The Betting and Gaming Council (BGC), the standards body for the UK’s regulated betting and gaming industry, is searching for a new chief executive.

As the organisation enters its fifth year, it emphasised the need to find someone who can “lead and inspire the industry”, as well as “further build trust and confidence in the UK gambling sector” – both within the industry itself and with external stakeholders.

In further detail, the BGC is looking for a Chief Executive who can quickly grasp the commercial and regulatory challenges facing the gambling industry.

“We require an individual who can act as an effective advocate for the industry at the most senior levels, build and maintain strong trusted relationships, influence the political and media debate, and work with a wide range of stakeholders,” the BGC stated.

Established in 2019, the BGC represents betting shops, casinos, online betting, bingo and gaming – working with its members, large and small, to drive high ethical standards, create a culture of safer betting and gaming, and build public and institutional trust.

BGC members support 110,000 jobs, generate £4.2bn in taxes, and contribute £7.1 billion to the economy in GVA (Gross Value Added).

“Working with and reporting to the Executive Chairman, the Chief Executive is the key role in shaping the future of the organisation and will be responsible for building and developing the team in their vision,” the BGC concluded.
