BGC to Sponsor Leicester Racecourse Veterans’ Day 2024
The Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) has confirmed that it will sponsor the upcoming Leicester Racecourse Veterans’ Day, which raises vital funds for a host of military charities.
The third Leicester Racecourse Veterans’ Day will be held on March 8 next year. Each race on the day is sponsored by a partner who makes a contribution to a military charity with a connection to Leicester.
Invitations are extended to veterans, who will be featured as honoured guests at the event.
Over the past years, BGC members have collectively donated nearly £750,000 ($931,747) to armed forces charities.
The beneficiaries of these contributions include The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity, SAS Regimental Association, ABF The Soldiers’ Charity and the RAF Benevolent Fund.
These donations are typically made following events like the Britannia Stakes race at Royal Ascot, with BGC members either donating their profits or making direct contributions.
Betting and Gaming Council CEO Michael Dugher said: “We are proud to confirm our support for this wonderful event once again. Raising money for military charities is in the BGC’s DNA, we have done it from Day One, and I’m delighted we can confirm that support will continue next year. Veterans’ Day at Leicester Racecourse is a fantastic event for ex-service personnel and raises significant funds for a host of worthy charities. It is an honour to back this fantastic event which does so much good for our veteran community.”
The BGC’s support for this cause aligns with its broader contributions to British horse racing. BGC members collectively contributed £455m to British horse racing in 2022.
According to the BGC, the standards body represents over 90% of the UK’s regulated betting and gaming industry, while BGC members are reported to have supported 110,000 jobs and contributed £7.1bn to the national economy.

Harness the Powers of Poseidon in Stakelogic’s Exciting New Trident of Legends Slot
Dive deep into mysterious waters and summon big wins in Stakelogic’s thrilling new title
Explore a prosperous underwater world and harness the power of the formidable Greek God of the Sea Poseidon in Stakelogic’s latest release, Trident of Legends.
This enchanting aquatic adventure invites players to tap into the awe-inspiring power of the mythical Poseidon as they embark on a quest for fortune. With Poseidon’s legendary Trident in hand, players can trigger enticing bonuses while playing for wins of up to 10,000x their stake.
As you journey through the game, the action unfolds across reels that have Dynamic lengths. The reels shift and morph with every spin, adding an exciting layer of unpredictability to the game. Wins are formed using the Scatter Pay mechanic, with each win triggering cascades, creating opportunities for additional wins on each spin.
Multiplier symbols can land on any spin, and their value ranges from 2x to 1,000x. Multipliers can combine, offering mouth-watering winning prospects with grand total Multiplier values.
Keep alert for Posiedon, who makes his presence felt on the reels as a bonus symbol. The Free Spins bonus is triggered when four or more of these bonus symbols hit anywhere on the grid. During the round, Multiplier symbols are collected progressively and multiply the total win.
Poseidon would be nothing without his all-powerful Trident, which appears as a special symbol in the game. Each time a Trident Symbol appears, it wields the power to transform selected symbols depending on its level, paving the way for some of the biggest wins in the game.
As a Stakelogic slot, the game comes equipped with the Super Stake feature, allowing players to play with a bigger stake for an increased chance to trigger the bonus rounds. They can also skip the queue and buy their way into the bonus rounds for 100x their bet.
James Jelliffe, Head of Game Design at Stakelogic, said: “Poseidon, like many of the Greek Gods, has a special place in the heart of slot players, and with Trident of Legends, we have put an innovative new spin on the all-powerful God.
Players have certain expectations when they play a Greek-themed slot, and we want to blow those expectations out of the water. With Trident of Legends, we have combined a familiar theme with innovative gameplay mechanics and creative features to offer a Poseidon-themed slice of action unlike anything else on the market.”

