Total Performance Data kicks off landmark LatAm deal on Group 1 raceday
Total Performance Data (TPD) have taken a huge stride forward in their role as the world’s largest and fastest source of live horse racing data, having successfully rolled out their services at South America’s biggest race, the Group 1 Gran Premio Latinamerico.
Hipodromo Chile, the venue for this year’s Gran Premio Latinamericano, is the first Latin American track to starting using the TPD race tracking technology as part of a deal struck between TPD and El Turf.
TPD’s state of the art system was successfully debuted on Saturday with on-course in-running graphics used across 24 races on the day. In total, TPD were responsible for tracking 11 hours’ worth of racing, with the stride and sectional data of 360 horses across 24 races gathered, with the Group 1 Gran Premio Latinoamericano, won by favourite O’Connor, one of the contests the cutting-edge data was on hand for.
Will Duff Gordon, CEO of Total Performance Data, said: “Following on from our agreement with El Turf, we’re delighted to be in Latin American and equally delighted to have started off at Hipodromo Chile, who hosted an excellent renewal of the Group 1 Gran Premio Latinamerico on Saturday.
“It was fantastic to see our graphics used on the screens at the track, and the fact that we had to track 24 races in an 11-hour period was a great test for the software, so it was brilliant that it all went smoothly.
“This was one of the greatest operational challenges we’ve faced so far given we weren’t able to be on the ground, so I’m really proud we were able to have our services in full operation for South America’s biggest race.”
