Parimatch Tech hosts Universal Sports & Games Hackathon
Over 100 ideas generated in just 48 hours
Between 7th-9th of August Parimatch Tech hosted a two-day online Universal Sports & Games Hackathon at its state-of-the-art “PMHUB” event space. The hackathon, organized by Parimatch Tech together with JKR in partnership with Amazon and SectorX, bought together over 400 developers, marketers and designers to come up with innovative solutions in the gaming and gaming services industry.
Participants came from nine countries including Ukraine, Germany, Spain, Belarus and Poland, generating 111 ideas over 48 hours, including games, streaming tools, analytics services and various applications. 37 teams made it to the final, but only one could be crowned winner.
The Hackathon was won by “The Dragon’s team”, made up of developers Nikolay Ursatiy and Sergey Poverennov. The duo created “RunOut”, a runner platform game. They took home the first place prize of $1500.
“It is great to see people keep generating ideas, even though they can’t get together in the same room as normal. An online hackathon is a new format for us and we are pleased with the result: organizers, judges, and mentors saw many different high concept ideas being generated.” — noted Stepan Shulga, head of Esports at Parimatch.
“We are delighted with our victory. The hackathon was a great experience for us. Many teams came up with some really interesting and exciting ideas. This event gave us a chance to test our capabilities and get feedback from mentors and judges. We’re going to continue working on the game, and shortly, we will move on to negotiations with publishers.” — comments Nikolay Ursatiy, team leader of the Dragon’s Team.
Second and third places were taken by teams “Narwhal” who came up with a service for the multification of sporting events, and “PixelGaming”, whose idea was a mobile game in the MOBA clicker genre. They received $1000 and $500 respectively.
As part of the hackathon, select teams carried out particular challenges set by the judges. The teams “Team B” and “Kodoklyaksa” were each awarded $500 for their innovative ideas. The JKR Foundation also invited team “PolyRef” to further develop their idea of a service for collecting sports statistics.
As well as the prize money, the winner and two runners-up get exclusive access to the Parimatch Tech team and its facilities. Here, together with Parimatch’s tech specialists, the participants will have the opportunity to test their ideas on an audience of thousands of people.
But the hackathon doesn’t end there. The judges took an extra week to look through all the applications one more time to advance some additional ideas. The results of this will be announced on 19th August 2020.

Bonus Abuse Emerges as the Most Widespread Form of Online Gaming Fraud in North America
LexisNexis Risk Solutions released the results of its first Fraud and Identity Industry Pulse: Online Gaming in North America report, an analysis of fraud trends impacting online casinos, sportsbooks and iGaming platforms across the region. The study, based on a survey of 993 online gaming industry decision makers, reveals that bonus abuse now ranks as the single most prevalent form of fraud in North America’s gaming sector, cited by 78% of respondents as a top threat to their business.
Bonus abuse schemes, where fraudsters repeatedly exploit new-account bonuses using synthetic identities, stolen credentials and multiple accounts, are costing operators millions of dollars per year. Global contributory networks detected over 95,000 fraud events tied to a single abuse network, representing an exposure of up to $3.2 million.
Fraud is most concentrated at the beginning and end of the customer journey, specifically during account creation and withdrawals which accounts for roughly 60% of total fraud exposure. While direct financial losses remain the most visible consequence, operators also report rising compliance costs, customer churn and brand damage as key areas of impact.
“Bonus abuse has become the gaming industry’s version of first-party fraud. It’s organized, repeatable and difficult to detect without multi-layered intelligence. As gaming operators compete for players through incentives and faster onboarding, they must also strengthen their defenses at the point of entry,” said Sean Britt, senior director, global gaming markets, LexisNexis Risk Solutions.
Despite mounting threats, the report finds that North American gaming professionals remain focused on frictionless user experiences. Eighty one percent (81%) of respondents said even moderate onboarding friction can drive customers to competitors, prompting increased investment in automated KYC processes and real-time fraud detection tools.
The study also reveals that data collaboration is an underused yet powerful defense: Only one in five operators currently share fraud intelligence, though those that do report faster detection, fewer false positives, and improved customer trust.
As online gaming operators continue to navigate the dual pressures of delivering seamless player experiences while combating increasingly sophisticated fraud networks, the industry’s path forward will depend on smarter, more collaborative defenses. The findings from the report make clear that bonus abuse is not just a financial risk but a structural challenge that demands coordinated action, advanced intelligence and a renewed focus on trust.
Methodology: LexisNexis Risk Solutions Fraud and Identity Industry Pulse: Online Gaming in North America study conducted a survey in collaboration with SIS Competitive Gaming of 993 decision-makers across the online gaming industry, including fraud and identity professionals responsible for customer security, ID verification and compliance. The study provides organizations with data and analysis to understand the challenges and preferred mitigation strategies of fraud and identity professionals in the region.

