Svenska Spel Publishes its Interim Report for the First Quarter of 2026
Svenska Spel has published its interim report for the first quarter of 2026 (January – March 2026).
The first quarter of the year is characterised by increased net gaming revenue, improved operating profit and strengthened operating margin, driven by brands such as Lotto and Oddset. The quarter is also characterised by successes for Swedish sports, where Svenska Spel’s commitment contributes to strengthening both sports and business.
“We have high ambitions for 2026 and one of our priorities is sustainable growth with a focus on our strong products. It is therefore positive that the year begins with growth in line with the market, with the product brands as the driving force,” said Anna Johnson, President and CEO of Svenska Spel.
Financial development
The Group’s net gaming revenue amounted to SEK 1880 million (1850) during the quarter, an increase of SEK 30 million or 2% compared to the corresponding quarter last year. The growth is driven by strong product brands within both lotteries and sports and casino games. More and more customers appreciate Svenska Spel’s offering. Both activity and the number of customers have increased during the quarter.
Net gaming revenue in the Luck business area increased by 2% compared to the same quarter last year. Lotto continues to develop positively, while Triss benefits from Easter falling earlier this year. Eurojackpot is developing slightly better than the corresponding quarter last year, even though jackpot levels have not reached the same levels as then.
For the Sport & Casino business area, net gaming revenue increased by 3% compared to the same quarter last year. The growth was driven primarily by sports betting under the Oddset brand and online casino, as a result of customers being more active and a higher average bet per customer. The Winter Olympics contributed to increased interest compared to corresponding previous championships. At the same time, the normal supply of Olympic breaks was affected, which had a negative effect on pool games.
Net gaming revenue in the Vegas business area decreased by 17% compared to the same quarter last year. Measures focusing on cost efficiency and profitable business partners continue to meet the trend where more and more customers choose to play online.
The Group’s online business increased by 7% compared to the corresponding quarter last year. Online accounted for 67% (63) of the Group’s revenue during the quarter.
The Group’s operating profit increased by SEK 25 million or 4% to SEK 659 million (634). The outcome is affected by increased revenues while costs are at the same level as last year. The operating margin increased and amounted to 35% (34) for the quarter.
Commitment to sports
Svenska Spel’s business is built on commitment to games and sports. The partnership with sports has existed since 1934 and is today a central part of the business. With around SEK 300 million annually, the group is a significant enabler of Swedish sports, which contributes value to both sports and the business.
As the main sponsor of the Swedish Olympic Committee, Svenska Spel followed the success of the Swedish athletes at the Olympic Games in Milan Cortina during the quarter and, as the main sponsor of the Swedish Football Association, the qualification of the men’s national team for the World Cup. When Swedish sports achieve success, customer engagement also increases. This is particularly evident at major international championships, not least when Sweden participates. Participation in the World Cup is therefore expected to contribute positively to the business through higher customer activity and new customer growth.
Gaming experiences and winnings
The celebration of Triss’ 40th anniversary has begun with a promotional lottery where the highest prize is SEK 40,000 per month for a year. Oddset is also celebrating its 40th anniversary and has received expanded functionality during the quarter, which strengthens customer engagement and contributes to an improved gaming experience.
The 29th edition of the Stryktipsets championship Tips-SM has been decided with nearly 55,600 people and 3600 teams registered. The three best tipsters individually and in teams were allowed to donate the prize money through the sponsorship initiative Gräsroten. A total of half a million kronor was distributed to sports clubs in Sweden.
During the quarter, 91 million-dollar prizes were awarded on lotteries with a total value of just over SEK 287 million. The highest prize was almost SEK 34 million on Lotto Drömvinsten. Sports and casino games have awarded 26 million-dollar prizes during the quarter, of which the largest prize amounted to just over SEK 4 million on Stryktipset.
