DraftKings Names Stephanie Sherman as New CMO
DraftKings has named Stephanie Sherman as its new Chief Marketing Officer, a move that the operator says will consolidate all marketing functions under her leadership.
Sherman joined DraftKings in 2013 as one of the first 15 employees. Described as “an instrumental team member”, she will continue to drive and scale future marketing, monitor brand and agency campaigns, media buying and influencer strategy, among other features.
Commenting on her new role, Sherman said: “When I started at DraftKings nine years ago, there was a genuine and collective sense that we were building something special, and zooming out to today, that has been validated more than I could have ever imagined.
“For all the accomplishments we’ve celebrated and adversity we’ve overcome, I take on this new position knowing there is still so much opportunity ahead along with brilliant people ready to deliver.”
Previously, Sherman was DraftKings’ Senior Vice President of Marketing, where she focused on customer acquisition and direct response marketing. She has helped guide the operator’s ongoing business expansion as it included daily fantasy, sports betting, online casino and digital collectibles in the offering, and has also “necessitated increasingly knowledgeable and data-driven services”.
Sherman’s growth and contribution have been recognized by Adweek, which has named her one of the “most powerful women in sports” for the past two years in a row.
“Since our early days as a rebellious daily fantasy company, Stephanie has been a driving force for our growth and contributed immensely to DraftKings becoming a household name and a global multi-product digital entertainment company enjoyed by millions of consumers,” Matt Kalish, co-founder and president of DraftKings North America, said.
“Stephanie’s consistently strong performance has earned the respect of the entire DraftKings team, and she is recognized as one of the industry’s most dynamic marketing men. I’m delighted to elevate Stephanie as our Chief Marketing Officer and gain her integrated perspective in our senior management team,” Matt Kalish added.