Compliance Updates
GeoComply Launches Unified Identity Platform for Brazil
GeoComply has launched a unified identity platform for Brazil, bringing KYC verification, anti-fraud intelligence, and geolocation compliance together in a single value package designed specifically for the country’s regulated iGaming market.
“Brazil is one of the most complex and fast-moving regulated markets in the world, and operators there are dealing with challenges that off-the-shelf solutions simply aren’t built for. We’ve taken the same approach that has delivered industry-leading pass rates across more than 30 jurisdictions—custom-built, locally tuned, obsessively optimized—and applied it to Brazil. The result is a single platform that solves KYC, fraud, and compliance together, so operators can focus on growth instead of managing vendor sprawl,” said Kip Levin, CEO of GeoComply.
The platform is designed to make trust-versus-risk decisions clear from the first interaction—helping operators welcome legitimate players quickly while acting decisively against fraud.
Best-in-Class Pass Rates, Made Easy
At the core of the Brazil launch is a managed, local KYC waterfall delivered through one endpoint. Instead of stitching together fragmented vendor integrations and inconsistent onboarding flows, operators gain access to leading Brazilian data sources through a continuously optimized identity infrastructure.
Players experience a streamlined registration journey with docless flows that leverage CPF validation, while operators achieve stronger pass rates without increasing operational complexity or manual review queues.
This same identity framework has delivered pass rates above 95% across U.S. states and above 90% in the UK, demonstrating a repeatable model for improving conversion in regulated markets.
“As we grow internationally, we know we can trust GeoComply to deliver excellent results and show up as a strategic partner that is focused on our success. Their team’s expertise and dedication to getting it right have helped us achieve high pass rates and an excellent player experience in Brazil and Argentina, all while giving the entire team at Betano peace of mind that we are meeting evolving regulatory standards,” said George Moschetas, Director of Product at Kaizen Gaming, the parent company of Betano.
Fraud Intelligence That Extends Beyond Registration
What differentiates GeoComply from standalone KYC vendors is what happens after verification. The platform applies real-time device, location, and behavioral intelligence throughout the player lifecycle—helping operators detect deepfakes, local mule rings, and account takeover attempts without disrupting legitimate users.
Machine learning models trained specifically for Brazil analyze device manipulation, high-risk location activity, and cross-account linkages in real time—while supporting AML compliance requirements through continuous monitoring.
One Platform. One Partner.
Rather than layering separate KYC vendors, fraud tools, and geolocation providers, operators gain a unified identity infrastructure and a single operational partner.
GeoComply manages vendor relationships, waterfall optimization, regulatory alignment, and continuous model tuning—supported by a dedicated Fraud and Risk team that works alongside operators as threats evolve. The platform delivers up to 99.7% geolocation pass rates and 99.999% uptime reliability in regulated environments.

Caesars Entertainment Windsor Limited
OLG and Caesars Sign Long-term Operating Agreement for Windsor Casino
The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) and Caesars Entertainment Windsor Limited (Caesars) announced that they have entered into a Casino Operating and Services Agreement (COSA) for the Windsor casino.
Under the new, close to 20-year agreement, Caesars continues day-to-day operations of the Windsor casino, ensuring its exciting brand of gaming entertainment remains part of the Windsor skyline.
“This is a great day for OLG, our partners at Caesars and the City of Windsor. The agreement we’ve signed will see our partnership with Caesars continue for many years to come. It’s a partnership that has benefitted the community and local economy in countless ways and we’re thrilled to continue our contribution together,” said OLG’s President and CEO, Duncan Hannay.
The Windsor casino is the final gaming site in Ontario to transition to OLG’s Land-based Gaming modernization model.
In May 2025, Stan Cho, Ontario’s Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming and OLG announced that Caesars had been selected as the operator through a competitive procurement process, with the expected transition to the new agreement with Caesars in early 2026.
“We are proud to continue bringing the iconic Caesars brand to life here in Windsor. For more than three decades, this Resort has been a cornerstone of the region’s tourism economy, and for the past 18 years it has proudly carried the Caesars name. We look forward to building on that legacy by delivering the world‑class hospitality, entertainment, and service our guests expect from Caesars,” said Anthony Carano, President and Chief Operating Officer of Caesars Entertainment.
Under the new agreement, OLG will continue to make Municipality Contribution Agreement (MCA) payments to the City of Windsor. Since 1994, OLG has provided more than $138 million in MCA payments to the city as a gaming host community. Additionally, Caesars must maintain current casino employment levels for a period of no less than 18 months. Unionized employees will be governed by the terms of their collective agreement.
Through its Land-based Gaming modernization, OLG has been transferring day-to-day operations of casinos to private sector service providers who are investing in Ontario communities. To date, OLG’s land-based gaming service providers have invested more than $2.9 billion in communities across the province, which both encourages local economic growth and helps OLG increase its contribution to the Province of Ontario.
OLG promotes safer gambling and empowers players to make informed decisions at every step of their play. PlaySmart provides tools and information that help players stay in control and enjoy games on their terms.
