Governor Seeks Clarification from Nevada Gaming Control Board about Slot Machine Use in Bars

On July 10, 2020, Governor Sisolak issued Declaration of Emergency Directive 027. The Nevada Gaming Control Board (Board) has received inquiries related to sections 5 and 6 of Emergency Directive 027, seeking guidance from the Board on its interpretation on what constitutes the bar area, and whether Emergency Directive 027 allows stand alone slot machines that touch the bar top to operate.

While the provisions of sections 5 and 6 of Emergency Directive 027 are in force, stand-alone slot machines may be placed temporarily next to a bar top in a licensee’s establishment and played by patrons. Additionally, slot machines in buddy bars may be made available for play. Slot machines embedded in a bar, as defined in subsection 3 of NRS 463.161, and as noted in a licensee’s current diagram on file with the Board, must remain unavailable for play.

All licensees are reminded that placement of slot machines must comply with the Health and Safety Policies for Resumption of Gaming Operations. This includes, without limitation, spacing slot machines at least 6 feet apart or complying with an alternate plan approved by the Board, and the cleaning and disinfection of each machine and any partitions or barriers between machines after each use by a patron. The use of such partitions or barriers is highly encouraged.

Pursuant to Regulation 4.090, a licensee must obtain approval by the Board before changing the placement of slot machines. All electrical and data communication wiring for the slot machines and associated systems must be safeguarded and secured. Pursuant to Regulation 4.090: 1) adequate supervision over slot machines must be maintained; and 2) a new floor diagram must be submitted and approved prior to any slot machine being moved, placed, or activated for play. This Industry Notice in no way amends or rescinds any requirements imposed by Governor Sisolak’s Declaration of Emergency Directives, the Board’s Health and Safety Policies, or other Industry Notices issued by the Board. Further, a licensee that chooses to place slot machines in buddy bars or standalone slot machines temporarily next to a bar top remains responsible for compliance with all provisions of the Gaming Control Act, the Nevada Gaming Commission Regulations, and any local ordinances related to gaming.

Tonybet says a player in Laurier-Station, Canada has claimed the “golden card” prize worth $20,000 CAD in the operator’s World Cup Card Collection. The announcement was made Tuesday 21st July 2026.

The World Cup collection featured 51 cards in total, including 48 digital cards representing participating World Cup nations, plus three unique prize cards in bronze, silver and gold. Tonybet said the bronze card—available during the group stage—was previously found by a customer in Saint-Colomban, Canada, while the silver card—available during the knockout rounds up to the quarter-finals—was won by a player in County Kildare, Ireland.

The golden card became available for the semi-final, third-place play-off and final, and has now been claimed, Tonybet said.

Supplier secures AGLC registration and extends its Canadian footprint beyond Ontario, where it has been live since 2022.

Greentube has gone live in Alberta on the day the province opened as a newly regulated iGaming market, marking the supplier’s first launch in the jurisdiction.

The NOVOMATIC Digital Gaming and Entertainment division said it completed regulatory and technical due diligence and secured registration with the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) commission to operate in the province. Alberta becomes only the second Canadian province to regulate iGaming after Ontario, with the new framework replacing the monopoly previously held by Play Alberta.

The Alberta launch builds on Greentube’s existing Canadian footprint. The company has been live in Ontario since 2022 and described the Alberta debut as part of its wider North American expansion strategy.

Greentube said Alberta players will initially have access to a curated set of titles including Piggy Prizes Wand of Riches 2, Rumble Riches Haulin’ Gold and Firecracker Frenzy Money Toad, as well as Silver Lux Big Win Spinner, Starlight Jackpots Captain’s Catch and Charming Lady’s Boom.