ICONIC21 and Sweepium strengthen sweeps partnership
In-demand live casino provider deepens sweepstakes market reach through multi-brand launch with leading platform provider and content aggregator
ICONIC21, the provider of premium live casino content, has strengthened its position in the fast-growing sweepstakes space by enhancing its partnership with leading B2B platform provider and content aggregator, Sweepium.
ICONIC21 and Sweepium first joined forces back in October with its content going live with a small number of its brands in the US market. The deal has been extended so that even more of Sweepium’s US operator partners can access its sweepstakes-ready live casino products.
The partnership cements ICONIC21’s position as the preferred provider for sweepstakes brands and builds on its market-leading position in the real-money sector. Both markets are riding a steep upward growth trajectory right now but with sweepstakes really taking the industry by storm.
ICONIC21 is in the driving seat to capitalise on this growth through partnerships such as this with Sweepium. Its live content, which covers a wide range of formats including Roulette, Blackjack, Baccarat, Sic Bo, The Kickoff and Crash Live, has been developed for both real money and sweeps play.
The provider is an innovator, bringing new player experiences to market such as its Gravity Series and Grand Bonus Baccarat. Crash Live is also the first live crash game to feature a host, bringing never-seen-before interaction and entertainment to the experience.
Content is streamed out of modern studios with sleek backdrops where the latest video, audio and broadcast technologies are used to provide a premium product and player experience at all times.
Alina Mihaela Popa, Chief Commercial Officer at ICONIC21, said: “Sweepstakes are sweeping across the US market and beyond and operators want to offer their players the best content in the business.
“This extended deal with Sweepium does just that with its partners able to access our full portfolio of premium, sweepstakes-ready live content – content that has proven to hit the market with players across the globe.
“This is a fast-growing part of the industry and at ICONIC21, we believe we are in a position to capitalise on this by helping operators deliver the experiences players are seeking.”
Daniel Mitton, Co-founder and Chief Business Development Officer at Sweepium, added: “The rise of sweepstakes casinos has been nothing short of meteoric and at Sweepium, we are committed to offering the platform and content portfolio to our partners.
“Live content is hugely popular at sweepstakes casinos and in ICONIC21, we have a partner that knows how to produce content and experiences that exceed player expectations. We’ve already seen how well its content performs and now look forward to seeing it launch with more of our partners.”

KSA Partners with UK’s Gamban to Offer Gambling Blocking Software
Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), the Gambling Authority of the Netherlands, has agreed to fund a pilot project to make Gamban’s blocking software available to players in the Netherlands.
Anyone in the Netherlands can obtain a free one-year Gamban subscription by contacting Loket Kansspel, the country’s national gambling support service.
Users will then gain access to the recently released Dutch version of the app, which blocks access to all online gambling websites and apps across all their devices.
Gamban will also assist the Dutch regulator in detecting unregulated gambling sites as part of the KSA’s renewed efforts to clamp down on the black market.
“At present, KSA offers players struggling with their gambling behaviour the option to self-exclude through Cruks. However, Cruks pertains only to operators holding a licence in the Netherlands. Gamban gives players the opportunity to also block access to illegal gambling websites,” said Thomas Borghois, the KSA’s addiction prevention fund advisor.
“When used together, Cruks and Gamban provide players a perspective on recovery. Teaming up with Loket Kansspel for the distribution of Gamban subscriptions was a logical choice for us, given that they are the first point of contact for players looking for an independent, judgement-free talk about the gambling issues facing them.”
Nathalie Smit, director at Loket Kansspel, commented: “At Loket Kansspel, we believe that taking control of your online environment is crucial for breaking free from gambling addiction. By partnering with Gamban, we’re empowering individuals to stay in control and manage their gambling behaviour. We are excited to provide people with free access to gambling blocking software.”
Matt Zarb-Cousin, co-founder of Gamban, added: “Having a self-exclusion scheme in place can lead to the unintended consequence of leaving the most vulnerable individuals exposed to black market operators. Layering up blocking software with self-exclusion ensures that devices are unable to access gambling sites and apps, whether regulated or unregulated.
“We always recommend using other barriers in addition to gambling-blocking software, such as self-exclusion. The friction these offer give the individual a chance to think between urge and action.
“During this time, they can ride out their urge or think again before acting on temptation. In a world where the lure of immediate gratification through digital activity is increasingly tempting, we want to help people regain control and balance – and by using Gamban, they can do that.”
