Bwin Ends its Operations in Russia
Bookmaker Bwin has decided to end its operations in Russia amid the changing legislation, according to a letter sent out to its local clients.
Bwin noted that it has entered into an agreement with another bookmaker Parimatch to “make leaving the Russian market as comfortable as possible for all customers.” Bwin customers will be able to switch to the Parimatch platform and keep their funds.
Changes made to the law on the regulation of bookmakers came into force in September 2020. Prior to the amendments to the legislation, bookmakers transferred 5% of their income to sports federations each quarter as targeted payments for the development of professional and youth sports. In accordance with the law, this amount could not exceed 15 million rubles (205,000 dollars at the current exchange rate).
After the amendments were made, bookmakers were obliged to make targeted deductions not only for bets on Russian events, but also on international ones. In addition, after the amendments were made, Russian President Vladimir Putin approved the proposal of Finance Minister Anton Siluanov to at least double the targeted allocations from bookmakers.

Ernie Stevens Jr
IGA and NCAIED Honor Chairman Ernie Stevens, Jr. at RES 2026 in Las Vegas
The Indian Gaming Association (IGA) joined tribal leaders, entrepreneurs, and partners from across Indian Country at the National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development’s (NCAIED) RES 2026 Conference in Las Vegas to honor the life and legacy of Chairman Ernie Stevens, Jr., a longtime NCAIED Board Member and unwavering advocate for tribal economic development.
Chairman Stevens’s presence was deeply felt throughout the conference, where his decades of leadership helped shape the foundation for Native enterprise development and strengthened the connection between tribal government gaming and economic opportunity across Indian Country.
“Chairman Stevens believed that when tribal economies grow, our people thrive. He carried a vision that connected business development, sovereignty, and community. That vision is alive today at RES, where leaders and entrepreneurs are building stronger futures for our nation,” said IGA Chairman David Z. Bean.
Stevens served more than 25 years on the NCAIED Board, continuing a legacy rooted in family and service to Indian Country. His leadership reflected a deep commitment to doing what is right, uplifting communities, and ensuring that tribal economies remain strong for future generations.
During RES 2026, NCAIED Board Member Margo Gray offered a heartfelt tribute, reflecting on both the personal and professional impact Chairman Stevens had on those around him.
“As I looked around the room, I could still see Ernie. He would be moving the placards around, making sure everyone was where they needed to be. That was who he was. We were not just colleagues; we were like brother and sister,” said Gray.
Gray spoke to the sense of loss felt across the community, while also emphasizing the responsibility to carry forward his work.
“There was a shift. It felt different, it felt like something was missing. But in that moment, we knew we had to carry on. That is what he would expect of us,” Gray shared.
She also reflected on Stevens’ deep pride in his family and his roots in Indian Country, which shaped his leadership and lifelong commitment to service.
“He was proud of his family, proud of where he came from, and proud to serve our people. He believed in doing what is right and what is just, and he carried that with him every day,” Gray said.
Gray closed by reinforcing the importance of continuing Stevens’ legacy through action and unity.
“As we move forward, we do this work grounded in community, supporting our lands and our people. That is how we honor him,” she said.
Throughout RES 2026, participants are continuing Chairman Stevens’ vision by advancing Native-owned businesses, strengthening partnerships, and ensuring that tribal economic development remains a cornerstone of sovereignty and self-determination.
“Ernie’s legacy is not behind us; it is in front of us. We will continue to protect tribal sovereignty and strengthen tribal government gaming as a driver of opportunity, just as he dedicated his life to doing,” Chairman Bean added.
The Indian Gaming Association stands alongside NCAIED and tribal leaders nationwide in honoring Chairman Stevens’ life, leadership, and lasting contributions to Indian Country.

Abelson Sports
Abelson Sports Expands Football Offering with Exclusive Liga MX Femenil Coverage
Abelson Sports, a leading sports betting data provider, has expanded its women’s football portfolio with the addition of Liga MX Femenil coverage, becoming the only supplier to offer dedicated goalscorer markets for the competition.
Under the rollout, Abelson Sports will introduce pre-match goalscorer pricing for the closing stages of the 2025/26 Clausura season, before delivering full coverage throughout the playoffs.
The supplier will then provide comprehensive, game-by-game coverage from the start of the 2026/27 Apertura campaign, scheduled to begin in July.
The move comes as Liga MX Femenil continues to experience rapid growth, not only within Mexico but across the wider Americas. With favourable kick-off times and wide availability of broadcast content, the competition is becoming an increasingly attractive proposition for operators targeting audiences in the region and beyond.
Established in 2017, the league has benefitted from a unique structure that has accelerated its development. Following an agreement in 2016, the majority of clubs competing in Liga MX were required to field women’s teams, enabling Liga MX Femenil sides to build on existing fanbases and strengthen engagement from the outset.
Abelson Sports is currently the only supplier offering dedicated goalscorer markets for the competition, further enhancing its position as a market leader in women’s football betting data.
The addition of Liga MX Femenil builds on an already extensive portfolio that includes the National Women’s Soccer League, Women’s Super League, UEFA Women’s Champions League, as well as major international tournaments such as the FIFA Women’s World Cup and the UEFA Women’s Euro.
Jeevan Jeyaratnam, Chief Betting Officer at Abelson Sports, said: “It is a great achievement to add Liga MX Femenil to our growing women’s football offering. The league has seen impressive growth in recent years, supported by strong domestic foundations and increasing international visibility.
“By introducing goalscorer pricing for this competition, we are continuing to lead the way in providing our partners with the tools they need to engage audiences and capitalise on the growing demand for women’s football betting markets.”
