Play’n GO Explore New Stories with The Faces of Freya
Play’n GO continue to expand the narratives of their slots with their final February release, the Norse themed slot The Faces of Freya.
The Faces of Freya is a 5×3 video slot played along 20 paylines. The game focuses on a Norse Goddess not usually depicted in games or other media; her inclusion in this title speaks to the supplier’s commitment to creating new stories and exploring alternative ideas in their slots.
While the Norse theme is a popular one in gaming, most are based around more well-known characters like Thor, Loki and Odin. Play’n GO themselves found great success with the likes of Viking Runecraft featuring these idols.
What they are adept at doing is taking popular themes and ideas and expanding the scope beyond what we usually see in the market, giving a fresh alternative to players. Titles like Lord Merlin & The Lady of the Lake, Rabbit Hole Riches and Ring of Odin have all offered players a fresh take on the familiar.
The game itself focuses on the forces of sorcery, love and war. Each of these forces gives players a different ability during the Free Spins feature, whether it be symbol upgrades, added Wilds or multipliers, and can also activate during the base game. This focuses on the Scatter feature, Freya’s amulet, which will reveal which ‘face of Freya’ and therefore which feature players are getting. The variety of having essentially three separate free spins features adds to the excitement and anticipation of the players’ session, letting them get more out of the game.
Variety is something CPO Martin Zettergen feels strongly about:
“Variety is imperative in this industry because players need to be stimulated. There are so many options available to them nowadays, but many fall back on the same tropes and ideas.
Variety in our themes and narratives, like basing this game on a lesser-known character, and variety in our features give players something different to look forward to in a medium that they love.”
The Faces of Freya is out for release today.
