LBPay Joins IBIA Payment Provider Forum to Strengthen Efforts Against Illegal Betting in Brazil
LBPay, a licensed payment institution, has joined the International Betting Integrity Association’s (IBIA) Payment Provider Forum in Brazil, strengthening cross-sector efforts to combat illegal betting and reinforce financial and sporting integrity within the country’s regulated market.
IBIA’s Payment Provider Forum brings together payment platforms and industry stakeholders to address shared threats, disrupt illegal betting flows and strengthen safeguards across the payment chain in Brazil. As part of the Forum, LBPay will contribute operational expertise and financial intelligence to support coordinated action against unlicensed betting activity.
LBPay’s participation comes at a time of increased regulatory focus on financial controls within Brazil’s betting market, where payment providers are prohibited from processing transactions for unauthorised operators. Through the Forum, members work collaboratively to close vulnerabilities, share knowledge and implement practical safeguards to protect consumers and the integrity of both the financial systems and sports betting markets.
Bruno Gonçalves, Commercial Director of LBPay, said: “Joining the IBIA Payment Provider Forum reflects our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of compliance and financial integrity. We recognise the importance of collaboration across the payments and betting ecosystem to prevent misuse and ensure that Brazil’s regulated market remains secure, transparent and resilient.”
Khalid Ali, CEO of IBIA, said: “We are pleased to welcome LBPay to the Payment Provider Forum. Payment providers are a critical line of defence in protecting the integrity of sports betting, particularly in markets like Brazil where financial transactions can be used to support illegal operators. By working together through the Forum, we can better detect and disrupt illicit payment flows, strengthen oversight of the regulated market and support wider efforts to safeguard sport from betting-related corruption.”
The Forum recently published a Best Practice Guide for payment providers in Brazil, setting out practical measures such as continuous licence verification, risk-based transaction monitoring and structured blocking and reporting protocols to combat illegal betting and associated financial crime. The guide underlines the importance of coordinated action across stakeholders to protect the regulated market and strengthen financial oversight.
