Gauselmann CEO Criticises UK Reopening Roadmap

Paul Gauselmann, owner and CEO of Gauselmann Group, has written a personal letter to the UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, communicating his disappointment over the government’s decision not to include adult gaming centres in the non-essential business list allowed to reopen starting April 12.

The letter, which was also sent to Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak, and Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Kwasi Kwarteng, marks the first time Gauselmann has written to a head of government on a political issue in over 60 years of corporate leadership.

Gauselmann Group currently runs the Casino franchise of adult gaming centres via its Merkur division, with 174 locations throughout the UK. Paul Gauselmann demanded Johnson review the decision. The operator’s facilities have “attract comparably small numbers of customers who do not stay for long”, referring to the non-essential retail properties set to open next month.

“For this reason, we cannot understand the decision which permits betting shops to open even though they operate the same gaming machines,” he declared.

According to the businessman, this decision puts the company at a major market disadvantage and he anticipates a long-term erosion of Gauselmann’s customer base as a result. Any further delay in reopening, according to him, could jeopardize any of the company’s future investments.

Two nosebleed events will take place each day of the High Five Tournament Series with buy-ins from $5,200 to $25,500, marking the biggest stakes ever seen on ACR.

The High Five Tournament Series Main Event will take place on Monday, April 20th, featuring a $420 buy-in and a $200,000 GTD prize pool. The schedule also includes a special rebuy and add-on day on Monday, April 20th and a PLO day on Wednesday, April 22nd.

And the action doesn’t stop there. Players can blaze up the standings in the High Five Leaderboard Competition, where more than $25,000 in prizes are up for grabs, including $2,650 Venom seats, tourney tickets and The Golden Bong trophies. Simply by playing in High Five events, players will earn points towards either the High Leaderboard (buy-ins of $44 and over) or the Low Leaderboard (buy-ins of $33 or under).

The stakes are high and so are the names stepping in. Creedroomz has launched Road to El Dorado, a new live casino game show it calls its largest production to date. The title is built around a wheel-of-fortune mechanic and four bonus rounds, with a studio set designed around an Aztec theme.

The main wheel has 54 segments, with base numbers 1, 2, 5 and 10, plus four bonus spots. Creedroomz said each segment has its own payout multiplier, and that after bets close a random number or bonus segment may receive an added multiplier of up to x50.
