IESF Announces Official Game Titles for 2023 World Esports Championship
The International Esports Federation (IESF) has announced the return of six popular game titles to the 2023 World Esports Championship. The Championships Finals will officially kick off in August. This year, Iași, Romania will host the 15th edition of IESF’s flagship event with a record number of over 120 countries expected to compete.
The 2022 WE Championship in Bali, Indonesia, introduced mobile titles PUBG MOBILE and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, and both will return following successful competitions which supported IESF’s efforts to make esports more accessible. CS:GO, Dota 2, Tekken 7, and eFootball™ series were featured in the 2021 and 2022 WE Championship as part of IESF’s rich and consistent history of hosting successful esports competitions.
IESF President Vlad Marinescu said: “After the success of the games last year and positive feedback and experience, we are thrilled to announce that the same six tremendously popular game titles will be featured in the upcoming 2023 World Esports Championship. IESF is extremely grateful for the continued cooperation from these prominent game publishers, and we are looking forward to uniting the World Esports Family once again in Iași!”
Tiffany Lim, the Chair of IESF’s Athletes’ Committee said: “It is vital for the voices of the esports athletes to be heard and represented, and the IESF Athletes Committee is here to help achieve that and bring about change. We are really excited about the new batch of athletes who’re going to be competing at the 2023 World Esports Championships, and confident that we will once again see fierce competition this year. GLHF all!.”
The national qualifiers officially wrapped up last week, and the regional qualifiers are set to begin in May. IESF recently announced they would be extending their partnership with FITGMR to provide the necessary tools and support for the World Esports Family at this year’s WE Championship Finals.
