Gaming in Europe Webinar — Inside the Rise of Illegal Affiliate Marketing: Tactics & Countermeasures
To raise awareness of the increasing issue of illegal affiliate marketing affecting licensed markets, Gaming in Europe will conduct a webinar called “Understanding the rise of illegal affiliate marketing: Techniques & solutions” on Thursday, April 16, at 14:00 CET.
An increasing issue
Due to the rising significance of online platforms – particularly in conjunction with limitations on broadcast and print advertising – affiliate marketing has emerged as a more vital route for participants to discover and locate the iGaming operators that suit their requirements.
The battle for recognition
Unauthorized affiliates, along with the larger entities supporting them, not only enhance the exposure of illicit offers; they frequently also manage to diminish the visibility of licensed operators and affiliates advocating licensed offers.
This webinar will detail the tactics that unlawful affiliates employ to enhance their own visibility while diminishing that of their legitimate rivals. Additionally, this webinar will examine the actions that legal affiliates, licensed operators, and regulators can implement to reduce the effects of unlawful affiliate marketing.
A problem affecting all of Europe
Since offshore online gambling operators and their related illegal affiliates typically function on a European or even worldwide scale, this webinar will be pertinent to stakeholders in all regulated or soon-to-be-regulated online gambling markets, such as Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, Finland, and others.
#TakeBackTheMarket
Founder Willem van Oort of Gaming in Europe stated: “Aligned with Gaming in Europe’s larger goal to assist legal stakeholders against unlawful and unfair competition – concisely captured as #ReclaimTheMarket – we have opted to examine more closely the reasons and consequences of the rising influence of illegal affiliate marketing.” We will examine some of the dubious tactics employed by illegal affiliates and also investigate what advocates of the legal market, including regulators and licensed operators, can do to combat this.”

TAG Media and Gamblitude launch affiliate tool affie.ai
TAG Media and Gamblitude have launched affie.ai, a guided decision-making engine designed for iGaming affiliate managers. The companies said the product will make its debut at SBC Summit Malta, running 28–30 April.
At the event, affie.ai’s Elaine Gardiner, Alana Weldon and Wojtek Sznapka will demonstrate the platform to operators interested in becoming one of five launch partners. The companies said they are offering a “No Strings Attached” six-week trial to five operators.
affie.ai is positioned as a decision layer rather than an affiliate tracking platform or dashboard. TAG Media said the product is built on strategic frameworks the company has used across “50+ programme launches” over the past decade, while Gamblitude provides the data and analytics layer. Gamblitude was founded by former STS chief technology officer Wojtek Sznapka and former STS chief sportsbook officer Piotr Cerlak.
The companies said affie.ai provides data-informed recommendations covering deal structures, partner performance, programme optimisation and commercial risk insights, with the goal of reducing time spent on reporting and spreadsheet-based analysis.
Elaine Gardiner, Co-Founder of affie.ai says: “After 17 years managing affiliate programmes for operators including Cherry Casino, Ninja Casino and Rizk, I know what good decision-making looks like in this role and I know how rarely it’s supported by the right tools. affie.ai takes the strategic thinking our team applies every day and makes it available on demand and at pace: specific to your programme, specific to your data and ready when the affiliate manager needs it.”

ReferOn adds crypto finance layer to automate affiliate payouts
ReferOn has launched a built-in crypto finance layer designed to automate affiliate payouts and centralise crypto payout workflows inside its platform. The company said the feature supports crypto payments through its licensed partners’ payment gateways and is available now.
ReferOn said the layer is intended to replace manual, fragmented finance processes with program funding, real-time visibility into funds, automated crypto payouts, and audit-ready transaction history with exports. The company is positioning the release at affiliate teams that manage high payout volumes and frequent reconciliation work.
The update introduces a dedicated finance page for each affiliate program, including program funding and balance visibility, integrated top-ups with deposit address management, and a transaction journal with filters, detail views, pagination, and CSV export. ReferOn also said the automated payout flow records conversion data (rate and amounts), syncs statuses, and creates transaction records instantly.
On controls, ReferOn said each automated payout requires explicit confirmations and 2FA before being triggered. The company added that the feature is built to support audit and compliance needs through traceable transaction logs and one-click CSV exports.
Vlad Bondarenko, Head of Product at ReferOn, commented: “In all honesty, manual crypto payments are a disaster waiting to happen. When teams are afraid of entering the wrong address, making a double payment, or organising ever-growing spreadsheets, the team environment turns conservative and reactive. Our new crypto finance layer eliminates this confusion by providing managers with a comprehensive, centralised hub that automates the manual via integrated payment partners. This feature isn’t about offering affiliates a fancy new payment method or automating for the sake of it, it’s about freeing you up to run a revamped financial operation.”

SpinsFriends selects NetRefer to run affiliate marketing programme
BALTENT’s slots-focused brand says the platform will support tracking, reporting and scalable partner management in regulated European markets.
Slots-focused online casino brand SpinsFriends has partnered with NetRefer to power and manage its affiliate programme as it expands across regulated European markets.
SpinsFriends is operated by BALTENT and runs two brands, Spins and Aladins. The company said it chose NetRefer in part because the platform already had an integration with its platform provider, enabling faster setup.
Artūrs Sarma, CEO and Founder at BALTENT, said, “NetRefer already had an existing integration with our platform provider, which made the decision straightforward and allowed us to move quickly with the setup. As we scale, having clear reporting and flexible commission structures is important, and the platform gives us the tools to manage our affiliate programme in a structured and efficient way. The onboarding process was well supported, and the team guided us through each step, which made the overall experience smooth.”
NetRefer said the deployment includes its Data Ingestion API for structured data transfer and real-time visibility into affiliate activity, alongside reporting tools such as BI Analytics and Report Builder. The vendor also highlighted NetRefer CoPilot AI for performance insights and “Enhanced Tracking,” which it said combines bot detection and user agent details.
Yuliia Borshch, NetRefer’s dedicated Account Manager for SpinsFriends, said, “SpinsFriends is a brand with a clear focus on building a structured and scalable affiliate programme, and we’re pleased to support that with technology designed to deliver both clarity and flexibility. Our platform provides the tools needed to manage performance with confidence, maintain transparency across its affiliate programme, and adapt as requirements evolve. We look forward to working closely with their team as they continue to grow.”
