Casino Reopening

Century Casinos has resumed the operations at its Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack and Resort on June 5. Prior to reopening, Mountaineer implemented comprehensive and state-specific safety and social distancing protocols as directed by the West Virginia Lottery.

Colorado casinos are going to begin reopening on June 15 following a three-month shutdown due to COVID-19. Casinos in Cripple Creek will resume their operations on June 15. Gaming properties in Colorado’s other gaming hubs of Black Hawk and Central City will come back online on June 17.

Churchill Downs Incorporated (CDI) is in preparations to reopen Derby City Gaming, its historical racing machine property located in Louisville, Kentucky. All CDI properties will implement and practice the “CDI 360 Degree Approach to Safety,” which includes initiatives to facilitate social distancing, personal protection, and enhanced cleaning.

The Michigan Gaming Control Board has announced the minimum reopening guidelines for Detroit casinos. As per the guidelines, the capacity is limited to 15% of the established maximum capacity of casinos. Poker rooms will remain closed and other table games will only allow three players at one time.

New Partnerships

Philadelphia based Susquehanna International Group (SIG) has become the exclusive trading partner of Dignitas, the esports vertical of New Meta Entertainment (NME). The multi-year agreement will provide SIG with unique exposure to esports through Dignitas’ teams that compete in the world’s most popular games, including League of Legends, Counter Strike: Global Offensive, and Clash Royale.

BetMakers Technology Group has secured the rights to manage on-course Fixed Odds betting at New Jersey race track Monmouth Park.

BetMakers, through its wholly-owned subsidiary BetMakers DNA (BDNA), has signed an Agreement with Darby Development LLC, the operator of Monmouth Park, and New Jersey Thoroughbred Horsemen Association for a 5-year deal that is subject to BDNA obtaining regulatory approvals from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement and the New Jersey Racing Commission.

Latest Surveys

During a time of casino closures and league shutdowns, Colorado bettors have shown their willingness to engage with the state’s newly regulated sports betting offer.

In a recent survey by ColoradoSharp.com, 75% of respondents said they would return to casinos “as soon as they’re open.” Also, Colorado has generated sports betting revenue of $25.5 million in May 2020. All signs point to a statewide boom for betting revenue when full-fledged gambling returns to The Centennial State.

New Tax Regulations

A new VAT has come into force for foreign companies that provide digital services in Mexico. All companies that have businesses in the country must pay the 16% tax, despite not having residence there. The affected companies include betting operators, gaming platforms, as well as audiovisual entertainment and transport services.

New Launchings

Sky Racing World, the US-based subsidiary of Australian gaming and racing giant Tabcorp, has announced the imminent introduction of an Australian Greyhound Racing simulcast in the US. The product will be accessible to the audiences in the US on June 15.

New Gambling Compacts

Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt has announced that the federal government has approved the new gambling compacts between Oklahoma and two tribal nations – the Otoe-Missouria Tribe and the Comanche Nation. The new compacts authorize the tribes to offer additional forms of gambling, including sports betting, and to build new casinos closer to metropolitan areas.

Limited-run “Super By Superbet” launch includes the “Camisa Cafu,” with 150 numbered and signed units referencing his 150 Brazil caps.

Superbet honored former Brazil captain Cafu on Monday (15) with a campaign displayed on a Times Square billboard in New York City. The company said the activation promoted its “Super By Superbet” exclusive collection created for the 2026 edition, which includes a special piece dedicated to the player.

According to the company, Cafu attended the display in person, drawing a crowd of fans seeking photos and chanting his name in one of the city’s busiest tourist areas.

The shirt is wonderful. I feel very happy for all the incredible moments I’ve experienced here. I receive so much affection everywhere I go. Receiving recognition while still alive is one of the best things in the world.”.

It’s an inexplicable energy to feel the love of the Brazilian people for me, right there in Times Square. Only we Brazilians know what that means.

The centerpiece of the launch, which Superbet said totals 3,000 pieces, is the “Camisa Cafu.” The item is a limited run of 150 numbered and autographed units, which the company said references Cafu’s 150 matches for the Brazilian national team, and includes the inscription “Jardim Irene,” highlighting the player’s roots.

Ignition Casino: One-night Las Vegas Strip spend hits $668, up 109% since 2014

ignition-casino:-one-night-las-vegas-strip-spend-hits-$668,-up-109%-since-2014

Resort fees are up 194% and Nevada’s live poker table count is down 38% since 2011, based on UNLV and Gaming Commission data cited in the report.

The cost of a one-night visit to the Las Vegas Strip has more than doubled since 2014, according to a new “Las Vegas Inflation Index” published by Ignition Casino. The report estimates a typical one-night “basket” of expenses at $667.85 in 2026 versus $319.09 in 2014, a 109.3% increase.

Ignition Casino’s basket includes the Strip average for a blackjack minimum bet, weekend one-night hotel stay, resort fee, domestic beer, bottle of water, dinner (entrée and drink), a show ticket and valet parking. In the company’s breakdown, resort fees show the steepest jump, rising from $19.43 to $48.49 (+194.5%). Other increases cited include blackjack minimum bets from $50.00 to $112.17 (+124.3%), show tickets from $82.86 to $175.91 (+112.3%), water from $3.00 to $7.00 (+133.3%), and valet parking moving from free to $40.

For poker, the report argues higher trip costs are landing alongside a smaller live product. Citing UNLV’s Center for Gaming Research and Nevada Gaming Commission Quarterly Reports, it says Nevada’s live poker table count fell from 957 in 2011 to 595 by end-2025, a 38% decline. On the Strip, the report puts active poker rooms at eight today—Aria, Bellagio, Caesars Palace, Horseshoe, Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand, The Venetian and Wynn—down from approximately 17 in the late 2000s.

The company also points to higher rake caps compared with 2014. It states Aria’s rake is “10% of the pot up to a maximum cap of $7 per hand,” Bellagio’s cap is $6, and the remaining Strip rooms are at $5, versus a 2014 Strip average cap of $4. Using an assumed 30 raked hands per hour, the report estimates that a $2 higher cap at cap-reaching tables equates to “an extra $60 per hour” going to the house, or $300 over a five-hour session.

At blackjack, Ignition Casino ties higher table minimums to shorter expected playtime for fixed budgets. It estimates a $500 bankroll would last about 2 hours and 22 minutes at the 2014 average minimum bet, versus about 28 minutes at the 2026 average minimum, using an approach it attributes to “casino risk analysts and quantitative mathematicians” and assuming 70 hands per hour and a blackjack standard deviation of 1.15.
