GambleAware, the leading charity in the UK, has published a new set of interactive maps providing information about the locations in Great Britain that require various levels of gambling-related treatment and support.

The organisation had conducted a national-level survey on the differences in gambling participation across locations and demand for treatment and support on different geographical areas. The new sets of interactive maps were created based on the data obtained in the survey. The maps are intended to help local authorities to prepare to providing care for problem gamblers in their area and to create general understanding about the geographical differences in the prevalence of problem gambling.

GambleAware has urged the local authorities to utilise the maps in conjunction with locally available data and information about gambling harms.

Alison Clare, Research, Information and Knowledge Director at GambleAware, said: “We want to assist local authorities and services in delivering the best possible treatment and support for gambling harms in their area. These new interactive maps can be used to identify shortfalls between treatment and support services and prevalence of gambling participation and harms, which can be used to inform local responses. The existing support available through the National Gambling Treatment Service can be used to help address these shortfalls.”
