Hawks Talon Gaming Earn First Win of 2021 Regular Season Against Grizz Gaming
2020 Team Leader in Points and Assists Per Game Michael Diaz-Cruz (BP) Makes 2021 Regular Season Debut
On Saturday evening, Hawks Talon GC, the official NBA 2K League affiliate of the Atlanta Hawks, split two games against Grizz Gaming, the official NBA 2K League affiliate of the Memphis Grizzlies, with scores of 51-82 and 68-61. The result of the second game marked Hawks Talon’s first win of the 2021 regular season.
“Credit to Grizz Gaming who came out strong in tonight’s first game, but I couldn’t be prouder of how we responded, how we made adjustments and how we executed in the second game,” said Hawks Talon Head Coach Wesley Acuff. “We’re thrilled to come away with our first victory of the season, but we know the season is long and we have a lot of work to do as we prepare for two very talented teams in Raptors Uprising GC and Heat Check Gaming next week.”
In the first game, Hawks Talon’s CEEZ (Caesar A. Martinez) totaled a team-high 16 points and a team-high 9 assists. LEE, recorded his second double-double performance of the 2021 season, with 14 points and 15 rebounds. BP, who led the team in points per game (26.4) and assists per game (7.8) in 2020, made his 2021 debut with the club and finished the game with 14 points and one assist. Rounding out the group were Michael Swanegan (SWANN) who finished with seven points and a career-high two blocks and Thomas Batts (FAKIEE), who finished with one rebound and one assist.
In the second game, Hawks Talon’s BP led the team with 19 points, three assists and a season-high three steals. SWANN put up a career-high 16 points, while CEEZ finished with his second double-double performance of his career after totaling 15 points and a game-high 10 assists. LEE, who was one rebound shy of tying his season high in rebounds after totaling 16, added eight points and contributed with game-high two blocks. FAKIEE matched his career high from last week with 10 points.
Hawks Talon Gaming will continue their regular season on Friday, June 4 at 7 p.m. against Raptors Uprising GC, the official NBA 2K League affiliate of the Toronto Raptors. Hawks Talon will then face Heat Check Gaming, the official NBA 2K League affiliate of the Miami, on Saturday, June 5 at 7 p.m. These games will be simulcast live on the NBA 2K League’s Twitch and YouTube channels. Games will also be available on ESRevolution, Loco in India, Sport1 in Europe and Dash Radio.
