Leading Lottery Expert Kurt D. Freedlund Joins Gaming Laboratories International (GLI®) as Senior Lottery Solutions Account Executive
Globally known lottery expert Kurt D. Freedlund has joined the lottery team at Gaming Laboratories International (GLI®) as Senior Lottery Solutions Account Executive.
Freedlund will work with GLI lottery customers providing world-class insights and strategy solutions regarding lottery products and operational modernization consulting support, governance, strategic planning and execution, procurement optimization, and business analysis.

Freedlund has a long history in the lottery industry. Most recently, he was the founder and CEO of KDF Consulting & Solutions, which aided various stakeholders in the lottery industry in addressing current issues impacting its future. He has also served as President of LottoInteractive Inc., where he actively represented the lottery industry in Washington D.C. to lobby for the rejection of the Restore the Wire Act legislation.
Previously, he acted as the COO & General Counsel for the Georgia Lottery Corporation, overseeing all operations and legal matters. He also represented the Mega Millions Consortium in working with the MUSL attorney to create and implement the PowerBall-Mega Millions cross-selling initiative; the creation and implementation of the Georgia Lottery’s iLottery program, and the lottery’s regulatory oversight of the Coin Operated Amusement Machines.
He was Executive Deputy Director & General Counsel for the Illinois Lottery, where he acted as lead counsel for the creation of the Big Game (now known as Mega Millions).
His insights into the lottery industry have been featured in numerous gaming trade publications, and he has been a featured speaker at gaming and lottery tradeshows around the world. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from the Northwestern University School of Law, and he holds a B.S. in Political Science and History from Northwestern University.

GLI Welcomes Around 300 Regulators to its 26th Annual Regulators Roundtable
Approximately 300 regulators from 16 countries attended the 26th annual Regulators Roundtable presented by Gaming Laboratories International (GLI). The event was hosted April 15-16 at the Palms Las Vegas.
The topics covered were as diverse as the attendees and included artificial intelligence, asset protection, cashless gaming, cyber resilience, digital responsible gaming interventions, geolocation, lottery modernization, patron protection, prediction markets, risk analysis, and sports betting.
Sports performance psychologist and author of Life as Sport Dr. Jonathan Fader delivered the keynote address. He spoke about how proven sport-performance psychology applies to the realities of today’s workplace, including high expectations, constant change, and pressure to perform.
In addition to the presentations and breakout sessions, GLI hosted an Innovation Tech Hub, which featured live demonstrations from Bulletproof, EPIC Global Solutions, Evive, GLI University, Kobetron, KOIN, and Marker Trax.

GLI announced the next Regulators Roundtable will take place April 7-8, 2027, at the Palms Las Vegas.

Gaming Laboratories International Named Best Testing Laboratory in the GamingTECH CEE Awards 2026
Gaming Laboratories International (GLI) has been named “Best Testing Laboratory in CEE” in the GamingTECH CEE Awards 2026. The awards were presented during the Hipther Prague Gaming & TECH Summit. GLI has won this award multiple times in a row.

GLI Becomes First International Gaming Lab to be Accredited in Ukraine
Gaming Laboratories International (GLI) has become the first international gaming lab to be accredited in Ukraine.
GLI Europe B.V. was appointed by Ukrainian regulatory authority, PlayCity, as both a testing/certification and inspection body for gambling equipment in the country and is currently the only foreign entity to be accredited.
GLI Europe B.V. will perform testing and certification of all gaming related hardware and software in accordance with the requirements of PlayCity and the Ukrainian gaming regulatory framework. GLI will deliver all Ukrainian certification services through its European operational hub, GLI Europe B.V., ensuring certification is conducted under GLI’s ISO/IEC 17025, 17020, and 17065 accreditations.
The company will work with both foreign and Ukrainian suppliers, whereas Ukraine is considered a regulated market, and suppliers will need to hold a certificate of approval from PlayCity in order to request certification for the market.

At GLI, we work with regulators in more than 710 jurisdictions, and we will bring our global expertise to PlayCity and to suppliers who wish to enter the Ukrainian market, guaranteeing the highest levels of testing quality and compliance,” said James Boje, Managing Director, EMEIA.
