Jumbo Appoints New CFO as Financial Results Climb
Sharing its financial results for the six-month period ending December 31, 2023, 1H23, Jumbo Interactive also confirmed Jatin Khosla has begun his new role as chief financial officer.
Revenue for 1H23 reached $73.9m, up 18.4% over the 1H22 figure. Underlying EBITDA was also up 15.5% to $35.1m.
Jumbo CEO and founder Mike Veverka said: “1H23 was a tough comparative period with three $100m+ jackpots including a $160m Powerball. We are very pleased with the solid 1H24 revenue growth in lottery retailing despite slightly lower ticket sales and subdued jackpots. Looking ahead, the second half of FY24 has started extremely well with a record $200m Powerball in February, our best draw to date.
“Despite the final step-up in The Lottery Corporation service fee, disciplined cost management and strong revenue growth resulted in lottery retailing EBITDA margin expansion in the half. Revenue growth from our international subsidiaries was in line with our mid to high single digit growth expectations, with these businesses now representing almost 20 per cent of group revenue.”
Kholsa was announced as the interim CFO last October, but now he officially takes on the role.

Kaizen Gaming, one of the world’s biggest GameTech companies and owner of the Betano online sports betting and gaming brand, has retained its title of “Operator of the Year” in the iGaming industry and won a total of six awards at the prestigious EGR Operator Awards ceremony, held on October 22nd in London.
For the second year running, Kaizen Gaming secured the “Operator of the Year” award, highlighting its leading position in the sector, driven by the company’s international presence in 19 markets and its top place in many of them. - In-play Sports Operator of the Year

George Daskalakis, co-founder and CEO of Kaizen Gaming, said: “At Kaizen we are very honoured when we receive such distinctions but don’t get too caught up with them. For us, it is all about staying humble, being hungry to achieve more, and hustling to turn ambition into action, while continuously evolving the i-gaming experience we offer to our customers. This is the mentality that has given us this award. This year we are especially proud because it marks our second “Operator of the Year” win in a row and the third during the last four years. It is always great to win but it is even more special to repeat and to show consistency over time. We would like to thank the EGR and the judges, as we deem such recognitions great motivation to keep pushing forward. We would also like to thank our customers, whose trust is our ultimate goal and biggest honour. More than anyone though, credit goes to the three thousand Kaizeners whose combined efforts as one team makes it all possible.”

HERMES Climate Protection Prize
NOVOMATIC Wins Coveted HERMES Climate Protection Award
Reading Time: 1 minute
NOVOMATIC was awarded the prestigious HERMES Climate Protection Prize for the construction of its photovoltaic system at its headquarters. Covering an area the size of three soccer fields and featuring more than 4600 solar panels, the PV system already caused a stir when it was inaugurated last fall in 2024.
By constructing the photovoltaic system on an area of 20,000 square meters, the company is sending a strong signal for climate protection and a sustainable future. The system generates around 2 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually, enabling the gaming technology group to cover a significant portion of its energy requirements at the site with emission-free energy. This corresponds to carbon dioxide savings of more than 1100 tons per year, comparable to the compensation of over 90,000 trees. The project is the largest among the group-wide PV installations at international company locations, such as Germany, Italy, Spain and Australia, and impressed this year’s expert jury at HERMES.
Mag. Stefan Krenn, CEO of NOVOMATIC AG, said: “With the photovoltaic system at our headquarters, we have reached a significant milestone in our sustainability strategy and are sending a clear signal for a strong and environmentally conscious energy future. The HERMES award is therefore an important recognition of our efforts in the area of sustainability.”
At the festive “Gala of the Austrian Economy” on October 10 at the Hofburg Palace in Vienna, with around 400 invited guests, the HERMES Climate Protection Award was accepted by Christoph Neubauer, Director Group CR & Sustainability, and Florian Saiko, Director Group Finance.
The HERMES Climate Protection Award is presented annually to Austrian companies that are actively committed to a climate-friendly future through innovative projects. The climate projects submitted from all sectors of the economy show that climate protection and successful business can go hand in hand.
