AGLC Expanding Access to Self-exclusion Sign-ups
Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis (AGLC) is improving access to its Self-Exclusion Program. As of January 10, patrons who wish to enroll or renew their agreements within AGLC’s Self-Exclusion Program can do so through a virtual process instead of the previous requirement of going through an in-venue gaming facility or AGLC office.
AGLC’s Self-Exclusion Program can be an important first step in helping people gain control of their gambling behaviors. Players can exclude themselves from casinos, racing entertainment centers, and PlayAlberta.ca for a period between six months up to three years.
“AGLC is pleased to be one of the few jurisdictions in North America to now be offering virtual sign-ups for our Self-Exclusion Program. Allowing players to sign-up online creates greater access to AGLC’s social responsibility tools and resources while supporting patrons that wish to control their gambling should they need to stay away from physical venues,” Kandice Machado, President and CEO of AGLC, said.
To complete the virtual sign-up process, patrons will need to have a valid, government issued identification, email address, and phone number. The process will continue through virtual meetings with AGLC’s Self-Exclusion administration team members.

Inspired Entertainment Secures Alberta iGaming Supplier Registration
Inspired Entertainment announced that it has been approved by the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission (AGLC) and has obtained registration as an iGaming Goods or Services Supplier – Critical Gaming Systems (IGCS).
This approval positions Inspired to support operators in Alberta’s soon to launch regulated iGaming market, further strengthening the Company’s presence across North America.
Alberta will become only the second Canadian province to introduce a regulated commercial online casino and sports betting market, with a planned launch date in the third quarter 2026. The province’s approach emphasizes strong regulation, player protection, and social responsibility.
Inspired is already active in the province through its partnership with Play Alberta, the government-run iGaming platform. That live experience gives Inspired valuable insight into the market, the regulatory environment, and player preferences.
“We are thrilled to receive our IGCS registration from the AGLC. Alberta is a highly attractive market, and our experience with Play Alberta gives us a strong foundation to expand responsibly. We look forward to helping operators deliver great gaming experiences while supporting the province’s commitment to player protection,” said Brooks Pierce, President and Chief Executive Officer of Inspired.

Bede Gaming cleared for Alberta market entry
The Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) board has declared Bede Gaming suitable to hold a conditional one-year iGaming Goods or Services Supplier licence when the province opens its regulated gambling market later in the year.
As one of the first international platform providers to be granted approval from the regulator, Bede is now ready to offer its services to operators targeting Alberta when the newly-regulated province officially goes live, creating a range of commercial possibilities for the company moving forward.
Fully SOC 2 certified, the established software provider is well-equipped to help partners secure a quick and hassle-free entry into Alberta, and its suite of in-house products and 150+ third-party integrations provides the perfect toolset for businesses to scale both efficiently and sustainably.
Having begun accepting registrations in January 2026, Alberta is expected to see growth on par with the regulated Ontario iGaming market over the longer term, making it an enticing destination for international operators looking to expand their global outreach; and Bede is honoured to be among the first licensed providers in the run-up to the province officially opening for business.
Colin Cole-Johnson, Chief Executive Officer at Bede Gaming, said: “Bede is delighted to receive conditional regulatory approval to work in Alberta, putting us in a great position to support operators with their upcoming expansions in the province.
“We have a longstanding investment in the Canadian iGaming industry, and I’m eager for the exciting opportunities ahead in this new market.
