Denmark’s Gross Gaming Revenue Down 18.2% in August

The Danish Gambling Authority Spillemyndigheden has announced the country’s gaming revenue for August, which amounted to €66.3m. This was a decrease of 18.2% from July and down 1.2% from the previous August.

Sports betting revenue was down significantly, dropping to DKK128m from DKK235m in July. This was a decrease of 45.5% month-on-month and down 26.0% from DKK173m recorded in August 2020.

Online casino revenue came to DKK221m, a 3.4% drop from DKK229m reported in July but an 87.2% rise from DKK118m reported in the previous August.

Slot machine revenue totalled DKK112m in August, a rise of 2.7% from July and a 1.8% rise from August last year.

Land-based casinos generated DKK33m in revenue throughout the month. This was an increase of 6.4% monthly and 13.7% year-on-year.

In August, it was announced that Danish gaming revenue for the first half of the year had grown by 6.4% to DKK2.8bn.
