The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario has been awarded the North American Gaming Regulators Association (NAGRA) Excellence in Gaming Regulation Award for its work developing and implementing the regulatory framework for Ontario’s new open and competitive internet gaming (iGaming) market that launched in April 2022.

Pixbet, powered by WeAreGame’s iGaming platform solution, has received approval from Loterj in the first stage of the Accreditation for Sports Betting. It is the first stage of official Accreditation for Sports Betting, and the Loterj Accreditation Notice is the first to authorise a Brazilian sports betting service.

The Ministry of Finance in Chile has published a new guidance document outlining proposed technical measures for the regulation of online gambling in the country. Chile is expected to liberalise online gambling by the end of this year. The guidance covers proposed measures to on tax generation, market integrity and commercial standards.

In order to protect the public interest and ensure Ontario’s internet gaming market operates responsibly and with integrity, the Registrar of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) has served BV Gaming Limited and Fitzdares Canada Limited with Notices of Monetary Penalty totalling $30,000 for alleged infractions of the Registrar’s Standards for Internet Gaming.

Galaxy Gaming Inc. announced that they have reached an agreement with the Talisman Group, creators of the EZ Baccarat table game, for the exclusive distribution rights for EZ Baccarat, in the US, Canada and the UK beginning on September 9, 2023.

International Game Technology PLC announced the expansion of its high-performing omnichannel Powerbucks games and popular MegaJackpots games in Canada via a deployment on the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) online gaming site PlayAlberta.ca. This launch marks the first time that IGT’s Powerbucks and MegaJackpots games are deployed coast-to-coast across Canada.

International Game Technology PLC announced that its subsidiary IGT Global Services Limited (IGT), in consortium with BOLDT Gaming S.A., Consorcio GTECH Boldt Gaming, will continue operating and providing lottery technology to La Junta de Protección Social (JPS) in Costa Rica, via a new contract extension through August 2024.

Gaming lifestyle organisation XSET has announced its collaboration with Red Sox, a storied franchise with a rich history and an unparalleled legacy, to introduce the first of its kind activation, “XSET Day at Fenway Park”.

Venuetize, Everi Holdings Inc.’s leading mobile technology and advanced e-commerce platform for the sports, hospitality and entertainment industries, announced it has been selected by Inter Miami CF as the foundation for their fan engagement mobile strategy. Everi’s Venuetize platform enhances the Inter Miami CF mobile strategy, giving all Inter Miami supporters a refreshed user experience.

Table Trac Inc., the developer and provider of CasinoTrac, a casino management system with more than 280 casino customers in 13 countries, announced a new partnership with gaming fintech disruptors, Koin Payments and Marker Trax, to introduce its KTMobile app with an integrated cashless solution, for its customers.

Dick Clark Productions and POWERBALL announced that they are teaming up for a fifth consecutive year to present the “Powerball First Millionaire of the Year” promotion.

IGT announced that its Wheel of Fortune Slots, Powerbucks, and MegaJackpots games awarded four momentous jackpots in January.

Lucky slots players won the following million-dollar-plus jackpots last month:

• On January 5, a Wheel of Fortune Slots player won $1,132,199 playing Wheel of Fortune Super Cash Link at Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi, Miss.

• On January 8, a Powerbucks slots player won CA$1,657,823 playing Whitney Houston Powerbucks slots at Lake City Casino Vernon in British Columbia, Canada.

• On January 15, a Powerbucks slots player won CA$1,056,637 playing Gong Xi Fa Cai Grand at ACE Casino Red Deer in Alberta, Canada.

• On January 18, an online slots player won $1,247,834 playing MegaJackpots Cash Eruption on Caesars Palace Online Casino in New Jersey.

Wheel of Fortune slots have minted over 1200 millionaires and awarded over $3.6 billion in jackpots since their launch in 1996. IGT Powerbucks slots have paid 74 jackpots of CA$1 million or more since their Canadian debut in 2016.

Scientific Games has named Rich Wasserman as Senior Vice President of Product Engineering. Wasserman brings more than 20 years of experience leading global engineering, data science and product organizations across complex, high-performance technology platforms.

As the industry’s fastest-growing lottery systems technology provider, Scientific Games continues to invest in technology and talent to deliver seamless consumer experiences across lottery retail and digital channels.

Wasserman previously held senior leadership roles at Amazon and Facebook, where he led large-scale systems powered by advanced analytics and machine learning. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Engineering and Data Science at Stitch Fix, leading integrated teams focused on automation and platform optimization. Wasserman holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and a degree in Computer Science from the University at Buffalo.
