BETSSON GROUP’S REGIONAL OPERATIONS CENTRE TO BE IN COLOMBIA
• In the 2022 third quarter, the company had an organic growth of 35% thanks to the Latin American, Central and Eastern European and Central Asian markets.
• Betsson sees significant growth potential in Latin American going forward, including Colombia
• In the region, Betsson Group is present in several countries.
On 22 November 2022, Betsson Group, a global online sports betting and casino operator, inaugurated its Latin American operations centre in Bogota, Colombia. This event was attended by different media and private and public sector entities such as Fecoljuegos (the Colombian Federation of Entrepreneurs of Games of Luck and Chance). With this opening, Betsson continues with its purpose of achieving a geographically diversified growth, where Latin American markets have become one of the main revenue streams.
“Latin America is a special region for us, so I am especially happy about the opening of this operations centre in Bogota. I am confident that, thanks to the talent present in the company, we will continue our progressive growth in the region and contribute to the development of an industry based on responsible entertainment,” said Jesper Svenson, CEO of Betsson Group.
In the third quarter of 2022, the company had an organic growth of 35% compared to last year, an increase explained to some extent by the Latin American, Central and Eastern European and Central Asian markets. Regarding Latin America, Betsson is developing a strategy based on geographic expansion and diversification where this region has an exponential market in online sports betting and casino.
In this sense, in August of this year the company entered the Mexican market, where it perceives a long-term growth potential due to the size of the economy, the population and the low level of penetration of online gambling in the country. In addition to the above, Betsson is the official sponsor of the professional soccer league in Peru and of the Women’s and Men’s CONMEBOL Copa America.
Betsson Group has a pan-Latin America strategy and is offering online gaming and betting services in several countries, for example Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia. Besides being the first regulated market in the online gaming industry, Colombia is one of the fastest growing gaming markets in the region for Betsson. The fast-growing online gaming market is driving technological innovation and progress, and is generating new jobs in the country.
“For Fecoljuegos, it is an honour to have as an affiliate one of the most important betting houses in the world. We feel pleased with the contribution of Betsson in Colombia, and we consider that the opening of its operations centre in the national territory shows once again its support to the gaming industry which, through Fecoljuegos, works to have a more competitive sector and which provides the right conditions for its further development. We identify with and applaud their proposal to promote actions of fair play, mutual support, teamwork, and responsibility, which adds value to the activity of Betsson Group in the country”, commented Evert Montero Cardenas, president of Fecoljuegos, who was present at the inauguration of Betsson’s operations centre for Latin America.
