 million of revenue and modest Adjusted EBITDA. Accel plans to invest $85-$95 million (over and above the purchase price) to fund temporary and then permanent casino construction and modest track investments. Accel’s five-year forecast suggests an Adjusted EBITDA potential of $20 to $25 million and over 75% free cash flow conversion – pointing to a compelling cash flow return on capital. The asset will be the cornerstone in a local gaming platform that builds on Accel’s capabilities and strengths as a leading route-based operator.

The Office of Lottery and Gaming (OLG) has announced that FanDuel’s sports betting app and website has officially launched. This development will introduce FanDuel’s sports wagering platform to District residents and visitors, completely replacing the current GambetDC sports betting app and website.
“With FanDuel’s launch, D.C. residents and visitors will have access to a best-in-class sports wagering platform. FanDuel’s entry into our market brings not only a reliable, customer-friendly sports wagering experience to the nation’s capital, but it also includes guaranteed revenue that will be used to fund vital city programs,” Frank Suarez, Executive Director of OLG, said.
FanDuel’s sports wagering platform will be available to all users over the age of 18 within the geographic boundaries of the District of Columbia, except for specific areas where gambling is prohibited. These restricted areas include a two-block radius surrounding designated Class A facilities (Audi Field, Capital One Arena, Nationals Park, and St. Elizabeths East Entertainment and Sports Arena) and all federal lands, including the National Mall, White House, Capitol, Congressional office buildings, East Potomac Park, and Rock Creek Park.
